Chapter 28 - A 'Mere' Combat Class 2

Strength.

What is strength? Is it physical might—the power to trample others under your feet, the power to instill fear in those who can do nothing against you? Or is it intellect—the power to craft powerful strategies, the genius to revolutionize the world, the innate cunning that comes with it?

In Bellator's previous world, it was intellect that ruled. Those with intelligence were the rulers of the world, those who could craft cunning schemes making the masses believe their every word.

But on Terra, the world of [Luminous Conquest], Mana was power. Being able to manipulate this mystical force allowed extraordinary feats, such as changing whole terrains, burning down whole cities, controlling the dead—Mana was a force that made the impossible possible.

And now, in front of Bellator, stood two figures, each able to manipulate this mystical force. Stars formed in Bellator's eyes as he eagerly awaited to witness a fight that would dwarf any from his previous world.

*Tap.*

*Tap.*

*Tap.*

His eagerness showed as his foot tapped hard on the floor—a habit that had followed him from his previous world.

'They're Extras, but nonetheless, it should be interesting.'

"Begin," an AI blared through the dome's speakers. Screams filled the room as the classes eagerly watched the match.

Charging ahead, a boy with orange hair immediately dashed forward, flames materializing around his whole body, scorching the floor. His fists tightly clutched his chains as his body moved at intense speeds, approaching his enemy.

His opponent, a silver-haired boy, wasn't sitting idle though; wind enveloped his feet, moving him at tremendous speeds, surpassing that of the orange-haired individual.

As the fire user attacked, his chains moved like snakes, approaching their prey, the fire enveloping them. The Wind user, agile as a ballerina, deftly dodged all the attacks, moving seamlessly through them.

The orange-haired boy, mad, channeled more mana to his chains, changing the once-orange flames to an extreme blue. As his chains moved at an even faster speed, they grazed his opponent's shoulder, causing a soldering wound to form, the strength in the attack forcing a pained grunt to leave the silver-haired boy's mouth.

The silver-headed boy's uniform, which had gotten a burn from the attack, quickly closed itself as its self-fixing ability showed.

[150 damage received by Class B]

"You can do this, show those Class B scum we are better," one of the students in Bellator's class cheered.

Pissed, hundreds of wind blades formed around the silver-haired boy, causing his hair to get ruffled. He moved at godly speeds. As every attempt the chain made to attack was quickly deflected by a wind blade, allowing the silver-haired boy to close the distance.

Air formed around his palm as he landed a square attack on his opponent's chest. His strength, amplified by the wind, sent his opponent flying mid-air.

[250 damage received by Class D]

But the fire user wouldn't be a student of such a prestigious school if that was all it took to knock him out. So doing a flip, he landed safely on the floor. Too bad he had been too slow, as before he could comprehend what was happening, an axe kick landed squarely on his head. Blood gushed from his mouth, staining the floor. Grinding his teeth, a look of anger appeared on his face.

As an explosion of fire erupted from him, the heat so strong that it could be felt from outside the dome, the Wind user, having been so close, had taken the brunt of the attack. Second-degree burns appeared on his skin, and his hair, which had been a beautiful silver, had been burnt as patches of his hair were missing.

Laughter erupted from the crowd as they stared at his new appearance.

'Aren't they going too far?' Bellator pondered, seeing the scale of their attacks.

Though when he glanced at the teachers, they seemed unbothered, as if that much damage was not enough to call off the match.

'Are these people psychopaths?' Bellator thought, and in the stands, Vespera laughed.

"It seems I have to go all out," the previously silver-haired boy exclaimed, his voice laced with anger.

Three huge tornadoes materialized around him as they encircled the fire user, the intensity of the wind so strong cuts appeared all over the fire user's body.

Using the wind, the silver-haired boy sent the fire user into the air before appearing in front of him faster than normal eyes could perceive.

And mid-air, he sent an axe kick directly to the fire user's head, causing his body to hit the ground with a resounding thud.

Knocking the fire user out instantly.

[Instant Knockout - Winner is Class B] The AI announced, causing the whole arena to roar out in screams.

Members of Class D had their heads down in shame, but their confidence still lingered as, even with one elimination, in the end, they still had the main characters in their class.

'HOW THE FUCK ARE THOSE EXTRAS?' Bellator thought, surprised by the sheer strength of the students.

'If those are Extras, then I'm fucked.'

With the match coming to an end, the AI announced the next participants as two new figures entered the dome. Bellator eagerly watched the matches, but as more students fought, an eerie feeling crept up in Bellator's heart.

His hands shook as Bellator, for the first time, realized how weak he truly was.

'I have to fight those monsters,' Bellator thought, looking at the students of Limitless Academy. As he watched the unfolding matches, Bellator's heartbeat quickened as anticipation for his own match formed.

'I thought that as long as I didn't fight the main characters, it wouldn't be that bad. Of course, I'm not delusional enough to think I would win, but it doesn't matter who I fight; I will be beaten to a pulp.'

And it seems that his thoughts were correct as the AI announced the next fight.

Bellator Arctic vs...
