The first thing that came to her mind after recovering from shock was a question: Why did Lucian want to visit that island?
However, what overwhelmed her most was the possibility of finally returning to the island again. She couldn't go because of her circumstances, but with Lucian, she always felt like she could do anything; that was how reliable he was in her eyes.
Swallowing these growing emotions, Aerine asked in a low voice.
"Why?"
She could only ask that one word.
Lucian's deep gaze bore into her, like he always did.
"Do things always need a reason?" Lucian's question made Aerine's eyelids shoot up, her astounded eyes meeting his.
Aerine repeated the question in her mind. If she were to ask, Aerine would say yes. Didn't everyone need any reason to do something? Were there people who didn't need any reason to do something?
