Chapter 9 - Check Mate

This last week had been much easier than I thought with the young one sharing my cage. I gave him fluffy thing to cuddle with and it seemed to settle his tears at night. When they served the food, I made sure he ate his fill before I had any of it, if any was left. At night, we both curled up in the corner. He would hug the fluffy thing and curl up on my lap. When the sister or brother came with food, I always stood between them, keeping him behind me.

By the third day he became quite the chatter box. I learned he was ten and came from a well-known family to the folks outside. The family told him the last day he seen them, he was now dead to them, and no one would remember his existence. He cried as he spoke of this and I did what I could to support him. When he told me his name, he gave me Ace. Never a last name. In fact, he told me it was not even his real name but a nick name from a friend he had at school.

The day of the sale he trembled as soon as he woke. What else could I do but try and protect him. I had no idea what happens at these things. The brother and sister came together that morning. I knew right away things will not be easy. The sister held the collar with muzzle and lead set she boasted using. The brother had a smaller set, and thankfully no muzzle for Ace. When they approached the cage, Ace hid behind me as had been our new pattern.

The brother was the first to speak. "Mute. You can make this easy or hard. Either way we need you both." They both stood near the door of the cage and smiled. The brother flashed what looked like a syringe before pocketing it. "We don't have all day."

Turning to look at Ace, and putting my hand on his head he looked up. I nodded and pointed to the brother. Ace shivered but listened. They opened the cage and put the leads on him before leading him out. It seemed they were okay with letting him keep the fluffy thing in hand. I looked at the sister and walked forward for my turn. It did not take long before we were escorted out of the house.

They had placed us in some sort of enclosed vehicle, and we had been on the road for some time already. I could hear the brother and sister talking about what was going on. "Hey sis. Father just told me there is a high roller waiting for just the Mute. A few of the other buyers already bought other omegas after seeing the bid minimum set for him. He won't tell me what it is though."

"That's because he doesn't want you to fuck it up. You are horrible at your people skills."

The brother laughed. "True. Don't you think it was risky bringing these guys last? We should have brought them with the other stock."

"Are you that stupid? What happens if the warehouse gets raided before the sales? We would lose the best money maker. Father thought of everything. We are not even allowed to stay for the sale. Once we drop them off, we are going home to clean it up and prepare for new stock."

"Don't we get a fucking break? Seriously, I need a vacation."

The rest of the trip was the pair of them complaining, so I ignored the irrelevant information. Turning back to Ace I smiled for him. He needs to feel like this is okay. Though I knew it was not, I could not help but try and settle him down with what little comfort I could. They had tied us up in the van away from each other, and I think it was more for my behaviour, not because they had too. A way to keep me in control. The best I could offer was my pheromones to ease him some.

It did not take long after we parked for the pair of us to be brought out by people we had never met before. The sister and brother's bickering could not even be heard. The one handling me smelled like sweat. It was obvious he had been working non-stop for some time. "Keep the smaller one close, but far enough away they can't touch. If the mute gets unruly, we are to use the little one to keep him in check. No marks are allowed on the Mute, the little one there is a little give."

"Yes sir." The voice behind me chuckled.

I tried to look at Ace and see what they were doing, but the man handling me tugged my chains forcing the muzzle to whip my head forward. "Behave you. You're the main focus and about to be centre stage. And, to make sure you behave we will be keeping your little friend right where you can see him." They both laughed at this.

We were lead down a small hallway, faint light on the ceiling, illuminating enough to know where to go. As we neared another door, I could hear some noise. A small crowd of people could be faintly heard. Ace behind me whimpered, but when I moved to support him, my handler jerked my chains. "Settle down."

When Ace whimpered once more, I grabbed the lead and pulled back. My handler did not expect that, but he still laughed. "Don't tempt us omega. His life is nothing compared to yours. He can be sold with marks." Pulling at my chain once more he pulled me into the room. I could hear Ace following behind me, and that was the only reason I followed.

The room we entered was much brighter. I had to squint my eyes until they adjusted. It did not help that the walls and floor were painted a bright white, reflecting the light right to me. As I was pulled to the centre, Ace was left near the door. My handler allowed me to look around while he set my leads up on a pole in the middle. Above me were rooms of who I guessed would be buyers. They were set up in a way as not to be able to see each other. Behind me was the one who would take the bids I guessed. He was not alone on the stage. Two people, one on each side seemed to be his helpers for something.

