"Are you sure about this? We could just go."
"No. I said I'd come and besides, I want to do this."
Jay sighed in defeat. He nodded and we got out of the car. As soon as we caught sight of the party venue, which was a beautiful modern mansion, we were greeted by the loud roar of house music coming from inside. Some people were on the yard, balcony and basically everywhere else either drinking, smocking, socializing or other vulgar things.
The inside was just as such but louder. The space was huge and although it packed, there were still those areas where one could breathe. The party raged on even on the floors above.
I couldn't tell how many floors there were but at the very centre of the house was a hollow space for the floors going upwards and a spherical chandelier hanged from the very top floor going down. It lit up with neon lights that were ever changing in contrast to the heavy yellow theme of the rest of the house. Left and right people were drinking god knows what that left them wasted, doing drugs of every kind I can't even imagine the dosage, while others were making out and going to the upper floors to hookup.
I really don't want to be here, but too late to back out now.
"Elliott! Jay!"
We were both tackled into a bear hug.
"Hey, Tessa. I'm guessing you came with the rest of the crew?" Jay asked as she let us go. "Yep. Come on, the others are waiting." She said pulling me by the arm, leading us to a semi-secluded area. Val, Violet, Chase, Isaac and Marshall were all together. Val and Marshall were drinking and I assume the rest were still sober.
"Wow, he actually showed. I didn't know you were the party type," Marshall said in a deep melodious voice, not at all sounding like someone who was drunk. I wanted to hate hearing that voice so badly but I couldn't.
"You don't know me as well as you think."
Tessa and Marshall Sinclair where twins well known by the whole school. Tessa, the party girl and messy queen. She was beautiful, athletic and very popular, she was also known for having the most drug problems all around. I couldn't tell you how many times she would overdose, spiral, pretend everything was normal and then repeat. I'm surprised she hasn't killed herself by now. It sounds like I'm trashing her but she's actually one of my close friends and I'm just worried about her.
Then there was Marshall. He is a self-proclaimed musician who occasionally gets gigs that pay. Like his sister, he also has somewhat of an addiction but only when it comes to alcohol. He's openly gay, which some didn't love to hear. This town is very closed minded and people here tend to reject and as my brother once said, try to 'purge the gay from our beautiful world'. As far as I know people started some nasty rumours about him, harassed him and gave him death threats, It's not like Marshall couldn't handle himself but it's just... I don't know. It's not like I had anything against Marshall being gay, maybe because I had the suspicion I wasn't straight myself but I'd never admit it out loud.
"You guys should drink before the main show starts. Trust me, you'll need the boost," Tessa said disappearing into the crowd. I took her advice and started drinking. I didn't know what it was but it was helping my nerves and the others soon followed.
Jay and Chase stayed in a corner talking, Val and Vi went who knows where and now I was left with Isaac and Marshall. Aren't I lucky.
"You should have something to drink, new kid. You seem tense." Marshall stated, while he drank as if it did nothing to him. Isaac just shrugged him off. I had only had two drinks myself but Marshall was probably on his sixth and counting. I grabbed his hand as he attempted to grab another one. "Marshall, that's enough. You can't keep doing this." I said firmly. Marshall pulled his hand away, "Careful, don't let big brother see you touching a faggot."
I looked around to see Damian across the room, glaring at Marshall. Damian was with some of his friends from the football team and most of them didn't notice us but those who did were now glaring. Isaac was also gone by that point.
The music suddenly cut off and the first and second floors went quite. Heather showed up in the middle of room, spotlight on her and microphone in hand.
"Listen up nerds! Thanks for coming to my party. We're doing this a little early but why not. I know there have been rumours about why I threw did party and sorry to disappoint, it has nothing to do with limp dick Will. This party is in the honour of my baby brother, Isaac! So clap or I'll get my dad to DOCK YOUR FREAKIN GRADES!"
Heather said, earning roars of claps as Isaac stood behind her, looking completely out of place. This was certainly the development but with Demian and his friends distracted I pulled Marshall away quietly to the third floor.
Mostly everyone was busy cheering in the floors below so it was fairly empty. I found an empty guest room and went in.
"What are you doing?" Marshall asked. "Getting you away from Damian before he tries to kill you or something." I said, my back leaning on the door as I contemplated whether or not I should lock the door. "I can handle myself, Damian doesn't scare me," he said with a hint of anger.
"He should."
I knew more than anyone what my brother was capable of doing. After all these years of dad training him and being molded into being exactly like him, I only feared what he'd do.
Suddenly it got silent. Not just us but the whole party went silent.
I opened the door and it was dead silent. We went down stairs and everyone was on the floor, Jay, Chase, Val, everyone. Everyone except the guys wearing creepy masks staring right at me. I quickly turned around but Marshall was now on the floor. I hesitated and one of the guys came rushing at me.
He tackled me into the wall and I quickly slammed my elbow to his neck. He let go of me and I slammed him down with an axe kick. I guess dad's training was coming in handy after all.
There were three guys left and they didn't move. Behind them I saw Isaac, from the looks of things he wasn't being held captive.
"Isaac, what the hell is going on?"
"I'm sorry but I can't explain that."
He quickly said before seemingly arguing with one of the other guys for a brief moment as if I wasn't just standing there.
"We take him alive." Isaac finally said.
As I was about to retaliate, I was struck in the back of the head. I dropped fast to the ground and before I lost consciousness I saw one of them start to carry my limp body.
