"I thought you were going to stick with me, like buddies. I should've known I was only your scapegoat!" yelled Wald in anger as he jumped and swung his axe horizontally to slash Tomoe's abdomen.
"Eighth Sun; Ignite my Inferno!" called Tomoe, slamming his foot forwards and thrusting his sword directly at Wald's head.
Wald would've been a shishlik by that one move if he were a human. The Dark Pyromancer retaliated by rolling away and bouncing up from his position with his axe high above his head.
"I've got you now, fox!" yelled Wald as he attempted to slash down on Tomoe's head.
The white fox smiled as he finished his spell from earlier by pointing his blade upwards, creating a medium sun. Tomoe grinned as the sun exploded, resulting in a considerable shockwave and dustbowl.
"There's surely no way anyone could've survived that at point-blank range…" commented Circe.
"I won't be so sure, kid. From when I've known Wald, his flame doesn't go off that easily. Take a good look at who that demon fox is dealing with," replied Phanm, arching his back.
"There's a reason why he made out of the Tribe alive," added the Campanian King.
Back in the arena, Tomoe strutted out from the dust cloud and was prepared to sheathe his katana when a massive Elemental Aura flare rang throughout the area. The fox quickly spun around with widened eyes, not expecting to see his opponent standing strong.
"Twilight Purgatory. Lands of Null, where life ceases to exist. The space where nothingness resides. No hope, No despair. The Abyss waits for you… The Abyss is one with me… It awaits thy downfall," chanted Wald as he raised his war axe high with a single arm.
The little purple flame that danced on his head had made its way to Wald's axe, engulfing it in purple flames.
"Void Pyre!" shouted Wald as he cleared the dust with a shockwave from the flaming axe.
"Wait, what?! How the hell?!" screamed Tomoe in fear.
Tomoe quickly grabbed his katana and resumed his battle stance, engulfing the blade in flames once more. A moment of calmness blankets the arena before Wald leaps towards Tomoe. The fox blocks it right at the last Tick, breaking the ground underneath him.
Wald gripped his axe tighter and swung it at Tomoe, who swiftly dodged the giant blade by leaping backward.
"Void Pyre: Null the First Flame!" yelled Wald as a tiny purple flame flew out of the flaming axe and exploded at Tomoe's face.
Wald smirked for a mere tick before a swift swing of Tomoe's arm and another spell rang out of the explosion.
"Immune to flames of all Elements… Come on out to play!" yelled Tomoe as Wald backed away.
With a single hand movement, Wald glanced up to see Tomoe holding a large, blue metal fan adorned with white butterflies on his right hand while his katana was on his left. The ex-Pyromancer now had two weapons to battle, making this fight even more impossible.
Tomoe mustered up a proud smirk. He hadn't thought that the fan would actually turn up after what happened during the fight against the Slayer.
"What?! How can he still have those when the Slayer had destroyed them before? I thought it would take a long time to fix them?" asked the Angry Man, who looked baffled.
"Maybe he has super craftsmanship? The fox ain't normal anyways…" reasoned Phanm.
"No… The fans aren't at full strength yet… He has only one, and that one doesn't seem that it can take as much damage as before… One wrong move, and it will break," explained Mavislin, intently watching the battle unfold.
"Since when did you get the Void Element? Did you kill another Mage to gain his powers or awaken something in you?" questioned Tomoe, tilting his head in confusion.
"And since when did you care?! And as I said earlier, I am now both a Dark and Fire Mage; learn to dig your fluffy ears and pay more attention to people!"
Tomoe's ears flicked in annoyance as he pointed the blade at Wald.
"I heard you the first time, loud and clear. But it still doesn't my question... A Mage with the power of Darkness is common after you've walked this realm for several centuries. However, I have never met a Void Mage nor any Dark and Fire Mage."
"I was expecting you to have the Necrosis Element or Chaos... Those are more common but not Void. Plus, I couldn't sense a hint of Darkness when I met you so what gives?"
The two had a Tock of silence before the Kitsune sighed and realized that Wald wasn't the type to converse in a battle. Tomoe thought hard about Wald... There was something off about the kid, but...
