Several files were scattered out on the desk infront of them.
Daniel was reading about Tristan's last case, which concerned Tristan's friend "Edgar" . He was occupied, completing the work assigned to him.
The room was so silent, that the loudest sound in the room was that of the clock. The time seemed to be slowed down like the pace of a turtle.
The silence resembled the calmness of the ocean before a storm.
Aiden was sitting on the chair opposite to Ava at a respectful distance. They both were avoiding eye contact with sheer force of will.
Ryan knocked on the door, and came in.
"What did you find out?" Asked Ava almost immediately, her Australian accent, breaking the silence that occupied the whole room.
"Nothing worthy of note, excep-" before Ryan could finish his sentence, he was cut off by Ava
"Expected"
"Can you ever be kind?" Aiden bit out, muscles near his jaw tightened.
Ava just rolled her eyes, and acted as if he never spoke.
Ava looked at Daniel, raising both of her eyebrows, she spoke
"Did you find out anything?"
"Yes" said Daniel, " We might have to go to this Edgar's house" he continued, looking up from his file meeting Ava's eyes. For the first time, he saw her properly. He Studied her face, the smooth curve of her ear, and her brown dove eyes. Her blonde wavy hairs resting on her shoulder.
"Have we met before?" the words escaped his mouth.
Ava looked at him with utter confusion, "I guess not."
Daniel nodded once.
"Come on, I want to talk" Daniel said to Ryan while getting up from his chair.
He pushed the door, it opened easily.
Standing outside the station,he waited for Ryan to come, the wind felt cold on his skin. The trees were swaying, and the sun was playing hide-n-seek with the clouds. Cold gale blew.
"What did you want to say?" Asked Ryan,standing beside him.
"Where were you today?" He asked the question like he knew the answer.
" Me? I was where I was sent" He replied, technically avoiding directly answering the question.
"What did you find out?" He tried again.
Ryan hesitated for a second and then spoke,
"That Tristan guy" after a second he continued "his body is missing"
"What?!" Said Aiden in a stern voice from behind.
The voice startled both of them.
And then there was silence for a minute.
"Were you, by any chance, eavesdropping?" Asked Ryan, in a slow voice, forgetting that he is working under him.
"Boy, never question me" replied Aiden.
"We know, and thats why we are here discussing this topic" Replied Daniel.
"What do you mean?" Asked Aiden.
"His. Body. Is. Missing" Said Ryan with an emphasis, bringing both of them on the topic.
" Lets go" Said Aiden, in a serious tone.
"Where?" asked Ryan.
Without answering his question, he started walking, 40 minutes later all 4 of them were outside someone's "home".
