Meanwhile, as everyone went to their respective places, Mavislin had yet to drag the kid out.
"Don't you think bringing a child such as Circe might be a hindrance or even a danger for you?" questioned Ysabeau as Mavislin flew into the Old Chapel.
The Valkyrie halted as she looked at the girl hiding behind Ysabeau.
"I'm serious, Mav... These kids would be the future of the Barren Pillars, so we can't afford to lose them... And I've just caught wind of the Husks being on the battlefield. Specifically around here in the Campania. Thus, I don't think Circe is safe," explained the High Queen.
Mavislin kept her wings and glanced at Circe before sighing. She then got close and kneeled to be shorter than the fire kid.
"The High Queen is right... The situation is getting out of hand, and I can't afford to lose you on the battlefield. I promise we'll find something else to enhance your powers, alright? I'll make sure to get every vacant mission on the board for you to pick..." suggested Mavislin.
Circe pouted as tears threatened to fall out of her eyes. The little girl wanted to throw her temper and cry, screaming that it wasn't fair that her first mission with Mama would be canceled. But the little girl did no such act as she looked down to her toes and nodded.
The Valkyrie smiled as she ruffled the young girl's hair and picked her up, bouncing the child around in her adult form before giving the squealing kid to Ysabeau.
"Keep her safe, will you? The Orphanage should be affected since Raiyen, and I kept it well hidden, and none of the Familiars have sounded out yet, so they are still fine."
"But taking Circe over now might risk something, so I'd be safer if she were here. Is that fine?" asked Mavislin.
"She is under the care of the High Queen... I swear on my brethren that she'll be safe. Go now; you've got a horde and camp to handle," assured Ysabeau as she shooed the Valkyrie away.
"I do, but I've got something to find out from Gillian first... Because I must create the first sane being of Corruption other than my twin."
Without giving Ysabeau a chance to ask, Mavislin bolted towards the Headmaster's study, where she swung open the door to reveal that Baldwin had beaten her to the Aki.
Baldwin had used his Dark form to sneak into Gillian's study. The Headmaster nearly summoned his Ancient Relic when Baldwin appeared out of nowhere from behind the bookcase.
"What is your issue with coming into a room without knocking?!" shouted Gillian as he caught his breath.
"I need your help. I want to know if there's a way we can save a Mage affected by the Corruption Element," demanded the Angry Man.
"What for?! And don't you think that I'm some walking encyclopedia because I am through-"
"Please, Father! It's for Wald!" yelled Mavislin as she busted in.
"Not you, too! Wait, what?"
"When I was busy tending to the kid's wounds, I found that Wald's leg had been affected by the Husks and was Corrupted. It won't be long until the Corruption reaches his heart and brain. So, please... Do we have something that can mitigate that?" pleaded Mavislin.
The Headmaster let out an exasperated sigh and slumped onto his chair before turning his back against the Mages and staring at his bookshelf. Gillian then closed his eyes and extended a palm upwards.
A book flew out from the shelves and into that opened hand. The Aki turned and placed the book on his desk, opening it to reveal a mirage of a drawn summoning circle, complete with a big star and runes.
"The Corruption Element would create the Husks because it's an overflow of power. Normally, Elemental Energy over in a Mage can be solved by forcing the individual to pour out their powers by either shooting out more spells or transferring it into glass balls."
"Similar to Bryan's case. However, the Corruption Element works differently. If any Mage were to have that horrid Element, they would instantly be affected and be controlled by the Element. It's an 'Invasive Element' and cannot be easily controlled."
"From my clear knowledge and understanding, both the Corruption and Writing Elements are considered Invasive Elements," explained Gillian as he pointed to himself.
"So... what's the difference?" quizzed Baldwin, still unable to understand.
"The Corruption Element is like a virus. Imagine a Mage being a container and water being the Mage's Element. The Corruption Element would then turn each water droplet into something like a rock. And when that happens..."
"The Mage implodes and loses control. Because the Corruption Element originated from a Valkyrie... My twin," replied the Valkyrie with darkened eyes.
