Chapter 5 - The Ark Of Phanm's Findings

"So… that person told me to find you for a mission… I assume it would be because of the recent incidents? I didn't want to delve into Mage-related issues too early in my reign," questioned Phanm as the duo met Tomoe and Circe, who clung to his shoulder.

"Yes, if you know both the Tribe and Syndicate's little quarrel, you'd know about the damage caused. I'm stepping in as both a Mage and the overseer of the Five Kings."

"I am Mavislin Roydon, leader of the Barren Pillars. It's an honor to meet the one who took over the Campania," greeted the Valkyrie, curtsying.

"So he ain't joking... You really are the famed Valkyrie..." said Phanm, in awe.

"And I'm Circe!" exclaimed the amber-eyed girl, who leaped into Mavislin's arms.

The Valkyrie quickly caught the young girl while Tomoe tried to say something.

"I know who you are, white fox. You really pissed my friend off so much that I'm sick of hearing your name. And judging by these beings, I'm guessing we are all going on the mission together?" asked Phanm as he slowly sheathed his twin daggers.

Tomoe's ears twitched in irritation as he crossed his arms. The Valkyrie seemed a bit confused.

"Long story short, I might have done some offhand fighting for extra pot… Plus, I target so many people and Mages; who is your friend again?" asked Tomoe tauntingly.

"I won't say."

The two glared at each other as the girls sighed. Someday, Tomoe will have an entire army of angry people after him... Oh wait, he had that one mob before...

"Listen, we've got quite the issue against us, so I need you both to cooperate. I'm so damned lucky I didn't choose my Pillars instead… I can't imagine you and Verna getting along," complained Mavislin as she headed towards the Old Chapel.

After some insults and a few pieces of Mavislin's sanity out of the window, the group finally had time to discuss the next course of action within the meeting room.

"I need to know what you've got and understand about the whole thing," started Mavislin, looking at Phanm.

"The Tribe initially wanted to attack the North of the Campania, even without provoke. I've had my underlings survey and infiltrate their base. Apparently, they aren't humans," stated Phanm as he pulled out a few sketches from his coat.

They were all drawings of meetings and some of a very posh man, monocle and top hat. That man looked very familiar, thought Mavislin. But she couldn't quite figure out who that was.

"That man was never human… The entire Tribe isn't human, but I'm not sure what they are… They might be just some Fire Mages who lost their way…" explained Mavislin, who scanned the sketches.

"They are called Pyromancers, a race of Fire Mages from Pyrovania. They died off way before the Great Noble War. The Tribe is the last surviving group of their kind," explained Tomoe as he sat down with his legs on the table.

"And how did you know about that, white fox?" asked Phanm, raising an eyebrow.

"First off, quit calling me that since you know my name. Second, I've got a bone to pick with that Tribe. If you must know, they have a life expectancy of nearly four hundred years."

"And that old guy in the monocle is the ringleader behind this cursed circus," spat Tomoe while slamming down onto the sketch of the mentioned person.

"A man who goes by the name 'Horizon'. He is the one who orchestrated the killing of the civilians and saw the kidnapping of the last dragon. That poor creature has been trapped in the Keep for quite some time. I don't know their true intentions, but I can safely say to use the Dragon Element for evil purposes," explained Tomoe.

The Valkyrie was silent as she tried to determine if she had encountered this person. And if Tomoe was correct, then this Horizon person must've had some contact with the Congregation before…

The Congregation! Old Man Pond?! Mavislin grabbed the drawing once more and heaved a sigh of relief. Old Man Pond may be old, but he still looks the same age as Gillian. Though… Poisoned Pond was skinnier and had emerald hair and eyes.

"Tomoe, do you still remember the Tribe's base of operations?" asked Mavislin while still lost in her memories.

"I do, but I don't think I can get in. The Tribe is quite powerful, and we risk another attack. They have a main base, but they also have other small bases across the Five Domain. They could bring down the nations in one coordinated attack."

"Then, we'll just find the small ones and take 'em down secretly before going to the main event," replied Phanm, stretching out his arms.
