Kelvin arrived at the office by 7:30am.Settling down on his chair he called for Jorge. "Who's our newest intern?" He asked When Jorge came to his office.
"Newest intern?" Taking his seat opposite kelvin, "I guess that will be Selena..., Is there a problem?" Jorge asked
"Give me all the information regarding her."
"What's going on?" Jorge asked with creased brows.
"Nothing...," Clasping his hands, Kelvin rested his chin on them. "Who was assigned as her mentor."
'What's wrong with this guy?' Jorge thought in his head. "You're not answering any of my questions..." He said
"Is there any law that mandates me to be answerable to you?" Kelvin gave him a cold reply
'Jeez! what an annoying piece of shit!'
"Tsk tsk.." Jorge stood up. "She hasn't been assigned to a mentor yet." Shrugging his shoulders, "I'll send all her details to you." He said and started walking to the door.
"Send Selena to me..., I want her under me." Jorge heard Kelvin. "hmm.." He replied while leaving the office.
Back in the interns floor. Selena had returned her attention back to her computer when she heard Lauren voice.
"Good morning Selena." Lauren greeted.
Turning her head towards Lauren, Selena gave a soft smile and replied. "Good morning Lauren."
"The CEO needs you in his office right now" Lauren said
"The CEO?" Selena asked curiously.
"Yes. Let's go." Lauren gave a short reply.
Lauren, walking away was followed by Selena to the CEO's office. Selena's mind wandered in curiosity on why the CEO sent for her. 'Is he going to be my mentor?" She asked herself
Lauren looked at Selena expression, as if sensing her thoughts, she spoke in a calm voice. "I don't know why the CEO asked for you but I guess you might be lucky to learn directly under him."
"Hmm...," she replied
Lauren saw Selena's facial expression when she heard what she said. She chuckled lightly, "Don't worry, you'll find out why he sent for when we get to his office." Standing at the door of Kelvin's office, Lauren ushered Selena in.
Breathing in and out to calm her nervousness, Selena entered the CEO's office. Walking towards the desk, Selena had an uneasy feeling creeping in her stomach. 'What's this feeling?' She mused.
"Good morning sir. I was told you sent for me...," Selena choked on her words and her jaw dropped when she saw the figure she was talking to.
Kelvin was going through a file in his hand when he heard a familiar voice. Raising his head up, he looked at the owner of the voice and his eyes widened in surprise. Gaining his composure back, he coughed to clear his throat. "You?" That was the only word that came out of his mouth.
"You?" Selena repeated his words while pointing at him. "You're the CEO?"
"Yes." He gave a short reply.
"Shit!" Selena cursed under her breath. She closed her eyes, "I'm doomed right?"
Kelvin saw what she did, hearing her words he smiled unconsciously. 'Let's see if you can still run your mouth here.' With that thought a smirk formed on his lips.
"Who accepted your internship?" He said in a voice filled with authority.
Selena opened her eyes and looked at him when she heard his words. "Hmm...mm., It was Mr Graham. He interviewed me sir." She stammered.
'Oh God! Why does it have to be him? What have I gotten myself into.' She muttered to herself
Kelvin studied her face, somehow he wanted to show her that he is someone that is always in control and feared too.If it was before he would have terminated her internship right there and sent her back to wherever hell she came from but he already made that damn deal with her father.
'I made a deal with her father.' He said in his head. Right now that was the only logical reason that crossed his mind as why he has to keep a rich brat under him.
"Whoever said you were accepted I don't care, now I'm telling you that you can't do your internship in my company." Kelvin said with a mischievous smirk.
'Let's see what happens now' He muttered
Selena felt something struck her when she heard Kelvin's words. No, she can't get turned down at least not now when she just started. What was she going to do? How would her parents feel if she goes home and tells them her internship was terminated? She wanted to work in the MWC but what could she do.
Why does it have to be him? No, I'll have to do something. Summing up courage, "Please can you tell me the reason why?" She said in a slightly timid voice and Kelvin scoffed.
'Why isn't she begging me? Why isn't she apologizing and asking for forgiveness?' With a wry smile. 'Your daughter is really full of surprises Mr Riley..,"
"What's your name?" He asked her. "Selena..., Selena Riley." She answered.
"Why do you want to do your internship in this company?"
'Are you Serious? Do you want to give me another round of interview and what kind of question is that. Who wouldn't want to work in this company, the best in New York city.' She wanted to pour out her thoughts to him.
'Just calm down Selena, don't get into another mess when you haven't even fixed the one you're in already.' She scolded herself. Opening her mouth to speak, he shut her up with another question.
"Do you want to do your internship here?"
"Huh!.. I really want..." He cut her off again with another question.
"What would you bring to this company if I let you stay?"
"I studied business management and I can..." She said but he cut her off again.
,'What's wrong with this guy? Is he trying frustrate me? Tsk tsk, I wish I can give him a smack on his head.' She said to herself while clenching her fist.
"Does it seem my plan to get on her nerve is working?" Kelvin muttered silently when he saw her clenched fist. He wanted to make her angry and frustrated and it seems it was working perfectly.
Clearing his throat and in an authoritative and cold voice. "If you are annoyed, you are free to resign" he said together with a stoic expression his voice sending shivers to Selena.
"But sir, i know we might have an issue the last time we met but you can't judge my career according to our argument and besides you were wrong. You also paid the driver for the damages and everything was settled. So please sir, can we just forget about what happened between us last night and focus on professionalism?" Selena said at a go.
This was the only thing she could come up with now in this situation. She couldn't let him cancel her internship just because of what happened last night and to top it all, she wasn't even at fault. He was the one that almost hit her taxi so why should she apologize. No, she was not going to act weak, not to this man or anybody.
"If you want to continue your internship here then you have only one choice." She heard Kelvin words.
"And what condition is that?" She asked and she felt her legs weakened. She's been standing since she came to this office. Noticing her legs trembling, Kelvin offered her a seat. "You can have a seat if you wish"
What is happening? why am I being nice to her all of a sudden? What is she doing to me or is she compelling me like mum's power? "No it can't be. According to her father she doesn't know she has such powers so she definitely can't use it." His mind filled with thought on why he was acting strange all of a sudden
Selena sat down opposite him, "Thank you." She replied, "So what's the condition?" She added.
"Live with me..." He gave a short reply.
