This is probably a story you already know but I'd like to do things a bit differently.
His name is Isaac Pierce.
Something's happening to him that he doesn't understand, and he's not the only one. He was brought into a world built to hate him, and he's not the only one. Now he's all alone, and he's not the only one.
But this story isn't about him. Let's circle back for a minute, there's more to be said.
There are those who came before us whose powers are bound to literal primordial demons and gods, due to that many lost their lives. Ten years ago a hero died saving the world that rejected his kind and the side affects of his sacrifice was the increase of superhumans being born. The population of the world is now split in half with 50% being superhumans and the other 50% being regular humans. Several laws were passed by those in positions of power to oppress those known to have powers and the outcome was a worse version of racism.
While now a days racism isn't that big of a deal in some places and being racist doesn't give you the right to do anything, my world's case was different.
If you were found to be a superhuman and you don't abide to the ridiculous and downright cruel laws you would be arrested, sentenced to death, treated like a monster and as long as the victim was a superhuman, people believed it to be morality okay.
In just ten years the world population of superhumans dropped from 50% to 30%.
I am also a superhuman, but no one knows and hopefully no one ever will. My parents and brother don't have powers but it's not uncommon for powers to skip a generation or only be compatible with one family member.
Some superhumans try to act like heroes, some actually do hero stuff because they want to 'do the right thing' but only receive harsher punishment. Others embrace the role society gives them and because the monsters superhumans are made out to be but in the end it's the same story.
There is not yet any technology for identifying if someone is a superhuman which makes it easier for some of us to blend in with the crowd. Unfortunately there are weapons especially made against superhumans and their variety of powers.
I feel especially bad for those with transformation type powers. Some have a human form and a form of whatever they change into while others are born already transformed and are a mix of human and a separate creature. They are killed at birth and the few who live long enough to reach a certain age aren't even given any changes at life what so ever.
As for myself, I'm what's called a humanoid superhuman. This means that I'm a human biologically speaking but have powers. In my case I have multiple powers and this means I have a greater chance of death if I'm found out.
My parents got married a little after it was announced that my mother was pregnant with my older brother. I guess they had to have loved each other at some point if they continued to have me. My mother is a judge and has been involved in the enforcing of the laws that could get me killed. My father is a former businessman and now a politician, I've never really cared to ask what his job entails but I knew it involved something bad.
Moving on to their children, my older brother, Damian, is as normal as you can get in the standard of this messed up world. He's a top student, popular, athletic, charming, likable, a law abiding citizen when it suited him and of course he agreed with the anti-superhuman stuff. He was also a homophobic jackass.
I was also kind of popular I guess, athletic, smart and I've been told by girls and even some guys that I'm attractive. But unlike my happy-go-lucky brother, I was more locked off. It wasn't that I was shy or anything like that, I just found people exhausting at times and I was generally pessimistic and dark. My standing with my parents didn't help, my mother almost always acted like I didn't even exist and my father hated everything about me and he let it show. Some people have said the way I am is just an act but it could be due to the trauma I've experienced. We'll get to that soon enough.
Let's get back to where we started.
His name is Isaac Pierce, and my name is Elliott Foster. He changed my life and there's no turning back. If it was good or bad, I don't know.
Welcome to our world.
The show's about to start, don't be late.
