The sun had already set, and it was already dark. Since they were still on this island, they chose to stay for the night. Lucian also didn't have an opinion on this.
"Is this okay?" Aerine broke the silence and inquired, avoiding looking at Lucian.
Her eyes were fixed on the small bonfire that Lucian had set for them. They were staying in the small cottage, and it was only the two of them. The pilot that was with them was nowhere to be found, but the helicopter was still there.
Aside from the waves and the sounds of insects, it was particularly silent between them. Still, it wasn't uncomfortable at all. But instead, it gave an overall sense of peace.
"What do you mean?"
Aerine could feel Lucian's gaze shifting toward her. She swallowed and slowly faced Lucian. Their eyes met, and most of his features were outlined by the shadow, creating an increased sense of mystery.
"Uh... Is it okay for you to stay here on the island with me?"
