Before the two continued fighting, the front door swung open to reveal an Angry Man and a slender man who was slightly bulkier but smaller than Phanm. But his appearance was more bizarre than the normal Mages who try to hide their form.
His physical appearance was odd, but the fact that a literal flame was just causally floating above his head was a dead giveaway that he was a Fire Mage.
The Mage in question has black shoulder-length hair with purple highlights, and half of his back hair clipped up. Another attractive factor was his fringe, divided into two, with the right fringe long enough to cover his eye.
His eyes were piercing green as if trying to rival Phanm's eyes. The man's sclera was black as well. He was paler than the Campania King, which Mavislin thought was humanely impossible, yet that person stands.
The Valkyrie could not help but think how impossible it was for a Fire Mage to look like that… Even when she enters her Fire Element form, the Valkyrie's hair and eyes change to warm colors. Another example is Circe, who has fiery orange eyes.
These few features raised some suspicion for Mavislin, causing her to have her guard up. Tomoe sensed a new Mage in the area and quickly guarded the sleeping child.
"Great, so now you're best friends with my kidnapper… What's the deal, Wald?" questioned Phanm, placing a hand on his hip.
"Well… I have been friends with him longer than you've been alive, so…" squeaked the new person.
"Who are you? And why do you have a flame dancing on your head?" asked Mavislin, now curious about this new being.
If I could touch it... Maybe it would taste nice, thought the curious Valkyrie. The man with flame looked horrified and stepped back from Mavislin, causing the poor thing to pout.
"I'm Mattias, but I usually go by Wald. And similar to the Tribe, I am a Fire Mage and part Pyromancer," introduced the weird man with the dancing flame.
"So what's the other half?" asked Mavislin, slightly worried about this new Mage who claims to be the same race as their current enemy.
"I'm also a Dark Mage. More specifically, I can create Voids in any given space. I can also combine both Elements for a powerful attack. Anyway, I'm here because the Arks have recruited me. Under Sir Baldwin," explained Wald as he pointed to the Angry Man behind him.
"I hope he didn't wake you up like he did for me…" complained Phanm as he turned his back on his friend.
"Baldwin found me when I was back at the fallen villages at the Northern Tip of the Campania. He told me about the situation and the Arks, so I was curious."
The Valkyrie had never heard of a stray Pyromancer or anyone who could conjure a spell that merges the Void and Fire Elements. And there was a bonus: he works or is friends with a human.
"And what about you, demon fox? What are you doing here, hanging out with the one group that made you so angry all those years before? Have you bit your tail and came to them, begging for help?" asked Wald, with venom lacing his words.
"Why is everyone on my tail today? I haven't done anything wrong… As of late," grumbled Tomoe as he stretched out his legs.
Wald growled as he slammed his foot into the ground, causing a small dent. Tomoe flicked up his ears and clicked his tongue. Circe stirred in her nap, allowing the Kitsune to change into battle mode.
"Now I remember… You were that one Mage that got abandoned a few decades ago… What do you want from me now, besides destroying the ground," quizzed Tomoe as he summoned his katana onto his belt.
"A fair match so that I can tear you into shreds myself!" yelled Wald, crouching and springing up from his spot to punch Tomoe in the face.
The fox was quick enough to throw up his scabbard to block the punch, but the clash was enough to send a rumbling shockwave in the living room, scaring Circe.
Mavislin had enough of this little trifle about to become a destructive bout and physically kicked the two dueling Mages out to the field.
"If you want to fight, it's fine by me. Just don't do it indoors, or else I'll show you the true reason why most Mages fear me," warned Mavislin as her eyes glowed gold with power.
Her Elemental Aura was enough to scare Tomoe into transforming back into a pup, and Wald also felt like running away. But Wald glanced at the enemy before him and was reminded why he'd like to make fox stew for dinner that night.
