Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Allen walked along the dim hallways with a hint of frustration, he knows it's for the best if everyone get along, but there's something that always stops him, and even the other children. His memories from a past life, while the brain is that of a five year old, he still has some mannerism that carried over, which are not normal for a kid.

"Kids are smarter than you can give them credit for" He contemplated while looking outside one of the windows, directly to the garden where the older kids where playing.

Before walking through the doors he took a depth breath to calm himself, opened the doors to the garden and ran directly to the other kids. "Hey guys! Whatcha playing? Can I join?" He expressed with a beaming face, a smile so big he had close his eyes, the best imitation he could do of a child.

"Uh? Hey, the moggy wants to play!" One of the kids exclaimed with excitement while the others laughed in a mocking manner. "Alright little guy, how about you hide and we search for you".

Unfortunately for him, he was not a good actor, not before, and not now.

"B- But, Ms Sarah said that we need to get along so the house can work" He pleaded. "And I can never find any of you, can't we play something else?" Still trying to follow through with what was asked of him.

Annoyance started to form in his mind, tired of the facade he put up and tired that it didn't work with the kids, but what could he do, in this way, at least they only bother him for a bit, when he tries to socialize when them, otherwise he's ignored to do as he pleases.

"Alright little moggy!" Shouted another kid. Allen didn't really bother to remember their names, it was enough to still remember the names of the bullies from his previous life, why remember more names that only brought bad memories.

"We were playing football, so why don't cha be our goalie? Perfect place for you actually" The look on the other kids faces was one of mockery while he said so.

Allen tried to change the game again, but it was already decided, between being ignored or getting hit, he would've preferred being ignored, alas, a mistake is a mistake, can't take it back.

"P- Please just don't kick the ball too hard" Fear raced in his mind, feeling his breathing haggard. The body of a five year old is fragile, and so is the mind, even if he knows that a ball being kicked by a twelve year old doesn't hurt that much, he still can't help it but feel it.

As he walks to the goal defeated by the situation, he wonders when will he grow up to a point where his mind and body are more in sync.

Not enough time pass before the kids start kicking balls at him, he knows it's impossible to stop them, so the best solution is to evade them.

"C'mon moggy, aren't cha supposed to be brave as a lion? Stop evading and catch at least one!"

"Yeah moggy!"

"Stop evading!"

"At least stop the slow ones mog!"

Different types of cheers could be heard from the other kids, of course, not the pleasant ones.

"If you don't stop at least one, we'll tell Ms Sarah that you didn't wanna play with us" The moment he said that, all the other kids stopped kicking the balls.

"You know…" Allen sighed. "Of course they know, she is trying hard to keep the orphanage as if we were friends or family, how can they not know" Resentment surged from within him as he thought of it.

"Of course we know! She tells the same thing to all of us, to get along, to care for one another as if we were family, a load of bollocks" His voice resonated with irritation.

Allen exhaled a long breath looking at the other kids, it's true, they are not a family, they can't care for each other like one, but even then, they should at least try to not antagonize each other like this. "Fucking kids, that's why I hate them" He contemplated, clenching his fist as hard as he can.

He looked up to match the kid's gaze. "Alright, only one ball, then it's over, I leave and you tell Ms Sarah we get along just fine" The innocent gaze left his face, and only a harsh gaze remained, of course such a look would only be funny to other kids as he tries to be intimidating.

"That's the spirit moggy, just don't go crying to Ms Sarah that we hit you too hard" This kid felt excited to hit Allen without any repercussions, because, even if they didn't like him, he is still just a child.

Both of them were preparing, Allen to catch the ball, the kid to kick it as hard as he can.

One minute.

Two minutes.

Five minutes went by and none of them do anything but look at each other, then, the kid took action, ran as fast as he could, through the dry grass and kicked the ball as hard as possible.

Allen tried to follow the ball with his brown eyes, a frown on his face appeared. "Son of a… he kicked it too hard, fuck" he muttered to himself.

Taking the chance, he jumped just in time to stop the ball, as it was about to hit him in the head, the memories from his death resurfaced, it's not like he forgot about it, he just tried to not remember again.

Then, all of his emotions came rushing, sadness for his family and pets, anger against the people who killed his family and him, frustration at the thought of not being able to do anything against anyone, not the killers, not his uncle, and not even to a couple of children. All of his emotions came like a tide, and he could feel it, not only how he could finally let them out, but also something else, traveling trough him, legs, chest, heart, arms, head, until it reached his hands.

For a brief moment he saw a celeste light coming out of his hands and fingers, reaching the ball, not only stopping it, but also returning it with the same force that the kid used to kick it, hitting him in the head, knocking the kid unconscious.

As he fell to the ground, Allen tried to stop the kid's fall running towards him and reaching with his hand, and just for a split second, he saw that light again, flicker, then disappear, as if it never existed, but he could tell the effects, since he was able to catch the kid before he hit the dry and dull grass.
