CHAPTER 19
"Hey." I felt a finger being trailed on my face in my near state of unconsciousness.
I opened my eyes and they were met with Richard's concerned eyes. "Richard." my voice was croaked and my throat was dry. I rose up and hugged him, seeking comfort in his arms. He wrapped his arm around me and used the other to stroke my hair gently. I leaned into, putting all my weight on him. There was no energy left in me to stay still on my own. I was weak.
"It's okay. I'm here. I'm right here." he said while stroking my hair.
"It's not true." tears welled up in my eyes again.
"I know." I sniffled. "Don't cry." That only made me cry more. He pulled back and studied my face. He wiped the tears off my cheeks with his thumbs. "Your eyes are puffy. How long have you been crying?"
"Since this afternoon." his expression darkened.
"You mean to tell me you've known about it since noon?"
I nodded slowly and looked away from him.
