Chapter 6 - Classes

As they sat at the table the next morning for breakfast, it all seemed perfectly normal except for the part where there was another woman with black hair putting ketchup on her eggs and also the fact that there was a miniature monster in the middle of the table. It kept trying to grab the jar of marmalade. Amy sighed and put her fork down. She couldn't decide which was worse, Seraphina's eggs or the fact that Alex had separation anxiety when it came to that cage. He even brought it down to breakfast with him, the weirdo.

Her Gramma had prepared an actual feast. Boiled eggs, fried eggs, omelets, Scrambled eggs. What was it with these two and eggs! There were things besides eggs too. Toast with the choice of either marmalade or strawberry jam (both homemade), She went with the strawberry jam. Pancakes, Hash browns, and waffles. Smoothies for Gramma and Alex and coffee for me and Seraphina.

We ate while chatting lively. Alex had a full blow-by-blow description of what had happened which was interesting considering he was out for almost half of it. Sera understanding the situation patiently asked questions about what happened yesterday. Sera's spell had helped a lot and there wasn't much tension about the event now.

Sera wanted to know about the transformation but it was all hazy and I ended up asking questions instead. She told me that it was a protective measure taken by the soul when your brain couldn't handle it anymore. She was a really good talker. Then finally the conversation turned back to Tosai, The school. Gramma explained that it was a school to hunt monsters and keep the world safe. Sera sighed and explained as follows:

When this world began, Humans and Magical creatures lived together in harmony. They shared their talents and skills and lived happily, but certain vile creatures thought themselves above all and decided to make their beliefs clear to all. They wreaked havoc upon the lands destroying all they saw. Certain humans and creatures decided to fight back. The magical creatures saw potential in certain humans and decided to train them and thus the seers were born.

Alex looked at Amy and then back at Sera.

A fierce war raged upon the lands and finally, the Humans and good creatures were victorious. The Seers further trained humans who each adapted to their teachings in their own way and thus the other classes were born. They are:

Seers: The ones with incredible senses and intelligence and have the ability to transform into a certain animal.

Sorcerers:

The ones who control and contort the shadows to their will and can summon beasts to their aid.

 Priests:

The ones who use light and heal those who have been injured.

 Witches:

Those who control the elements and emotions.

Amy knew that was what Sera's class was.

 Warriors:

Those who excel at weaponry and martial arts.

 Alchemist:

Alex straightened up and gave her his fullest attention. How could he not pay attention at a time like this?

Those who excel at the creation of both concoctions and weapons and can transform freely into any animal. Sera continued taking no notice of Alex.

As the number of hunters increased six esteemed hunters of each class created Tosai to teach the young hunters and continue the hunter lineage.

Alex sat with his mouth open looking completely awed. Amy on the other hand saw a hole in the story. "If the Seers taught the others everything then how come their powers are the most watered down?" Amy asked. Her Gramma groaned. Sera looked triumphant and said to Gramma "You owe me twenty" Then she turned to Amy and said, "True seers can master all magic arts and we haven't seen true seers for centuries until…." "Until what?" Amy asked. "Until you. You accomplished feats no normal seer could. We have five other seers who will enroll at the school with you and they're also very promising, but you... You most definitely are a true seer Amy." Alex's mouth practically dropped to his knees.

"So what now?" Amy asked, "Does Mom know about this?" "She's a retired sorceress." Gramma replied. "But she didn't know about the test!" Sera added calmly answering the question she had actually asked. "How are we going to manage two schools?" Alex said aghast. "Luckily you'll be managing just one. We are recognized by the state so no worrying about paperwork." Sera said. "Or CPS" Gramma joked. Sera glared at her. "Right… Forgot about you." She said.

"You'll move into the respective dorms this afternoon and your classes will start tomorrow," Gramma said. "Gee told us too soon don't you think?" Amy said sarcastically. "Amy... Don't sass your grandmother." Sera scolded. "What!" Gramma said aghast, "I love a bit of sass, you're not that mad at me, are you?" "No, Gramma, I'm not. We're cool" She and Sera sighed in unison as Gramma smiled.

"Soooo! Let's get you all ready!" Gramma said, "Shopping time!" Even Amy managed to smile at this. "Shopping. Finally something up my alley!"

It wasn't.
