"My original name was Jenna Ross," Jen said, without warning while Sebastian was focused on destroying his breakfast, "My mother is Joyce Ross, I took her name."
"And my name is Sebastian Day, next to meet you." Sebastian reached out for a handshake jokingly, "You don't owe me an explanation."
Even though he was confused by Jen's conversation with Victor, sitting in the dark living room, waiting for her to come back had brought him more perspectives:
Everybody has secrets.
Jen must have a past, just like he did. And it shouldn't matter.
If reliving her past makes her feel more pain, then he rather not know about it.
"But I do." Jen answered, holding the butter knife, going in for a big chunk of jam, "We both need to know more about each other, this is the only way our 'relationship' could be better. The fake one and the real one."
"The fake one? I think we are very real." Sebastian caught up to her hidden meanings.
"No, we are good friends and partners, but now we need to pretend like we are dating."
"I don't see much pretending," Sebastian put down his sandwich, wiped his hand on the napkin, and pulled down his collar, "Ms. Mosqito, you were going to eat me alive."
"No, no, you said it was a bug bite!" Jen gasped, refusing to believe him, "Sorry, I told you I have a bad history."
"So you also went around and sucked other men's necks?" Sebastian said with a hint of jealousy.
"No, not like that, not men, just Jackson. I bit his ear once, he was crying about that for weeks..."
"I have always felt like Jackson liked you, maybe that's why."
"Don't be ridiculous, he is just my friend. Like you are."
"Oh we are way past that, Jenna," Sebastian put his collar back up straight, "If I were not the gentleman that I am, you were not going to stop last night." He stood up from the chair, staring at Jen, "I will let you finish eating. When you are done, I have something to show you in my room." Then he left the dining area while Jen's face was so red that she could cosplay an apple without makeup.
"What have I done?" Jen tried very hard to recall what happened last night but nothing came up.
When Jen finally stopped stalling, she went up to Sebastian's room.
"What do you have to show me?" She tried to keep her cool, but the next second, she couldn't help herself anymore, "A puppy? Where did you get a puppy?"
Sebastian was sitting on his bed, holding the cutest Pomeranian you could ever see- it was so small but fluffy, quietly staring at the world with big black eyes.
"This is Poppy, Victor's baby," Sebastian answered, "I wanted to show you yesterday but he insisted that we should 'talk business' first, so Poppy and all the rest of her family were locked in their room."
"Wait, there is more of this cutie?" Jen couldn't help the shrinking, she wanted to steal Poppy from Sebastian's hands but she was still embarrassed about giving him bite marks.
"They are in their room, two doors next to yours. Victor has a thing for animals, he kept bringing in strays so he had to buy a new place for them. But Rosa Land hosts some of the babies as well. You are welcome to go play with them. Just be careful that some of them might not be fully friendly yet, especially if they are new here."
Sebastian handed Jen the puppy, and gestured her to sit down, "She looks very small, but Victor feeds them too much. She is quite heavy if you hold her for a long time."
"Oh don't say that, Poppy is perfect," Jen said, then looked at Sebastian and mouthed out the words:" They will understand, be careful or she will bite your nose off!"
"Like this?" Sebastian moved forward, his nose almost touching Jen's nose, she froze on the spot.
Before she knew what to do, Sebastian got even closer and Jen had to close her eyes- He bit her, to be precise, he bit her nose.
Jen's instinct was to push him away or even give him a good slap, but she couldn't possibly put Poppy on the floor and scare her like that.
"Why did you do that?" The only thing she could do at the moment was to scream at Sebastian.
"Nothing, just giving you back what you did. You bit me many many times, by the way, I just did it once." Sebastian smiled, "And also, I just felt like it."
Jen was left in shock- Sebastian had always been a gentle, reserved person, why would he suddenly start acting so weird in front of her? Was there something else that happened last night?
Sebastian saw through her thoughts and said, "Don't worry, nothing happened between us last night. But you did say something that you probably shouldn't say. So now, here we are."
He pulled out a laptop from his backpack and started working on something, Jen was still holding Poppy. Poppy started getting a little too comfortable sitting in Jen's arms and even started snoring a bit.
"I wanted to see if you meant what you said. I hope I didn't hurt you with the bite." Sebastian walked over to Jen, with a document he just typed out.
"What is this? Wait, what did I say?" Jen didn't want to move a muscle and wake Poppy, but she could see that on the screen, it said 'Relationship Agreement'.
"Did Victor send you this?" She asked.
"No, I did," Sebastian said, "I want this to be worth it, for both of us, even though we did start this agreement related to YD and a lot of other things. But I want this to be the beginning of something special."
"How would you know that it would be something good or worthy? Maybe Victor will come back soon and tell us he made a mistake, and that I can go!" Jen was a little confused by what Sebastian said.
"Because, Ms. Jenna Ross, I would have asked you out anyway." Sebastian put down his laptop, and got close to Jen again, "This mess is just giving me a chance to ask you out earlier."
"How do you know I would say yes?"
"Oh, I don't," He said, squinting his eyes to look at Jen, "But drunk Jenna did, so I thought, why not?"
Jen was speechless, she knew that Sebastian wasn't going to tell her exactly what happened.
"But don't worry, you can make the choice, you can always choose. I want you to be happy, preferably with me." Sebastian took sleepy Poppy away from Jen, "I didn't do anything last night if that's what you are worried about."
"I would never do that," Sebastian said again, with a very serious face, "Never, when you are drunk out of your mind. And I want it to be something special for us."
