Chapter 25 - Management and Improvement

Three days passed in a breeze.

In the meantime, the White Light Territory managed to gather over a hundred people.

Because of that, Bai Shen was forced to construct a few buildings using "Create" and choosing from the available blueprints.

The cost for them wasn't enormous, as around half of the people were inside the mansion, and the other 60 or so were staying in the new houses.

Since one building where 5 people could live was around 100 coins, for 60 people it reached around 1200 coins; that wasn't even half of what the White Light Territory produced in a day.

Because so many people suddenly came over, Bai Shen was forced to create ranks inside the Territory for the people to know whose orders they should listen to.

There were a few cases when people tried to take over the mansion, but Bai Shen quickly disposed of them by showing his unimaginable strength.

He let a few off the hook but also made a perfect example by hanging 5 bodies around the mansion's gate, so people would remember that he wasn't a fan of betrayals.

As for the new ranks, Bai Shen kept it simple.

The people were split into 3 different ranks, namely: Commoner, Member, and Captain rank.

For those people, Bai Shen assigned a few of them to the new teams he created.

They were tasked with assisting the members, something resembling a logistics team.

The Members were those who had to pick up their weapons and complete quests for the Territory, in exchange for food and protection.

The Captain ranks were for those who led a group over to Bai Shen's Territory and joined him for the sake of keeping order.

Bai Shen appointed those people as Captains and gave them the mission to continue completing quests and leveling up, for now.

Bai Shen wasn't really a saint, since he surely profited from them. He also had enough coins to finally purchase the Free Market Building.

Free Market: Everything one could wish for, depending on their pocket.

Here, people could use their own coins received from the quests and use them to buy everything they needed.

For example, a 700g bread cost 1 coin, a bucket of chicken wings was 3 coins, 4 coins with a sauce; a devious market strategy.

But it wasn't only food or water; every single beverage available on Earth, or things like furniture, electronics; everything was available on the free market, for the right price.

But since people could use the Free Market freely, without contributing to the Territory's creation, Bai Shen decided to apply a tax.

10% of the total value of their coins.

And since he knew which people completed a mission, it wasn't hard for him to know if someone tried to cheat their way out.

They either had to use trade to directly transfer the money into the Treasury every day, or they could pay everything at the end of the month.

There were some wise old people though who tried to do something else; they asked for a coin's loan.

Hearing them out, Bai Shen agreed to their idea. He lent them enough money to build everything they needed around their rooms, for a higher tax.

They had to pay him 25% of their coins every day until the debt was cleared out.

And since he had enough coins for that, Bai Shen didn't even hesitate to do so. Especially because of the suggested 5% interest rate... Cough.

It wasn't his idea, but the old people asked for it themselves! Probably out of fear that he would suggest a higher interest rate...

Anyway, everything worked out pretty fine, and Bai Shen's Territory started to function like a small company; one where he and his friends were the CEOs.

Seeing the Territory's Treasury had over 10,000 coins, Bai Shen was tempted to use it for himself and obtain a Unique Bloodline or Class.

But he knew better than to rush things and leave himself in a weakened situation.

What if other people also got their hands on a Territory Token and created a base for themselves?

If one of them decided to declare war toward his Territory at that moment, instead of having enough money to arm his people to the teeth, Bai Shen would probably cry in a corner.

It was very important for him to leave some coins inside the Treasury, lest he receives a new batch of people inside.

The best thing, though, his Territory advanced by leaps and bounds, now covering a range of 35,000 m².

It was pretty impressive for someone to get his Territory to such a state in only a few days; not like Bai Shen was aware of how things worked in other worlds...

Since three days passed, his 20% bonus exp already expired, but he still had that 10% from his Title.

So he was still ahead of many people.

Just like usual, Bai Shen assigned ten free attribute points to Luck, bringing it to 4.

The bonus attributes from the equipment were already included in the attributes panel, but even then, Bai Shen was happy to see how much improvement these few days brought him.

'If I keep going on like this, there will surely be a day when I could even help with killing entire hordes of Zombies without a problem.'

Thinking so, Bai Shen prepared himself to go for another hunt.
