Chereads / Love in Destiny: We Are The One / Chapter 6 - "Look at Me"

Chapter 6 - "Look at Me"

People often think that the world of business is so complicated and fancy- people with the most money are able to do whatever they want.

But what people don't usually realize is that the business wars between companies could take the silliest form- with or without money, they are still human.

And sometimes, they are quite childish.

Sebastian felt like a puppy that had been thrown out on the street.

The disappointment in Lynn's eyes, the red marks on Jen's wrists, the foreseeable gossip from the hotel staff... This was what he was always afraid of.

He hated being seen as the clueless rich child who was just too lucky to have everything in life.

He has been trying for his whole life to break this bias but the morning he woke up with Jen tied up next to him- it was over.

But Jen seemed unconventionally unbothered by this-

she had always been on the chill side with most things, the first time they met, the first time he offended her with his panic kiss, and many other things...

Jen almost pushed Sebastian into her little rented apartment but he had never felt so strange- not so long ago he woke up next to her in that ungodly outfit, and now she was pushing him into her home? To be alone again?

"Who hurt you, Jen?" Sebastian couldn't help asking, "Why do you want bad things to happen to yourself?"

"Who that I want bad things to happen, you think I am stupid?"

"Then why are you taking ME home? I don't think I did but I might have hurt you..."

"Didn't I tell you, I GOT YOU, and it was not your fault Come on." Jen quickly changed into her fluffy slipper, threw her bag on the sofa, and pointed at the fridge," You want something to drink? Also, where is the USB? I asked you to bring the video, remember?"

"Do you want to go over that again? Again?" Sebastian was still standing by the door at this point, he didn't feel comfortable enough to get inside, honestly, if he could, he would be crying at this point.

"No, I want to show you something. But hey, it really isn't that serious. What if it happened?"

Sebastian went quiet.

He had no idea what she was implying.

Based on the cheesy plots he had saw on TV, this would be the moment the women start crying and asking for compensation- threatening to make a big deal out of this but right now, Jen seemed to be the one in control of the situation.

Jen rolled her eyes, she had what you would call siren eyes, making her look quite unfriendly to most of the people she met for the first time.

When she rolled her eyes in class once, she was told that she looked like a mad fox who thought whoever was in front of her was just not good enough.

Sebastian was practically dragged into her living room, with a new pair of fluffy slippers that were too big for him- and too pink.

He was surprised to see Jen's real aesthetics- he assumed she would be more of a beige or even goth girl, but everything here looked so vibrant and alive.

Jen sat him down on the sofa, went away for several minutes then came back with a glass of warm honey water.

"Drink. You need this, this is good for a hangover."

Sebastian didn't want to doubt Jen, although he couldn't help but think how funny it felt to see her in such a home.

"I don't remember us drinking that much." He mumbled but still took the drink from Jen.

Jen opened her laptop and started playing with the USB drive that Sebastian never wanted to see again.

"Good that you look a tiny bit happier now. You were so upset just now even after I told you many times it was not your fault. Nor mine. You were set up, you silly goose."

Jen turned her laptop screen to Sebastian and pointed at the image he did not want to see again- the two of them, together, in that hotel room.

"That's not me," Jen said, wanted to zoom in but her old laptop was stuck, so she decided to manually move it closer to Sebastian's face.

"Ah, please, if you don't want that honey water to be all over your floor, take that image away from me..." Sebastian was not ready to see that again.

"Do you want me to get naked and show you? What is so wrong with this image, come on, you can barely see anything private... Just see, OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES."

Sebastian didn't understand why would Lynn find him such an "assistant"?

She was disinterested, too chill, and now she was too demanding.

"You see that girl's legs? See how smooth and beautiful that looks?" Jen pointed at the screen again, "I don't have that. I don't have those legs."

While she was saying that, she started lifting her dress- "You see, I have these."

"NOO---" Before Sebastian could stop her, Jen was already halfway done with her dress, she was half naked now...

"Jen, I can see your underwear..." Sebastian wished he was still dreaming and all of this was just a joke.

"No, look, look at my kneecaps." Jen didn't seem to be bothered, and she didn't understand why Sebastian would have such a huge reaction, it was not like she was actually naked, this was more than what people would wear near the beach.

Sebastian knew if he didn't listen to her, she would never let him go. So he opened his eyes and took a look at Jen's legs-

Red, bumpy scars.

Both of her kneecaps were covered in scars.

"You know why I didn't wear short dresses? And I didn't like the other dresses you picked for me for your 'I'm sorry' dinner? Speaking of which, you would probably get me another 'I'm so so sorry dinner'."

"So... What does this mean?" Sebastian took another look at the screen- that was indeed not Jen's legs.

"That means, it's ok. If anybody ever uses this tape to blackmail you, I will just show them my legs. I usually never wear shorts, so not a lot of people know. Luckily. Or you would probably be sent back to whatever country they are going to throw you in now."

Jen casually let go of her dress to cover up her legs againand started walking around her apartment, fixing her stuffed animal decorations.

"But, I don't understand, did I sleep with another girl and they changed her face into yours?" Sebastian was awfully confused.

"No, I don't think that was you. What, kinda disappointed that you didn't get to have a good time? HAHAHA" Jen started making fun of Sebastian, but she knew he must be in so much doubt right now, she just wanted to lighten the mood.

"I'm pretty sure, it was set up because they knew that we were going to have dinner, they put something in our food, then used whatever technology or just simply found 2 people that look like us to film something, then changed their faces into ours, and wanted to frame you."

Jen started explaining her thoughts.

"But that sounds like a lot of work, why would anyone do that?" Sebastian didn't quite follow.

"To get your position in YD, I'm pretty sure. To put you behind bars, even. The press conference is closed now." Jen took a sip of her cup of honey water, "You still owe me dinner, wanna order something now?"
