Dropping her phone on her study desk, she delved into the document. The hours passed in a blur as she studied and came up with possible Ideas and feedback based on the content of the file.
The room, once awash with the golden glow of street lamps is now bathed in the muted light of her desk lamp.
Around 10 p.m., she reluctantly closed the file aware of the need to recharge for the day ahead as she switched off the lamp, leaving her room bathed in darkness.
Selena made her way to the cozy cocoon of her bed, her thoughts were filled with anticipation of what the days ahead held and the challenges it posed. As she closed her eyes, sleep welcomed her with open arms.
Meanwhile the night unfolded differently in another corner of the city as Kelvin could be seen inside an empty warehouse which is dimly lit and spacious. His entire being was clothed in the darkness and only his piercing golden eyes blazed brightly.
His teeth were elongated making sharp fangs and his nails were long in claw- like curve that it could cut through air. He stood in front of a man who was tied firmly to a chair, his hands chained together and he grabbed his neck.
The man's upper body was covered in deep wounds and blood and even his face did not escape Kelvin's brutality.
With a devilish smirk on his face, "Who sent you?" Kelvin asked. "Answer me, who sent you?" he yelled when he didn't get an answer.
"Calm down Kelvin, how do you expect him to give you an answer when your grip is tight around his neck?" Jorge said. He was seating down comfortably and calmly on a bench while watching Kelvin in action.
"God please save me" Hulvey prayed silently as he was being choked by this man in front of him.
"No, he's not a man. He's a monster." Hulvey screamed in his head. "What's your name?" He heard Kelvin's voice.
"If I had known this was a suicide mission, I wouldn't have accepted this job." Hulvey said in silence, wishing he could just find even a little escape route.
"Don't choke him if you want to hear his name." Jorge said a bit irritated and Kelvin let go of Hulvey's neck.
Staring directly into his eyes, "What is your name?" Kelvin asked again, his voice a mixture of anger, power and intimidation.
"Hulvey..., my name is Hulvey." He answered in fear and he heard the next question. "Who sent you?"
"Mr Luis." He answered forgetting to breathe.
"Choose your death? A bitter or a sweet one?" Kelvin asked but before Hulvey could say anything, he snapped his neck in a one strike.
"I thought you gave him a choice? Why in a haste?" Jorge said from the corner he was watching from.
"He wasted my time". Kelvin said in a husky voice as his nails and teeth started returning to normal.
"Tsk tsk, what an impatient guy!" Jorge hissed. "You better go clean those blood off your body. I'll call someone to clean up this mess you did." He said looking at the lifeless body. Shaking his head, he went out of the building.
"You can come over now." Jorge said immediately the call connected through. "Okay boss." He heard from the other line and ended the call. He walked to where he parked his car, entered and sat comfortably while patiently waiting for Kelvin.
"What's that man still doing inside? I really need to rest, I'm pretty tired." He complained when he didn't see Kelvin coming out. After waiting for a few more minutes, he saw Kelvin coming out of the building.
Kelvin's lips were stained with blood and immediately Jorge could already guess why he delayed.
"You drank his blood right?" Jorge said as Kelvin reached his car.
"I haven't tasted blood in a few years and I've used much of my strength during these years. I need to replenish my strength." Kelvin said and entered his own car that was parked closely to Jorge's car.
"That's because you are always hot headed. If you don't fight you won't lose that much strength." Jorge said while shaking his head. "Anyways, some people are coming to clear the place up and all I need right now is a peaceful night rest." Starting his car engine, "Don't go killing someone else." Jorge gave Kelvin a warning look before driving off.
Licking his lips, Kelvin too started his car and drove away. During his drive, his mind shifted to Selena and he wondered why he always think about her? Shutting down his thoughts he arrived at his house.
He parked his car in his lavish garage and he stepped out of his car. Entering his living room, he called out for his butler.
"Welcome sir." Robert said.
"Clean and arrange the house. We're having a guest tomorrow, she'll be living here for a year." Kelvin said with no emotion in his voice.
"Okay sir." Kelvin heard before retreating to his room.
Walking through the corridors towards his room, he decided to take the stairs and not the elevator. His head was clouded in thoughts of Selena as the picture of her eyes came to his head.
Seeing her eyes full of fear, he felt his heart ache but why. Why was he even concerned whether she was afraid of him or not. Shouldn't she just be like everyone else but why did hers affect him differently.
He remembered the smile on her face In the conference room during the meeting and he noticed himself smiling.
'No Kelvin, get your head straight." He scolded himself.
Arriving at his bedroom, he went straight to his bathroom to take his shower as to wash away the stains of blood off his body. When he was done, he stood at the long length mirror and combed his hair neatly.
Changing into his night robe, he retired to bed. For hours, he lay on his lavish bed, his mind relentlessly churning through different matters, both challenging and trivial. With the night getting more deeper, Kelvin fell asleep.
