Chapter 19 - The Ark Of Flame Against Poison

Mavislin said nothing as she raised her arm to protect herself from Old Man Pond's kick. A shockwave reverberated through the area. Instead of throwing him away like usual, Mavislin grabbed the leg and slammed her opponent into the ground, causing a giant crater.

"Do not speak of my twin so familiarly," boomed the Valkyrie as she stomped onto Old Man Pond's leg.

The Poisoned Pond rolled away from the second stomp and jumped back up. The Valkyrie seemed possessed as she summoned her fire wings, where blazing red and orange feathered wings blossomed from her back.

The Angry Man heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that Mavislin was finally settling with using a single Element to defeat Old Man Pond.

But Mavislin seemed to have other plans for her enemy as she plucked a feather and slapped it onto her blade, causing it to morph into the...

"Flaming Empress Blade... Only a daughter of an Empress from Valokia with an affinity for fire can wield that... It looks like you truly live up to your notorious title, Valkyrie," noted Old Man Pond as he readied his spear.

"You don't scare me just because you know my origin. How about you surrender to me already and I can hurry this along?" asked the Valkyrie as she placed the blade in front of her.

"Now, where would be the fun in that?" asked the Old Man Pond as he backflipped away and leaped up.

The Poisoned Pond wasted no time diving down to Mavislin, who was ready to brace for impact. The two Mages clashed, and thanks to the backing of the Fire Element, the Valkyrie twisted her grip, allowing the flame to explode into Old Man Pond's face.

He then backed off into the air and held his weapon above his shoulder as if to throw his spear towards his opponent.

"Achlys' Misery; Hemlock Rain!" yelled the Poisoned Pond as several green water droplets emerged from the spear's tip and rained down on Mavislin.

However, the Valkyre merely stood there, out in the open, and placed her palm out. Baldwin feared she might be out of her mind as she didn't even bother using her blade. The Elemental Energy circulating her outstretched palm was terrifyingly dense with black.

A color that should not be associated with the last of the Valkyries.

"Adhere to my plea. Forge the protection I demand. Howling winds. Corrupt flora. Feel the rage and misery... Let hatred rule my power... Black Lotus Of The Storm!" shouted Mavislin as the orb of pure black bloomed into a giant lotus with black petals with red hues.

The Angry Man and the Poisoned Pond nearly had heart attacks when they saw that spell emerging from a Valkyrie. Unfortunately, the ex-commander didn't have time to process this new information as Mavislin had another trick up her sleeve.

As the droplets rained, Old Man Pond launched towards the shield, trying to break it with his spear. To his utter horror, the Valkyrie had plans of her own as she sliced her shield, producing a massive wave of flames to burn Old Man Pond.

The latter shouted in horror as he leaped away and stabbed his spear into the ground to break his fall. Once the weapon had punctured the earth, Old Man Pond used the spear and swung himself to pounce on Mavislin, pulling the weapon with him.

"I've got you now!" yelled Old Man Pond, only for Mavislin to dodge the spear by a fraction.

The Valkyrie then used both her hands to grip her sword and swung it upwards, breaking the surface dirt and slashing Old Man Pond's left cheek. With another swift move, the Poisoned Pond protected his neck from another slash with his spear, and the two continued to clash.

The Angry Man began to worry that they might be back in time for high tea, and Gillian might fear that something had happened to his precious little Valkyrie. After seeing this battle, it was clear that Mavislin was no longer a kid.

A Mage that can copy the exact spell that an Aki has created should not exist, yet she stands before him... Baldwin had better not tell the Headmaster what he'd witness if he still wanted to keep his head on his neck.

Mavislin sensed that time was running short and needed to wrap things up. After all, she was getting a bit hungry. The Valkyrie released one more powerful shockwave and gently backed away from the Poisoned Pond.

"I think that's enough of playing around. Let's end this before high tea, alright? I seemed to find myself hungry for some cookies again. If my last spells for the day fail to convince you, then I will leave you alone. But if I overpowered you, you have to help," demanded Mavislin.
