The situation was too surreal, his head was spinning around, trying to come up with an excuse, hoping that the other kids didn't see that light coming out of his hands. What was that light anyway? He questioned himself, but that doesn't matter, he needed to do damage control on the situation.
Leaving the kid lying down, Allen proceeded to stand up straight, looking at everyone around him. A gut wrenching feeling on his stomach, he wanted to throw up, leave, run away, but it was impossible.
"If… any of you say anything to Ms Sarah, I'll throw the ball to you as hard as I did to him" As he said that, all the kids around him raised their arms to their chest and moved them from left to right in a negative manner.
He could tell, all the kids were scared of him now, it didn't matter if they saw that ray of light or not. "So much for trying to pass as a normal kid" He massaged his brows and realized that there was no going back from this, so, Allen decided to use the situation for his advantage at the very least.
"When Ms Sarah asks if we played nicely, you will say yes, whether it's today, tomorrow, or in ten years, do you understand?" He expressed, moving around posing his eyes in every one of them, pointing at them with his index finger.
All of the kids just moved their heads up and down, telling him that they understand.
As he was trying to leave as slow as possible to not give away that he too was scared of what just happened, he remembered something, turned around and saw the kids jump in fright when he looked at them again.
"…"
An uncomfortable silence pass for a minute before he opened his mouth.
"All of you are forbidden from calling me moggy from now on, understood?" he expressed himself.
The kids just nodded again, but some of them started talking.
"Y- Yes Mog- I mean Li-" He got interrupted by Allen "Don't call me by my last name either, if you need to talk to me, use my name"
"Yes Allen" Some of the kids shouted, others just nodded fervently, he could feel that things were going to change in the orphanage, and not in a good way, for all of them.
Departing from the garden, the weight of each steps bearing down on him. Unaware of the moment he arrived at his room, the door closed behind him and he flopped on the ground, looking at the ceiling with his limbs stretched.
Unconcerned about the time that passed, he continued to lay down on the floor, his mind racing with thoughts, one more impossible than the other.
Superpowers?
Psychic powers?
Poltergeist?
Allen's mind continued to run with possible explanations until it was time for dinner and Ms Sarah came to pick him up.
"Did you have fun with the other kids Allen?" She asked, knocking on the door.
He just hummed in a positive manner, still thinking about that ray of light.
Ms Sarah, not satisfied with the answer entered the room and saw Allen on the floor. "Are you sure that you had fun young man? From the looks of it, it's the complete opposite".
He didn't expect Ms Sarah to enter without permission, but then again, he is still a kid, privacy is not something they have.
Allen jumped out of the floor and stood up. "It just… I think we played too hard, and the ball is not the softest one we have either" He answered scratching his nape.
Ms Sarah looked at him with a sharp gaze from top to bottom, trying to catch anything out of place but nothing was out of the ordinary. She resigned herself seeing how everything was in order and just asked Allen to come down for dinner.
He tried his best to not let the crack in his voice be heard when he answered her. "Yes Ms Sarah, I'm coming".
