Aiden, Daniel, and Ryan stood outside Tristan's apartment. The grey handle, lock, and many scars made it look like it had seen better days.
"Sir," Daniel started to speak, "are you sure this is his apartment?" He asked, his voice filled with confusion. "It doesn't look like a lawyer's residence, especially one belonging to one of the top lawyers."
Upon hearing the statement, Ryan showed his agreement by nodding twice. "Never question me," Aiden responded, showing off his authority. He took out a black key with golden lines on it, making it look majestic in front of the door. "Where did you get that from?" Ryan asked, letting his curiosity get the best of him and again questioning Aiden. "From 7/11," Aiden replied sarcastically.
He opened the door, and the door handle felt like ice on his skin. They entered the apartment, and the look of the apartment caught them by surprise. It was nothing like it looked from outside. The living room was decently furnished, with a grey couch and a TV. The wooden tiles and transparent glass doors leading to the balcony added a touch of elegance.
Ryan opened the transparent glass door to the balcony, and cold winds entered the apartment. The room was high enough to offer a panoramic view of the city. The black and grey clouds covering the setting sun, the orange color spread vast in the sky, and the tall buildings showed human communities. Black and white vehicles followed the bridge over crystal-clear water.
Truly ethereal.
On the left side of the living room, there was a kitchen, white and grey themed. On the right side was his room. They first checked the living room's drawer and kitchen but found nothing useful. Aiden went inside Tristan's room. The room smelled like fresh berries and was clean and well-organized. There was a queen-sized bed, two side tables on each side, a large comfy bean bag, and upon which sat two diaries, both covered with leather.
Aiden opened one of them. The first page read: Case 1: And the whole case, important details were mentioned in it.
He took hold of the second book. The first page read:
"It can be a polluted, horrible place
or a beautiful kingdom, a dream you wanna chase.
It can be messed up or organized. Welcome to... My mind"
- Tristan.
Aiden closed the book. Ryan and Daniel entered the room. "I will read this book, Daniel read the second one," ordered Officer Aiden, giving the second book (related to personal life) to Daniel and taking the first one with him.
Daniel carelessly looked at Ryan and said, "Take that book with you and read it." Ryan agreed.
At night, back in the police station, Ryan sat alone. He opened the book and started reading it.
Page 1 read:
"It can be a polluted, horrible place
or a beautiful kingdom, a dream you wanna chase.
It can be messed up or organized. Welcome to... My mind"
- Tristan.
The second page held a bitter truth:
"My childhood ended the day I was born."
