First class finished without any drama or chaos. We were walking out of the classroom when Jazi came to my side and hugged my arm.
"Mom said you'd be having dinner at our house." She excitedly said
"I am?" I teased as I looked at Alec.
"You definitely are." Jazi giggles.
"What dinner? When? Does your Mom know Gian?" Riel's question was fired back and forth to Jazi.
I got reminded that I haven't told Riel about what happened yesterday.
I stopped in my tracks, held Riel's hand, and told Jazi and Alec that we would catch up.
I turned to Riel and held her shoulder. "I met Alec's Mom yesterday, and she asked me to come for dinner."
"What happened yesterday?" Riel asked
Knowing we have limited time before second class starts, I gave Riel a pleading look.
"I will tell you everything later, I promise." I assured her. "We have to get to class."
She gave me a darting look but gave in and started walking down the hallway without me.
Alec was already seated when we got to class, so Riel had to squeeze herself to get to her seat. She accidentally hit Alec's arm with her backpack, startling him. I know she felt it, but she chose to ignore him, not apologizing or saying a word.
"She-Devil alright?" Alec whispered
"She's fine. I think she's still adjusting to sharing me with others." I joked.
"Hhmmm..." Alec is not convinced.
I wasn't sure if Alec was showing affection or purposely teasing Riel when he was finding excuses to touch me and shower me with attention. If Riel's look can kill, she murdered Alec many times over during the duration of the class.
I tried to balance my attention between him and Riel, but instead of helping the situation, I probably made it worse. I bit my lip out of frustration and let out a heavy sigh, causing both to ease up a little.
When class ended, Alec stood to wait for me to get up and get out of my seat, then quickly followed right behind me, leaving Riel behind.
"Excuse me." The vibration and tone are enough to tell me someone is upset.
Riel got in front of me with her burning red face.
"For the rest of the day, I will be the bigger person and let this alien here do whatever he wants, but tonight, I am spending the night at your house, and I will have your undivided attention."
My lips slightly opened in surprise. She is again telling me and not asking.
It is not the time to argue or explain that I agreed to calm and pacify her. Alec didn't look happy at all and wanted to say something, but I stopped him.
"I want to get through the day with no more issues." I whispered to him.
He let out a heavy sigh and started walking by himself towards the next classroom.
I looked at Riel and placed my arm around her shoulder. "Let's go, or we will be late." I told her.
The rest of the day was quiet except for dirty looks thrown between Riel and Alec on and off. I know I wanted some fun and excitement before graduating, but this is more than what I bargained for.
We stopped at the lockers for me to switch books, then we headed to the parking lot. Before I got to Riel's car, a hand pulled me from the waist and directed me to walk three steps away from Riel's car. As I looked up, it was Alec.
"Hey!" I heard Riel yell
I turned around and told Riel to give me a minute.
"I'll call tonight, if you don't pick up, I will come over." Alec warned me.
This guy is going to make my night stressful. I have to make him realize early that I can't be controlled, if that is what he is trying to do.
"You are not calling or coming over tonight. I need to sort things out with Riel." I sternly told him.
Alec looked at me with a disappointed look and walked away. I got in Riel's car, hooked up my cell phone music to her car stereo, and played Riel's favorite song list.
As I put my seatbelt on, she turned up the volume and started singing along loudly, almost screaming. I smiled, knowing it was Riel's way of venting her anger. I turned the volume lower, and he held Riel's hand.
"I will tell you everything, as promised."
Riel's shoulder dropped, and she looked down. "I'm sorry. That alien makes me so furious. I had to vent before driving." She apologetically explained.
She started to turn the wheel when Alec pulled up in front of us, blocking our car from going anywhere. His window rolled down, and Alec turned to look at Riel.
"You have him tonight, but he is mine for the rest of your life." He winked at Riel, rolled up his window, and drove off.
I can't believe Alec said that to Riel. I was speechless.
"Asshole! You wish!" Riel screams.
I just realized that Riel wasn't surprised by what Alec said. She is mad because it's Alec, not because of what he said.
I didn't say anything as Riel drove us home. Aside from nodding to agree with her and shaking my head, I didn't say much. I was busy trying to figure out what Riel was thinking.
This entire time, I was thinking she was being overprotective of me, causing her to dislike Alec, or that she was upset because she started liking Alec, but he was mean to her during lunch at my house. Am I thinking wrong? Why didn't she react to Alec saying he own me for the rest of her life?
