Chapter 3 - Leveling Up

The three skeletons motionless turned their skulls, and their empty eye sockets looked towards the target.

Detecting the zombies, they ran down the stairs to kill them.

Two skeletons bare-handed, one person entangled one, the sword skeleton stood aside, the iron sword in his hand kept swinging and hacking at the zombie.

Wu Hen followed his example, using the shield to fend off the reaching claws and splashes of corrupted blood.

The short spear in his hand pierced the zombie's body unsystematically through the hollow skeleton.

One after another, making several stabbing motions.

The reason why he chose a short spear was also the only one after attempts.

It was very difficult to open a bow and arrow, and the accuracy of arrows required long practice, often pulling the bow and releasing arrows while maintaining accuracy was beyond an ordinary person.

The sword was the most common weapon in the city.

However, after nearly severing his own neck when trying it out, he listened to the advice of the blacksmith owner and chose a short spear.

Stabbing and striking, it also had good killing power.

It was still easier for a novice to start without harming himself.

Soon the two zombies they had attracted were killed by the combined force and fell to the ground in a bloody mess looking pitiful.

These zombies Wu Hen actually knew.

They were all neighbors who lived with him in the same building.

Only now they had become enemies of each other.

Releasing the "Skeleton Service" technique, two more skeleton warriors roared.

Seeing that the zombies were not approaching, he ordered, thinking about it.

- Follow me!

Taking the skeletons with him, he turned around and went back to the room.

After closing the door behind him, Wu Hen sat down on a chair and began to regain his strength.

Although the main battles were led by the skeleton warriors, due to the intense mental strain and physical exhaustion, he felt exhausted.

In terms of attributes, physical strength or power were not his strengths.

But what he could use now was just ordinary close combat attacks.

After resting for a while, Wu Hen went to the kitchen and found two more kitchen knives, replacing the mop handle and fruit knife.

Movement to the first floor...

Carefully looking around the corner.

The green staircase door, somewhat battered but still tightly closed, cordoned off the outer side of the staircase from the inside.

The faint sound of scratching on the door panel could be heard.

Fortunately, the door was closed, otherwise the zombies outside would have rushed in and it would have been difficult to fight them.

After ordering the skeleton warrior, he piled debris on the doorway, completely sealing the stair door.

Anyway, it was unlikely to be used in the future.

When everything was blocked, Wu Hen proceeded to implement the next plan.

Approaching the door of the first tenant, he took out the bronze key, carefully turned it, and the door of the room cracked open a little.

Through the gap broke a veil of pale white light.

When the door lock opened, Wu Hen pulled out the key and waited a few seconds, after which the light screen of the other world disappeared.

The living room on the first floor came into view.

It was darkish in the living room, no zombies could be seen.

*Bang!*

*Bang!*

When they entered the living room, the sound of heavy hammering came from the bedroom door.

After several clicks the fragile room door shattered.

Two zombies in pajamas stumbled out of it.

- Attack! - Wu Hen ordered decisively again.

The rushing zombies were no longer a threat.

Instead, they turned into "experience packs."

With their help, one could increase experience and the number of skeleton warriors.

*Crash!*

The skeleton warriors rushed in and surrounded the zombies in the center, the kitchen knives in their hands rising and falling.

The scene was a bit brutal, and a bit relieved.

The zombies didn't even have time to do anything before being dismembered in the living room.

Wu Hen approached them and released the "Skeleton Service" technique, and two skeleton warriors roared.

Making sure there was no danger here, Wu Hen first headed to the kitchen.

In the kitchen he found two more kitchen knives.

Handed them to the skeleton warriors who had just appeared.

Then he began rummaging through the drawers, looking for items that might be useful to him.

Nothing could be done, money was also needed for living in Blackstone.

If it weren't for how the world had turned out, he could have amassed a fortune much more easily.

There was rice and flour in stock, pickles were better preserved in the fridge.

But food was not very important in the city of Black Rock.

Closing the refrigerator, he continued rummaging in the closet in the bedroom.

