Sandra's words kept ringing in my head. How cruel it sounded to me. To us. To werewolves.
"Those monsters killed Sophie! Those werewolves killed my daughter, Alice."
Monsters? Did people really think about us like that even though we never bothered them? Did they still call us monsters despite us living in a secluded area away from them?
My mind flew back to the time when I met Harvey for the first time. I also said that cruel words to him. To them. My heart clenched in pain because I was in their shoes now. Being told as a monster who killed someone for fun. I couldn't even imagine how hurt Harvey felt when I was the one who told him that.
I am his mate. And my words definitely wounded him deeper.
"I'm sorry," I said quietly after we drove back in silence for a while.
He looked at me for a second before going back to stare at the road ahead of us.
