This time, he would try to check out the nearby college campuses to see if there were still students alive.
He wanted to monopolize the surrounding areas until he finally gained full control over Shanghai before trying to expand in other directions.
It sounded tedious and unrealistic, but since the Apocalypse began, Bai Shen knew that he was probably one of the most powerful humans out there.
While he wasn't yet impervious to bullets, there shouldn't be too much danger if he was hit by some.
With a clear mind, Bai Shen stepped out of his Territory, toward a new future.
After a few minutes, Bai Shen reached the nearest campus to his mansion. Usually, it would have taken him around 30 minutes of walking.
But now, he covered the same distance in less than five minutes, a testament to his inhuman agility that grew by leaps and bounds.
If a normal human before the Apocalypse began, were to stand in front of Bai Shen, the latter could move with such speed that the normal human would only see a blur.
And this wasn't only applicable to humans, but also to zombies and other monsters; since even a few mutant Beasts that were slower suffered from Bai Shen's incomprehensible speed.
He also tried to think of a way to analyze an opponent in three different categories: Strength, Speed, and Physique type.
He hadn't yet encountered any mutants that would increase his Charm, Luck, or Mana. And there could be a few reasons for that.
First, his Steal had the potential to evolve and only then unlock the power to steal those attributes too.
Second, the mutant beasts or zombies barely had any of those attributes, so it would be impossible for Bai Shen to steal them.
And third, there must be only a few special types of mutants or zombies that could drop those attributes, or they would need to be of a higher level.
"There's no use in thinking about that. For now, I'll only continue to increase my Luck until it hits 10, after that, I'm going to focus on Charm and Mana too."
Bai Shen wanted to increase his Charm and Mana because he thought that they might come in handy later on.
From what he observed, Charm increased the physical appearance a bit, but not only that, it also gave some kind of aura to the user.
Making it very attractive to other people, but also increasing their approachability; making others very comfortable around them.
"I saw how those hungry wolves looked at my Ruoxi, I remember each and every one of their faces. They better don't give me a reason to act..."
It wasn't that Bai Shen was jealous or overprotective; he just felt like scolding those guys a bit.
In the worst case, he would only gouge an eye or two... But not anything worse than that!
Back to his current mission, Bai Shen managed to successfully infiltrate the nearby campus.
He sneaked in basically, because there were simply too many zombies walking around.
By his estimations, there should be over a thousand zombies.
And while he wasn't afraid of being ganged up by dozens of them, hundreds would definitely drain his physique.
Not to mention over a thousand of those things coming at him all at once.
"For now, I should go in and see if there are students and teachers still alive."
"The classroom buildings and gymnasium are the most probable places for them to gather together."
Thinking so, Bai Shen quickly spotted the building where classrooms were situated.
There were around 200 meters from his current location to them.
Luckily for him, there were a lot of trees in a nearby park that could hide his silhouette as he passed the zombies with his monstrous speed.
Quickly entering the building, Bai Shen saw a lot of blood on the floor and walls; it was a sign that a massacre had happened there.
And in fact, every hallway had those bloodstains on them, there wasn't a single one that was clear.
This gave Bai Shen a bad feeling; there were probably a few thousand students walking around this campus every month.
It would be a disaster if no one survived the zombie onslaught.
"Perhaps there are multiple groups of survivors hiding around? Wait! The dorms too! I should definitely check on those."
Since there were usually 3 or 4 students in a dorm room, Bai Shen didn't exclude the possibility that they managed to get lucky and not have any of their friends turn into zombies and kill them.
Maybe some of them also managed to kill the humans-turned-zombies and then help others too.
There were many possibilities as to what could happen in such situations, everything depended on the people who were there at the time; how they acted and what response they had to such a sudden threat.
In a matter of minutes, Bai Shen not only got to the 8th Floor of the 10-Floor Building, but he also sneakily killed a few zombies without alerting their friends.
Unfortunately, there was still no sign of human life around. But this didn't stop Bai Shen from continuing his exploration.
Upon arriving at the 10th Floor, his first reaction was to sigh in relief. Due to his improved body, his ears functioned a lot better than before.
A few times better to be more precise.
He picked up some whispers coming from the classes that were situated on the last floor.
It was a sign that some humans were still alive and safe from the dangerous claws of the zombies.
"I'm glad that I finally found some survivors. I thought this would be a fruitless trip."
Slowly making his way to the first classroom, Bai Shen gently knocked on the door.
Suddenly, the whispers from before ceased.
It seemed that whoever was inside right now was too scared to continue speaking with the others.
"Are there any students there?" Bai Shen tried to keep his voice as low as he could.
He didn't want to attract zombies there and invite trouble upon the poor students.
"Who are you?" A low voice was heard from behind the doors, it seemed that the door was blocked with the help of chairs and tables.
"I'm a survivor, just like you. It's just that instead of locking myself in a room, I decided to fight back and level up enough to confront those zombies."
Hearing what Bai Shen said, there seemed to be a little hesitation from the other side, before a girl's voice sounded out.
"Let him in. He may be able to get us out of here." Seemingly commanding the other students or teachers inside, after the girl said that, no one said anything else and decided to open the door.
The sound of furniture being moved away could be heard.
Until finally, the door opened bit by bit...
