Chapter 13 - The Ark Of The Feud's End

The white butterflies flew out from the war fan and surrounded the Citadel, dispersing the large purple flaming beam. As they returned to Tomoe's fan, the butterflies were now purple and black. Wald was now panting and in fear of what was to come next.

Tomoe smirked as he twirled around and positioned the giant fan on his right side. Mavislin shook her head as she got ready to fly to the arena but was stopped by Gillian.

"I thought you don't tend to interfere with these feuds?" asked the Headmaster.

"Do you still want the Old Chapel to be intact, or at least the first floor to be around? If you had no clue, Akuma's Flare has only two stages and one purpose. To devour an attack and spit it back out."

"However, if you don't know, the power within the butterflies enhances the initial spell sucked in tenfold since it doesn't use Tomoe's Elemental Energy. It draws from beyond the realm, where Tomoe originally came from."

"The Akuma is a nickname given to a devil-like creature in Japanese folklore."

"But that shouldn't be the case? How can he use Elemental Energy from another realm, let alone use someone's weapons and power?" questioned Baldwin.

"Tomoe is merely what he calls himself. He is still a Familiar of Raiyen Harmony. Thus, that Kitsune is the embodiment of all Japanese myths and folklore. When he uses power from another myth, he draws it from an entity from another realm."

"Take the Akuma as an example; over here, it might not exist, but somewhere else in the millions of possible realms and realities, there's bound to be at least one real Akuma," explained Mavislin as she climbed onto the windowsill.

"That's the problem; Tomoe should not have the skill to do that! He was only supposed to be a Kitsune, so when could he use other weaponry from other myths?!"

Before anyone realized it, Phanm was missing and was now running into the battle to help his friend by aiming at Tomoe's fan.

"Did you really think a human bullet can stop this? How cute for you to think so…" taunted Tomoe as he grinned.

"Akuma's Flare; Anarchic Inferno," continued Tomoe as he swung his arm that held the fan and released a massive wave of blue fire mixed with Wald's earlier attack right at Phanm and Wald.

"Black Wave Hibiscus!" yelled Mavislin as a giant flower shot out from her palm and bloomed before the Phanm and Wald.

Tomoe looked shocked as he quickly canceled his spell and withdrew his weapons. The Valkyrie gave a piece of her mind to the pouting Kitsune while Phanm tried to wrap his head around the fact a Valkyrie saved him.

At this time, Wald finally felt the overwhelming feeling of exhaustion and fell onto his knees in fatigue.

"Wald!" called out Phanm as he caught Wald's head before it could be one with the grassy floor.

"A small fight against Tomoe was enough to put the kid out of commission... I worry for the upcoming battle," said Mavislin, picking Wald up and tossing him over her shoulder.

"So... You're saying Wald isn't powerful enough to attend this upcoming mission with us?" questioned Phanm, with a blaze in his eyes.

"I did not say that... I'm only worried that Wald might collapse after an important or don't have enough power for a long drawn-out battle. Don't get me wrong; Void Mages are a rarity with the bonus of him being a Pyromancer."

"However, I will not send a Mage into battle where he could faint after too much power exertion. He can come along, but I would have to allocate something less demanding for him..." explained Mavislin as she began to walk to the Old Chapel.

Phanm was still ticked off but kept his tongue tied as all three settled in the living room. Ysabeau came to give the males some cookies and tea to consume while a few letters from Raiyen, which Phanm wanted to know about.

"I heard that Raiyen is part of the intelligence task force of the Arks and has the same fighting style as me. I wonder if I could train under him," mentioned Phanm as he munched on the cookies.

"You've just attained the title of the King of the Campanian Underworld, and you want to switch jobs? Are you okay, kid?" asked the Angry Man.

"First, I'm never okay. Second, I thought the man might teach me a few more dagger tricks so I could be good at it. Besides, the entire Five Kings alliance is messy with Gab's death."

"I won't be surprised if Raiyen is helping them out," explained the human, picking another cookie.

"What do you mean? I thought the Slayer and Spearman were helping with the mess?" questioned the Headmaster.
