Chapter 45 - The Ark Of Dragon Defeated

"Don't think for a Tock that I can't defeat you without my powers! I'll show you what I can do!" roared Wald as he propelled himself from the ceiling to kick the Dragon's head, forcing the beast to lay flat.

Wald then landed on the ground, and, not caring for the consequences, he clasped his hands and brought them down onto the Dragon's snout, causing immense pain for the beast. The Dragon seemed still as Wald backed up to catch his breath.

However, the Dragon merely shook his head and slowly lifted its head to smile as if to mock Wald. The purple flame head didn't take that smile lightly as he gripped his axe and sprinted towards the Dragon again, which resulted in the beast opening its mouth again.

"I'm not that dumb to be deceived by you," said Wald as he crouched and slid underneath the beast's head to get past the spell.

Upon doing so, Wald made sure to have his axe up, with the blade pointing upwards. Thus, as he slid under the Dragon, Wald's axe slashed the belly of the beast, creating a gruesome sight of its abdomen being cut open.

As the purple flame head recovered on the tail side, the Dragon started to lose control. But Wald wasn't too worried as the gash he made had significantly weakened the rampaging Dragon. The more it moved, the more its organs came out.

"I don't know if you can still understand me, but I'm just going to say it... You'd better stop moving about, or else you'd paint the cave floor with your entrails," instructed Wald as he slowly walked into the Dragon's vision.

It finally seemed to agree with Wald and halted its chaos while laying flat on its belly. Wald sighed in relief... He wasn't sure if he could keep up the fight's momentum after using so much of his raw strength.

"You can slay me..." mumbled the Dragon as it lowered its eyelids.

"You're Fafnir, correct? What happened to you? Earlier, you were this noble and legendary creature that helped me... But now, you're just a beast with a gold fetish? What happened to your sanity or our chat?" questioned Wald, resting his axe on his shoulder.

"I am... And I thank you for fighting me out of my madness just now. However, I had not anticipated that you and I would share the same mind when I was merely borrowing your vessel as a house," replied the Dragon, obviously tired.

"Huh?"

"It's like sharing a house with a roommate. When I was merely using your body as a house, we didn't share a room. But now, your room and mine have merged, resulting in this misunderstanding. You know of my legend, correct?"

"The infamous legend of not gaining riches when you were a dwarf, and that avarice had turned you into a Dragon that started losing its sanity across the years... Yeah, I'm well aware of it."

"It's not something that I'm proud of... But it's forever embedded into my legend and mind. Thus, I could not control myself when you came to exit the room."

"I get the situation now... It was as if I had been intruding on your space. If I were you, I'd get pissed as well, so you're not entirely to blame."

"I'm glad that we are on the same page. Now, I owe you another apology for the earlier offer. I hadn't expected you to lose control of your physical body," replied Fafnir as he slowly recovered his wounds.

"What?! So you're telling me my body is out there, fighting everything it sees?!" shouted Wald, surprised.

"That's why I'm apologizing..."

"Don't get smart with me, you damned gold-loving beast! How do I stop it?!" screeched Wald as he contemplated decapitating Fafnir right there and then.

"You must accept that you would be part Dragon from now on. You're no longer a Pyromancer and have already lost both of your Elements. I'd give you the power of my Dragon Element normally, but I can't give it fully as your physical body can't handle it."

"Thus, the Corruption Element has overtaken part of your Elemental Core, so your body is going nuts. So, you've got no choice but to have that Element. The Dragon Element can mitigate the Corruption Element for good, but your lifespan has been severely shortened."

"Are you alright with the terms?"

"What are the other choices I have?"

"You can either let your body kill those who were around it earlier, or you can choose to self-destruct now. I'd suggest the latter if you want these two options."

"Hmph, very funny. Very well then, I'd take the first choice and become part Dragon and wield the Corruption Element," replied Wald, looking at the Dragon confidently.

"Don't say I didn't warn you..."
