Chapter 13 - Haircut

I look at something above Damon's shoulder, feeling uncomfortable after having spent the night with him. Even though, nothing happened, he still saw me with only my undies on. He was the one who put me to bed, undressed me, removed even my bra. And I embarrassingly snuggled with him the whole night. He must have felt my bare legs and almost bare ass cheek. Goddess! How embarrassing!

Damon cleared his throat, obviously waking me up from my thoughts of last night. I looked up at his face, he was so tall, my head only reached his chest. He was already 6" and he was only eighteen years old.

He was smiling at me teasingly.

"Want a repeat?" he said teasingly, still smiling.

"How did you...?" I stopped before I complete my question, but the cat is already out. I have already confirmed I was thinking of last night. Again, my cheeks started getting hot. Tomatoes is it!

Damon laughed, a very gleeful and happy laugh. So different from his laugh when we were in school which were usually insulting and sounding like a devil's laugh. This time, I liked his laugh. It sounded like he enjoyed himself, as if he was happy. Perhaps happy that he was talking with me?

I knew I was looking at him stupidly, but it was the first time I heard him laugh like this. It was a laugh of pure enjoyment. Then he stopped, but still smiled at me as I tried to glare at him. Tried being the operative word since I couldn't seem to really get angry or irritated at him. Where was the animosity and fear I usually felt for him?

Just then, Kaylee came to the living room. "Breakfast everyone. Take yours before everything's wolfed down." She called jokingly.

As everyone walked to the dining area, Kaylee came beside me, hooking her left arm on my right.

"Slept well?" She asked, eyes twinkling happily.

I gasped, looking at Damon accusingly.

"Woah! She and Alpha Cain gave their blessing. As long as I did not take advantage of you." Damon said explained.

"He didn't offend you in any way. Did he?" Kaylee asked.

"N...no."

"Good. Did it feel good? Sleeping with your mate?" I blushed. How could Kaylee ask me directly with Damon just beside us?

She laughed as I looked at her with amazement in my eyes. She should be talking to me about this when we were alone. Not when Damon is beside us, clearly hearing everything.

Still laughing, she embraced me. "You'll soon learn that you don't have to hide anything from your mate. Whatever you're feeling right now, he feels it too." She said then went to get a plate for herself, walking around other pack members, mostly she-wolves, also taking their plates for breakfast. Usually, she would get one for me as well, knowing that some pack members still try to outcast me by intentionally not having a plate available for me.

Then I saw Damon get two plates. Heaping pancakes, eggs and bacon on one before handing it to me. In shock, I accepted the plate. Nodding as he once again turned back to me, holding a bottle of syrup. "Syrup?"

I now feel, more than see the glares of jealousy from other she-wolves and I bow my head, looking interestingly at the food heaped on my plate.

Damon then proceeded to fill his plate with food and carries it with his left hand, then embraces me by my waist with his right hand as he guides me to the part of the table where his future officers are seated.

Breakfast was almost like a repeat of dinner as when Damon noticed that I cut my bacon smaller than the usual bite before eating, he cut the bacon on his plate then heaped them on my plate, taking the uncut bacon on my plate to his plate.

I tried to stop him when I saw him put the cut bacon on my plate, but he immediately whispered in my ear, looking like he was kissing me. "Just eat sweetheart."

Feeling uncomfortable with all the mixed attention I was getting from everyone in the dining area, including Kaylee who would smirk fondly at me every time I catch her eye, I concentrated on chewing my food.

"Oh, before I forget, mother asked if she could come by your workplace so you could have coffee later?"

I almost choked. "Why?"

"She didn't tell me."

"Queen Luna wants to get to know her future daughter-in-law." This from Astor, the future Gamma.

"It's okay if you don't want to. She won't take it against you." Damon said. Holding my hand and looking me directly in the eye.

"No. I.. It's okay. I would love to meet with the Queen Luna later." I said, remembering the warmth of her embrace when we first met last night. Who am I to reject a Queen Luna's wishes?

I walk a little behind the Queen Luna as we enter this gigantic mall that I have never dared to enter before. Feeling unworthy of walking beside her as we get inside the entrance. I feel multiple pairs of eyes, and I even hear whispers and I don't blame them. She was oozing of sophistication in her silk midi dress in a pastel shade of purple and I was in my usual jeans and shirt attire. I knew they would all be wondering why a goddess-looking beautiful woman would want to walk with a raggedy mouse.

Queen Luna must have noticed my insecurity as she paused and looked back at me, hooking her arm on my left arm then continued walking as if it was the most natural thing on earth.

"Head held high sweetheart. Be proud. No one can ever put you down but yourself." she says. Talking slowly and softly. Ensuring that I hear what she is saying and making sure no one from the onlookers would understand it as well.

She stopped walking. Then faced me. Making the three warriors walking behind us and three in front also stop walking. "Do you trust me sweetheart?"

I couldn't do anything but nod. What can I say? I'm sorry but...not really? Haha! That alone would have thrown me to the dungeon, mate or no mate.

She then walks to an elegant hairdressing salon with a tastefully decorated interior in warm colored decorations. She was obviously well-known in the salon as the manager himself came forward immediately. Greeting the Queen Luna with a bow.

"Welcome Queen-Madam Hunter. It's a pleasure to have you with us today." He's a gay wolf and obviously belonging to the Dark Midnight pack. Because of the way he changed how he addressed the Queen Luna; I looked around and noticed that some of his staff are human. I also realized that most of the clients are human as well.

"I have your private cubicle all ready and waiting for you Madam Hunter." He said as he led as to the room.

Cubicle wouldn't describe it for me. It was too spacious to be called a cubicle. Mirrors lined up one wall with salon chairs in front. That should be enough for a private cubicle in a hairdressing salon, right? But it was not. On one side of the room was a high-class table and four chairs. The table and chairs were obviously looking better than what we had at my old home.

The Queen Luna guided me in front of the mirrors. "I want to change what my son has done to your hair. I don't want you hiding your beauty anymore." She said as she pulled me and let me sit on the salon chair. In my mind, I wanted to say no, but it seems the Queen Luna has a way with her that rejects rejection.

Immediately, Jessie as I soon learn the manager's name comes forward and takes my backpack. Setting it on a locker on the side below the mirrors. Then, holds up a salon robe, motioning for me to stand up as he drapes the salon robe over my clothes. I look at myself at the mirror. Obviously, this salon robe was way more expensive than my jeans and shirt combined.

Marveling at how expensive a haircut could be in this expensive salon, I completely forgot how the scars on my neck would be exposed if I got my bonnet off my head but before I could say anything, Jessie had my bonnet in his hand and I heard gasps from him as well as the Queen Luna.

I look at their faces through the mirror. Both of them were looking at the scars behind my neck. I know it looked ugly. Three X's deeply engraved on my otherwise soft skin. Jessie looked at me and smiled with tenderness and sympathy but did not say anything. He cleared his throat then went on to get his cutting shears.

I looked at the Queen Luna, who was standing on the right. She wasn't saying anything, as if spaced out but I noticed her hands were clenched, as if she was angry at something. She must be mind-linking somebody.
