Chapter 48 - The Ark Of Wald Awoken

"The Last Dragon has awoken?!" shouted Raiyen in disbelief.

Now everything was going haywire; they would have to deal with the Last Dragon, Husks, and the transformed Wald, which had power equivalent to Baldwin's level. Raiyen looked around and back at Phanm's state. Time was not on his side tonight.

To hell with it, thought the Time Mage as he pulled out Time Ripper again.

"Devour the hatred, expel the aura. Link them together, unite them. Archery of the Frosted Heavens!" yelled Raiyen as he slashed the air before him, causing the Void to open and allow a torrent of icy arrows to come through and attack Wald.

The transformed Pyromancer stood still as he allowed the arrows to get close before raising his axe towards the arrows and calling out another Sin.

"Third Sin; Delirium Of Avarice, Beelzebub!" called out Wald as he made a swift circular slash, emitting a crescent moon of purple and black Elemental Energy that devoured the incoming arrows.

Raiyen widened his eyes as he slumped his shoulders down in near defeat. The Time Mage was like a deer in headlights as Wald slowly approached him with a menacing Aura.

"Those arrows were direct from Ysabeau's Aetherial Bow, a weapon that only a mighty Bahamut from the Upper Skies... How can he absorb that without any consequence?!" shouted Raiyen as he placed a foot backward.

The Corrupted flame head raised his axe again and called out the same Sin from earlier. This time, Raiyen was barely a swing away from the attack.

"Out of all the better judgment and instincts of the first-rate Mages down there, it has to be the thin, human kid with one gun to save a Time Mage. A Time Mage... And to top it off, this 'Time Mage' has the power to teleport to safety!" complained Baldwin.

"Yes, but it's not every day you see someone using my spells against a Corrupted being and having it absorbed liked it was another dinner..." noted Ysabeau, miffed that her spell was useless against Wald.

"The Corruption Element is a forbidden Element for a reason, and because of it, we can't truly discern the heights and limits of what it can do," explained the Headmaster.

"Are you sure that we shouldn't step into the fight? I don't think Raiyen sent out that help for nothing, you know," asked the Angry Man, worried that the Last Dragon and the Husks might cause doomsday.

"Yes, because we've got the Valkyrie right in the mess, and it would also seem that the Husks isn't too much of a threat now. Besides, since when are you so concerned about the kids?"

"Years ago, you were hounding at me for babying them so much, and now you are giving me an earful for not being there with them?" retorted the Headmaster.

"You know this situation is different, right?"

"Yes, but I know that something is off with Wald's transformation... It looks like he hasn't truly become the Corrupted One, nor do I see him as a Husk," said Gillian, pointing towards the arena.

"Get down!" yelled the Campanian King as he plunged the Time Mage's head into the ground while following suit.

Before anyone realized it, Wald had shifted the position of his axe to face the Husks, absorbing all of the corrupted creatures into his axe. Phanm was shocked but quickly knew what had happened, while Raiyen was still cautious of the purple flame head.

"Oi, hold it!" yelled Phanm, trying to stop Raiyen's pursuit.

The Time Mage glitched through the arena with lightning speed and slashed at Wald, who swiftly blocked the attack with an axe.

"Yo, who said that you can decapitate me without my permission?" asked Wald as he smiled.

"Huh?! Transformed Mages aren't supposed to..."

Raiyen backed off and landed on the ground.

"You might want to duck," warned Wald as he pulled off another attack.

Raiyen was shocked as he witnessed Wald skillfully aim his attacks at the Husks, causing his Elemental Energy levels to skyrocket with more Corruption Elements.

"But how did you regain your sanity?" questioned the Time Mage, still trying to wrap his head around things.

"With the help of a Dragon named Fafnir. I'll explain in full detail what happened later. Right now, we've got Husks and a confused Dragon to deal with," explained the newly Corrupted Mage as he got ready with his axe.

The Last Dragon aimed its mouth at the trio as if on cue. The three males sprinted in opposite directions, hoping to escape the attack as far as possible.

"Since you've boasted so much about having such a high defense, similar to that of a Dragon, then you should be enough to mitigate a Dragon's roar," said a familiar female voice, followed by a body dropping from the sky.
