Chapter 34 - Umbrux Lux (2)

"If hyenas a psycho, this lady's an asylum," Umbrux thought, avoiding the woman's gaze, but she quickly ran up to him.

"Aww, my little baby, did he hurt you?" The lady said with a tinge of craziness in her voice.

"Don't worry, I won't allow anyone to hurt you ever again," she said, pulling Umbrux into her embrace as she ruffled his hair.

Although this lady didn't seem like the most sane person, she was the leader of their organization, a woman who held a huge grudge against the Central Union.

"Yeah, thanks," Umbrux replied awkwardly, not wanting to antagonize the woman.

"So how did it go? I have high hopes for you. I know you won't disappoint me... Would you?" The woman asked, releasing a bit of her pressure.

"I did it," Umbrux said, still accepting the fact he took a human life.

"Good, I knew you had potential as soon as you walked through those doors," the woman happily said before letting go of him.

'How did I get myself involved in all this?' Umbrux contemplated.

"Let's go and train," the woman said cheerfully, her demeanor quickly changing.

Although she was crazy, she had become notoriously known for her immense strength and intelligence coupled with her split personality, which could change on a whim. She was someone no one messed with.

One second she was a kind and doting person, the next moment someone's head goes flying for breathing too loud.

Just like hyena, no one knew her real name, the only clue to her identity being her nickname, Clown, which suited her well due to her strange abilities.

Following the woman to a huge open field, Umbrux quickly equipped his gauntlets, preparing himself for a ruthless beatdown.

Standing in a huge arena , everyone watched, their malicious gazes staring intently at what was about to occur.

"How long do you think he'll last this time?" Hyena asked, laughing as he talked to his subordinates.

"Depends on whether 'she' comes out or not," one of them responded, his laughter echoing.

"Alright, here I come, sweetie," Clown said, her smooth voice filled with gentleness.

While Umbrux wielded his gauntlets, all Clown wielded were a stack of playing cards, shuffling them in her hands.

Throwing a joker card towards him, its speed inconceivable to normal eyes, flew through the air.

'Shit, it's yellow,' Umbrux thought, looking at its aura.

Dodging the card while crossing his arms, scales quickly covered Umbrux's arms. The card, which had slightly missed his face, disappeared, and in its place, Clown could be seen, her legs aiming straight for his chest, causing Umbrux's body to fly backward.

"I'm proud of you, my angel," Clown said, seeing Umbrux manage to block her attack.

'Fuck, if I didn't see the aura of the card, I would've been screwed.'

Before Umbrux could process his thoughts, another card went flying towards him, this time an ace.

'Fuck, not green,' Umbrux thought, looking at the card's aura.

'I need to close the distance; I can't deal with her cards,' Umbrux thought.

The ace quickly disappeared, being replaced by a huge ball of flames, the intensity of which could be felt from the sidelines.

Stomping his feet on the earth, a huge boulder lifting up from the ground as Umbrux used it as a makeshift shield.

Planting his feet deeply into the ground, the fireball and boulder collided, causing Umbrux to be pushed back, but he stood, firmly grabbing onto his diminishing shield.

But before he had time to recuperate, at the corner of his eyes, he saw another card.

'Shit, yellow again.'

Preparing himself for the attack, the card, like previously, transformed, Clown's figure replacing it as a grin appeared on her face.

Reaching for Umbrux's neck, he quickly dodged, grabbing her wrist and pulling her closer towards him, his fist clenched, his emotions high as he finally landed a punch on her cheek.

"YEE AAAAHHHHHHH," the crowd cheered, their expressions surprised that he had landed a punch. Since he first arrived, Umbrux had been unable to even land a finger on her, even though she had restricted her rank to one lower than his, giving him a huge advantage.

'I did it,' Umbrux thought excitedly, but that was short-lived as Clown stared at him.

"Sweetie, did you just hit me?" She asked sweetly, though her eyes conveyed a different message.

'Fuck.'

Multiple cards hurled towards him, filling Umbrux's vision with multiple auras. A huge fireball hurled towards him as the other card transformed into Clown.

She now stood behind him as the fireball was ahead of him, grabbing his neck. She made sure he couldn't dodge as a scorching heat blasted him.

His body collapsed, burns all over him, as Clown stood over his collapsed body.

"Oh no, sweetie, are you okay?" Clown asked worriedly, her expression one of sadness.

"Mana drain," Umbrux mumbled, grabbing onto Clown's leg.

The mana in her body quickly started depleting as the wounds in his body closed.

"You brat, what are you doing?" Clown said, stomping on his hand.

He quickly let go, slowly standing up. His figure swayed as he stood up, glaring at Clown with a murderous aura.

"If I can't handle this much, I'll never get my revenge," Umbrux said, his blindfold which had been burned disappeared and all that could be seen were his milky white eyes, showing his impairment

The scales on his hands hardened, as a single word left his mouth.

"DIE."

Clown collapsed, her knees hitting the floor.

The crowd watched with bated breath, their excitement palpable as they looked at the scene.

'I knew my baby was special,' Clown thought, blood leaking from her nose.

"Sweetie, are you trying to kill me?" Clown said as a huge grin appeared on her face.

"I think you need a time out," she said, standing up. Whatever Umbrux had done to her seemed to have momentarily worked, but she quickly stood up, throwing a card at his neck.

Seeing the force from the attack, a girl who had previously been watching dashed towards the arena.

The card flew at an unprecedented speed, stronger than the previous ones, as it hurtled towards his neck.

"NO!" the girl screamed, her figure running towards the field, standing in front of the attack as her head went flying.

Her headless body spasmed before collapsing.

"YEEEEAAAAHHHH," the crowd screamed as the girl's lifeless body fell on the ground.

The attack, even after going through the girl's body, held immense strength as it embedded itself in Umbrux's chest.

Umbrux's body collapsed; it seemed that he had used too much strength.as a fleeting thought entered his mind

'That fucking psycho'
