Chapter 24 - A not so ordinary school day

[Luminous Conquest], a multiple award-winning novel, the number 1 ranked novel on Webnovel, even becoming so famous that it received a manhwa adaptation. This novel, which was said to be a masterpiece, had one glaring flaw: The Plot Holes.

The author, going by the pen name ICantWrite1, gained overnight success with his novel. Various organizations contacted him, trying to get on good terms with this prodigious writer. His story could envelop readers, causing them to feel a range of emotions and invoking a sense of attachment to the novel. His life was on a clear path to success, from anime adaptation offers to interviews. ICantWrite1 had captured the world with his novel.

Though it seems the gods had other plans. At the peak of his career, fans from all over the world received devastating news: ICantWrite1 got stage 4 cancer and had less than 6 months to live. Fans were devastated, especially since at that point, [Luminous Conquest] was still incomplete leaving fans with distraught at not being able to get the ending.

But even on his deathbed, ICantWrite1 worked tirelessly, determined to finish the novel even as the cold grip of death slowly claimed his life.

And he managed to do it. Just a week before his death, he finished the novel. Yet, in the process, because of the limited time, lots of plot holes and mysteries had been left unexplained.

One such plot hole was Valoris Celeris, the 3rd ranked student in the first year, someone with a trait so powerful that in the future he wiped out a whole legion of S-ranked demons alone. Although some details were given about his backstory, his origins and many other factors about his past were left out, leaving fans to speculate on who he really was.

An unknown student who didn't come from any of the top families swooping in and taking third place in such a prestigious academy had many guilds and even the Central Union wanting to recruit him.

As Bellator sat looking at Valoris, he quickly noticed his gaze as their eyes locked, prompting Bellator to quickly look away.

Ahead of them, the rest of their classmates kept admiring the main characters, leaving only Bellator, Felicta, and Valoris seated.

After staring at the main characters for long enough, Bellator quickly lost interest as he laid on the desk, ready for a quick nap. Though it seemed that was wishful thinking as before his head could even touch the desk.

A loud clap reverberated around the classroom, prompting all the students to look forward. There, seated in her chair facing the class, stood the teacher.

A reformed criminal who in the past left a sea of corpses in her wake, someone whose presence is only known if she willingly allows it to be felt, a legend known for never failing her previous job, a world-class assassin, and also the adoptive mother of Lumenia, Vespera Lucida.

Walking in donning a plain white tee and some leggings, her short orange hair tied in a ponytail, accompanied by her brown eyes, brought about a sense of ease—not something you should be feeling from someone who at one point was the most wanted human in the world. Exuding a positive aura, she smiled as she looked at her new class.

"Okay, before we start, everyone back to your seats."

Within seconds, all students were back in their seats. No one wanted to get on the bad side of this lady.

"Good. Now, as most of you know, my name is Vespera Lucida."

Walking ahead, she quickly arrived at the seat where Lumenia was seated as she continued speaking.

"As most of you should know, this beautiful girl right here is my little angel, and if any one of you dare mess with her...Well, I probably don't need to explain what will happen to you," Vespera said, her voice cheerful. A collective gulp could be heard as boys who had already been planning on flirting with Lumenia avoided her gaze.

"Now, enough with the formalities. I look forward to the year, and I'm very excited to be your teacher."

Claps could be heard as the class, although fearful, admired Vespera. It was well known that she had quit being an assassin and had helped the Central Union tremendously to make up for her crimes.

"Now, it's time for roll call," she said, rolling her eyes, clearly annoyed by her own job.

'That damn old man, if only I didn't owe him a favor I would never work here,' Vespera thought. Though unaware of her thoughts, the students sat silently.

"Rank 1, Felix Luminous," Vespera called out.

"Present," a smooth voice could be heard as girls all over the class started blushing.

"Rank 2, Seraphina Nightshade."

"Present," a beautiful voice hung in the air, causing all the males to gaze at her.

"Rank 3, Valoris Celeris." A deep voice hung in the air, all eyes were on him, as people looked at the unknown underdog, someone who before the academy was invisible but after getting his rank had garnered worldwide attention.

"Present."

Even the main characters looked each with a different expression on their face. Felix had a grin on his face as he looked at a potential rival.

Seraphina looked interested for a second before she shifted back to being uninterested.

Julius who had thought he would've gotten the third rank clenched his hands as a resolve filled him.

And Lumenia just stared examining him.

Bellator on the other hand was also interested, looking at the unknown variable within the novel.

"Rank 4, Julius Nightshade."

"Present."

"Rank 5, My Angel"

"Mom" Lumenia complained as a crimson hue covered her cheeks

After calling out a few more extras, Felicta was finally called out.

"Rank 643, Felicta Silvius."

"Present." A meek voice traveled through the air.

Finally, after nearly calling out everyone in his class, Bellator for the first time found out what rank he was.

"Rank 2000, Bellator Arctic."

"Present."

Hearing his name, all the gazes of his classmates fell on him.

"Did she just say Arctic, like The Arctic?" One student whispered as he spoke to his friend.

The whole class immediately broke out into chatter as they all stared at Bellator, trying to find out his origins.

Even the main characters stared at him surprised, as the children of the most influential people they should've at least heard if there was an Arctic who was their age especially with their influence.

"Is he really Lucius' brother?" Felix asked, surprised.

"He can't be, it's not possible," Julius replied confidently, thinking there was a misunderstanding.

"It's possible," Seraphina responded.

"Don't you remember the scandal of the head of the Arctic family impregnating a maid? Even years later, they still talked about it."

"But didn't they say she had a miscarriage?" Felix asked, confused.

"I guess not," Lumenia replied with interest in her eye.

"He is handsome, and he shares the same white hair; he has to be an Arctic," Lumenia responded.

"Enough." A loud voice reverberated around the room, making all students go quiet.

'Oh, thank goodness, dealing with all those stares felt awkward.'

As Vespera's voice echoed, an eerie silence filled the class.

"Good, now you may all be dismissed; there are no lessons for today, so feel free to go train or explore the academy," Vespera said as she dismissed the class.

As students slowly started approaching Bellator's seat, hoping to question him, he quickly stood up as he darted towards the door without looking back.

As he left the class, a boy with black hair and eyes of the same color gritted his teeth.

"So he was a freaking Arctic, no wonder that jerk was so brave," the kid said as he slowly left the class with his lackeys.

Arriving in his room, Bellator collapsed on his bed as he decided to take a nap.
