"Well, I do have the Void Element, whether I like it or not. And don't think your pretty fan can blow it away. New toys don't matter too much to me. I am still stronger than you, after what you put me through!" roared Wald as he lunged towards Tomoe.
"And what exactly did I put you through?! Wasn't I the one who showed you how to make an honest living and got you off the streets?" retorted the Kitsune, blocking the axe with his fan.
Wald slammed his foot into the ground, causing a shockwave that blew Tomoe back. The Dark Flame Mage spun his axe around before slashing the air, creating an asterisk of purple flaming slashes.
"Void Pyre: Songs of Oblivion's Blaze!" chanted Wald as he did the last stroke, allowing the slashes to follow Tomoe.
The Kitsune wasted no time running off, trying to lose the slashes instead of blocking it with his weakened fan. But those things were hellbent on chasing him, so Tomoe had no choice.
"I hate doing this…" grumbled Tomoe as he contorted to face those pesky things.
The Kistune gripped his katana differently and took a deep breath.
"Ninth Sun; Dance of the Kitsune's Blaze," called out Tomoe as he skillfully deflected all of Wald's slashes with a series of movements.
The purple flame head barely had enough time to realize that one of his most potent moves had been bested by his opponent before Tomoe struck again.
Wald wanted to aim at Tomoe's feet, but the Kitsune had thrown up himself and his fan. Now, with Wald underneath him, Tomoe grabbed the fan that had been thrown midair and spun himself.
"Second Sun: Halcyon Azure!" yelled Tomoe as his fan was engulfed with blue flames and he proceeded to do a sharp rotation.
That move was supposed to take out Wald's neck but was stopped by his hand. Grabbing the fan, the purple flame pulls Tomoe towards him and delivers a kick to the fox's face.
Being the most agile person on the planet, Tomoe easily dodges the kick by bending his back backward. The Kitsune smirked as he released his fan to swiftly grab Wald's leg and swing the poor purple flame to the other side of the arena.
The Flaming Dark Mage was not pleased as he propelled himself forward by breaking a tree that helped with his earlier landing. However, the Kistune was expecting his opponent to rush towards him.
Tomoe decided to sway Wald's attention by kicking up some dirt into the latter's face.
"Sixth Sun: Phantom Dawntrail," conjured Tomoe as his blade was engulfed with blue flames.
The Kitsune moved his blade from his hip to above his head. Knowing the nature of that move, which can make a mirage and extend the user's blade, Wald backs off and unleashes his only defensive and offensive spell in his arsenal.
"Limbo's Citadel; Manor of Doom!" shouted Wald as the flame on his head jumped out, creating a mirage of the spell.
The flame's mirage reminded Mavislin of an ancient fort on the Northern tip of the Campania. The fake Citadel was blurry but looked powerful, made from purple and black flames.
Tomoe stepped back as he tried to assess the current situation.
"Damn, I forgot how powerful this thing is… It looks like I have to use the fan after all," grumbled Tomoe as he changed the grip on his fan, making it combust into blue flames.
Meanwhile, the Citadel mirage had formed a giant cannon, absorbing Dark and Fire Element streams into its gaping mouth to create a huge fireball.
"I'll show you the true defensive power of this fan," said Tomoe as he threw his fan upwards into the sky.
The winds around the Kitsune seemed to calm for a split Tick until he caught the fan, which prompted a substantial blue-flame shockwave. The weapon was now enormous, almost the size of the Citadel's front wall.
"The Tales of Loss and Flames, Faith reaches a standstill. The embodiment of the Devil reaches the core of my anger. Fearless hearts ablaze, forge ahead!" yelled the Kistune as power started to shake the fan.
"If you had just told me where you'd gone, I wouldn't have to be so angry enough to destroy the entire stretch of street! You… Will pay for what you put me through!" roared Wald as tears formed in the corner of his eyes.
"I've never seen Wald cry..." murmured Phanm, looking away from the battle.
Tomoe looked surprised as he finally remembered what happened the night he was forced to leave Wald. A wave of sadness and regret as the Kitsune knew that he didn't mean to leave the poor kid in the dark but had no choice and could not reach him in time.
