Chapter 8 - Commitment

My thoughts returned to the incident in which Katelyn suddenly held her head and hissed while we were walking around our house, which we had just moved into after our wedding. Katelyn favors the garden in our house, so we went for a walk around at the garden that morning and enjoyed the cool air. I had never felt anything strange before. Everything appears to be as per usual, and I'm even pleased because Katelyn has been feeling well lately. Her health was improving from day to day.

As a result, I did not object to her desire to walk around the house and spend more time in the garden. But what happens now? She was behaving strangely and didn't seem to recognize me. Oh my God, how could that be? I can't wait to hear Elena's explanation and what we should do next. Katelyn, hopefully, is not suffering from a serious illness. I kept praying to God that she will be fine and bless her with more healthy body.

The sound of the cell phone ringing interrupted my thoughts. Because it wasn't my cell phone ringing tone, I turned to Lewis and Alden. Alden moved his hand to search his pocket for his cellphone. After a while of talking. "Elena said the test results had been published," he said. She's in her office now."

"Okay, I'll meet Elena there," said Sean while looking at Katelyn. After making sure his wife was asleep, he got up and headed for the exit. "You guys come with me," he added. All of them left the room and before headed to another room where Elena was waiting for them, he asked a nurse to wait for Katelyn in her room until they return to the room.

I shifted my gaze from the computer in front of me to the door as soon as I heard a knock. Three people I know stepped in my office. The first is Alden, a man I dated after a while taking care of Sean's wife, Katelyn. While Lewis is Sean's assistant, he is also Alden and Sean's college friend. Sean sat in front of my desk, Alden stood beside me, and Lewis stood behind Sean.

""How are the test results?" Sean inquired, his face tired and worried.

Elena began explaining each of the test results one by one. Overall, the test results revealed that all of Katelyn's organs were functioning normally. Even her weak body was not experiencing the same problems as before. It appears as if she has never had a heart problem before. It was incredible to witness everything that happened. Her memory loss became a major concern for me because nothing was mentioned about it. Furthermore, it has become a question of how long this will continue.

Of course, as her husband, I was relieved to hear that she is healthy and that her heart problem appears to have vanished, but I was also surprised by how that could have happened. Perhaps the therapy has been effective thus far, as Katelyn has refused to go for a check-up since three months ago because she feels fine. After all, I was thankful to God that everything was normal, except for her memory loss, which could be permanent or temporary.

What matters most to me is how Katelyn will live her life in the future with memories that appear to have been erased cleanly, like unstained white paper. How does she feel about it? I'm more concerned about her psychological effects in the future. Is she afraid? What is she thinking of? How should those around her interact so that she does not feel afraid or unfamiliar? How can we fully support her in dealing with her memory loss?

We then talk about what we should do for her in the future, how we should treat her, provide for her needs, and protect her. We want her to feel at ease around us, which will allow her to regain her memory.

I let out a sigh of relief after the conversation. I don't mind if she has no memories of me or if her memories are as blank as a white sheet of paper. That is not a problem for me. As long as Katelyn is with me and does not leave, I will rewrite all of our memories on her white paper memory sheet. I'd gladly refresh her memory and delight in telling her everything I know about anything. As part of our wedding vows and commitment to each other, we will walk through it together. I will do my best to protect and watch over her. I am going to make her happy for the rest of her life. I will always stay by her side.

I am prepared to face whatever the future holds and to start over. I just told Lewis to tell Aunt Jen, Uncle Sam, and the housekeepers what happened to Katelyn and what to do when Katelyn gets home. I also temporarily turned over the office to Alden and Lewis. I will only visit the office for urgent and critical matters.

We split up after discussing everything we needed to do. Lewis went home, Alden went to the office, and Elena took care of the patient.

I slowly opened Katelyn's room door. The nurse who was waiting inside the room stood up and smiled as she walked to the door, knowing that her job was complete. I nodded and said thank you to her.

After the nurse left, I approached Katelyn's bed and discovered she was still sleeping. I noticed her blanket had slipped a little, so I tidied it up, which led me to my wife's beautiful face, who was still sleeping soundly. I am pleased to see her peaceful baby-like expression as she sleeps. I naturally smile when I see her cuteness. After losing myself in my wife charm for a while, I realized I needed a shower. I decided to make the most of my free time and clean myself before she woke up.