Pulled out several stylish clothing items.

Then cash, bank cards, property documents, and several paper deposit slips.

Several women's gold jewelry was found in the wardrobe.

Cash and bank cards are now useless, but gold jewelry is still valuable.

As he was leaving, his gaze fell on the decorations at the entrance.

There was a jade cabbage on the shoe rack at the entrance.

At the bottom was a wooden base, at the top a translucent cabbage shape, about thirty centimeters long, not small.

Wu Hen appraised it and took it out the door.

Then he took the skeleton warrior and went into the next room.

He lived in an old neighborhood, only six floors, three apartments per floor.

Then Wu Hen led the skeletons to open one door after another, killing the zombies inside and collecting useful items.

...

Five o'clock in the afternoon.

Wu Hen, leading a skeleton, had searched the rooms of the entire building.

The not very spacious living room was already filled with skeleton warriors holding kitchen knives and fruit knives in their hands.

Neatly spaced, they created an eerie atmosphere in the living room.

After counting, there were a total of 17 skeleton warriors in the living room.

There were fewer skeleton warriors than expected, but it was not bad, at least today's operation was successful.

Among the skeletons, the skeleton with the sword had the most experience. Relying on the advantage of the weapon, he had accumulated 55 points, lacking only half a point to level up.

If tomorrow went as smoothly as today, reaching the second level would not be a problem.

During today's battle, he also figured out the rules for skeletons gaining experience.

In addition to Wu Hen being able to share experience with all skeletons, the remaining experience was distributed depending on the last blow.

That is, whoever dealt the last blow was considered the killer.

It was not shared evenly among all skeletons.

His own experience had also reached halfway, and with a bit of luck it could be increased.

Everything was going in a good direction.

After tidying up the loot and ordering all the skeletons to stay in place, he put on his backpack and returned to Blackstone City through the border gates.

...

Panda's Trading Post.

A well-known chain of stores in the city of Blackstone.

The pattern resembles deer antlers.

- I heard that these stores were widespread in all cities, had some influence and reputation, which was always good.

- Beautiful, beautiful, - the fat boss behind the counter picked up the jade cabbage and examined it carefully.

Subconsciously praising it twice, he carefully placed it on the counter and continued to ask: - What is this material, it's not jade, there are no carving traces, it doesn't look like a natural material.

Wu Hen was surprised by the poison in the other's eyes.

Although this product was called "Jade Cabbage", in fact it was not jade, but a disposable pendulum made of resin.

It had nothing to do with jade at all.

- Lipid jade, basically invisible on your side, is distinguished by its lightness and durability, as well as its rich color, - Wu Hen casually said about this.

There was no medieval period in this world as on Earth, and the level of development was not backward.

There was glass here, all kinds of beautiful crafts, no shortage of food, salt.

But resin, plastic, this kind of synthetic material did not appear on this side.

On the contrary, they became a rarity.

The shop owner looked at it carefully again, and then directly said: - The Panda Trading Chamber never presses on the price, your item is good, but this is clearly a disposable molded item, it is better than a beautiful shape and special material, if you want to sell it, this side can give you a price of 30 silver coins.

There were four types of universal currency: copper cents, copper coins, silver coins and gold coins.

Although gold coins were the main currency, they were rarely found among commoners.

Silver coins could pay for most buying and selling transactions.

Therefore, the purchasing power of silver coins was high.

In Wu Hen's understanding, silver coins here were equivalent to a hundred dollar bill.

- Too little... - Wu Hen pretended to be dissatisfied and shook his head.

- Then what is your price?

- 100.

This price was fraudulent, and in any case, if you did not agree to it, you could simply lower it again.

If you say less, then the other side will immediately agree, and in turn, it will be hard on the heart.

Of course, the price could not be too exorbitant.

- I'm afraid that price will be hard to accept, let's do this: 40 silver coins is the limit I can give, - the boss named the price.

Wu Hen thought about it: the jade cabbage was useless to him, and there was no other place where he could sell it that would be of little use to him.

So he nodded and said, - I agree.