Looking back to the men in the rooms, one stood out. Unlike the rest who were leaning in their seats in anticipation, he was standing up and looking down at myself and Ace. I turned back to see how Ace was and realized they took the fluffy thing from him, not allowing him any comfort amongst the people. Grabbing my leads, I pulled them trying to gain any space to get to him but failed.

"Tied tight. You won't be seeing your friend much after today I recon. Better listen to us. No clue what your new owner will have planned with the pair of ya." His words had me look back at him. "Oh? Were you uninformed that the brat is being sold as your training tool? Well, surprise." The handler walked off and now stood by Ace, leaving me alone in the middle.

When the sale started, I ignored the fast-speaking man. Ace was my concern. The amount of pheromones when it started was over whelming. For some reason I never really struggled with them, except the smells were sometimes a little more disgusting than rotten fish, but I could see that Ace was fighting to stay standing. When he finally fell to his knees the handler grabbed his collar and pulled him up forcefully, then I lost it.

I walked slowly to the very end that they allowed then started to pull. They wanted me unmarked, then they had better stop hurting Ace. The chain that held my muzzle was the hardest of the many with how it tried to turn my head when I pulled against it. To help I brought my hands up to the one attached to it and held it with my hands. When the handlers ignored me, I decided to try one more thing.

I walked backwards to the pole then prepared to run forward. Before I could make my move, I felt a sharp pinch in the back of my neck and within seconds my world went black as men around me yelled.

*Atlas View*

Once they brought out the omega, I sent my signal. I stood up watching the pair of them and the reactions they had together. Stuck while waiting for my team to enter and block exits, I had to watch as they set him up away from the pup. It was evident from the beginning this made the older one uneasy. From what the doctor said they had been together only about a week, so he should not have been that attached. Then again, I have no idea how he was treated the last few years either. Pretending to cough, I took a suppressant. The alphas in the building were now trying to overpower each other while bidding, hoping it helps back down weaker alphas. The omega in my room whimpered, while I kept mine under control and continued my observations.

My men arrived just in time. As planned, the first agent darted the omegas on the sales floor before the rest stormed the place. I felt relief as the older one fell to his knees. I feel he was about to really hurt himself to protect the younger one. Now I had to wait. Sitting down, I could only wait for the outcome. My area was quiet for a long while before Gekka finally called me.

"Hey boss. How ya holding out?" His voice was a little out of breath.

"Well, it is quiet in my room. How is everything going outside?" I sighed hoping for the best.

"Better than you're thinking I bet. You can come out now. We have rounded up everyone. The international folks were able to capture a few of their own. All omegas have been accounted for as well. We have a long night a head of us trying to set them all up in safe zones. I am almost at your room." He then hung up.

Turning to the omega in the room I spoke up. "Do you have family that would take you in?"

She looked at me with tears. "I have a brother. He doesn't know where I am though. Are we really free?"

Getting up I walked over and took off the collar she wore. "Yeah. My team caught everyone. We can help you get a hold of your family, but until then there will be safe houses you can stay at."

"Um. Can you help the one called they called the Mute, he was just on the sale?" She looked down at her feet. "He was always forced to do what they wanted. He always fought them until they started to threaten us. He never even would see us half the time, but he still took their abuse to protect us."

"You knew him?" She smiled when she looked back up.

"Of course. Any at the house knew of him. We were so happy to find out they finally gave him someone to share a cage with. Even though it was a short time; he at least had some joy. At least, we hope he did."

"He will be safe now. The younger one has a family willing to adopt him already if he needs one, and we will do our best for the older one. Is there anything else you can tell me about him?" As I asked Gekka walked in.

"Ah! You had one too? Every buyer had one. Most are in okay shape, but a couple are headed to hospital. We are ready to head out and let the authorities take over. By the way. You-know-who, is pissed." Gekka wiggled his eyebrows.

"Like I care about some uptight brass. We did not have a tip off this time, and that is all I could ask for. How are the pair of males?" Gekka lead the omega out to our staff while we wandered back to our car.

"Well boss. The younger one has already woken up. We have his real name, but he wants to go by Ace now. His family sold him off when he presented. He is excited that another family wants him, but he is worried about his friend." Gekka and I had little travel time to get back to headquarters. "As for the older one, Ace's friend. Well, it is best you see for yourself."
