"Where is your daughter, Mrs. Arawn?" asked Darrell boomingly. Jumanah gave him a disgusting look and spat on him, earning a kick in her stomach, causing her to fall with blood coming out of her mouth. Arawn, who was hanging on the wall, had a dead look on his face as he stared into the space of the dark, cold dungeon they were being held captive in. He was in black pants only, stained with blood—some of it flesh, while another part was old and smelled awful. The ceiling was leaking, making the dungeon floor covered in a black liquid with a foul smell. Darrell kicked Katherine over and over again. After some time, her head hung loosely, swaying back and forth as she lost consciousness.
"Guard, when the stupid woman gains consciousness, make her talk. You're free to use any means; we just need to know where the daughter is. And Henry, do not kill her yet. I want her to watch as you guys have your way with her daughter over and over until there is nothing left of the filthy body. They will feel the pain I felt when I lost my mate to their silly daughter. They will face my wrath, and I'm not going to stop until I avenge my mate and any other werewolf they have killed!" shouts Darrell in frustration and anger. Looking at Arawn with cold eyes, he punches his face, and a crack is heard, giving him a little satisfaction.
"We will keep giving your wife the VIP treatment we have here. Maybe that will persuade you to talk, and that was only the welcome snack. Prepare for dinner and lunch," Darrell tells Arawn sarcastically. He then leaves the dungeon, banging the door loudly behind him. Crushing and things being banged against the wall were heard from the dungeon. The guards had fear written all over their faces. When the alpha left, they composed themselves and continued with the teasing.
Darrell walks towards the royal wing of the large house; he walks on until he comes to his room. By now, his eyes were blazing red. He takes the MacBook computer that is on his glass desk and flings it across the room with much force, forming a hole in the wall. He roars, and everyone in the pack's ground bows down. No one wanted to see the angry alpha's patience run out. In the blink of an eye, Darrell jumps from his office window and turns into his black midnight wolf form. He lands on the ground gracefully and takes off to the pack's forest. The pack goes back to its business, as they had become used to seeing their alpha this angry after he had lost his wife about a year ago. They went through their daily routine, silently hoping that the moon goddess would remember them and give the man another mate. Otherwise, they dreaded that they would lose their leader. Nothing felt good nowadays—not the pack runs, not the annual ball that was held to celebrate the pack's teens turning eighteen, where many would meet their mates, and they would be meeting their wolf for the first time. Grief hung heavily on the hearts of every pack member. They all knew that they would never be strong enough when they lacked their Luna.
Katherine was a great Luna—a friend to her pack, a good wife, and was about to be an incredible mother. But her dreams had been cut short by a silver-headed arrow through her heart as she was having her morning run. No one will forget that morning; it was the first time that their alpha had shed tears. He had gone wild and had killed many of the prisoners that were in his dungeon with his hands. The news had been reported by the patrol that morning. Darrell had run out of his conference room, leaving alphas from all over Europe and America in the conference room, confused and mad. He did not even bother to take extra clothes. He shifted and ran to the forest; he gave orders through the mind link to his beta the third in command and the pack doctor to come look for him and to come with other warriors. On arriving at the place where his mate was lying, bleeding profusely from her chest, he could not believe his eyes. One of the female warriors was pressing clothes on the wound. Using his super hearing ability, he listened to the heartbeat that he could barely find. He quickly picked her up in his hands and started running back to the pack house. On his way, he instructed Clive, his best friend and the beta, to track down anyone who was near the incident, especially people who weren't werewolves. He met with the other group halfway from the pack house.
When the beta's mate saw how her best friend had been wounded, her wolf whined but she stayed still, trying to hide her sorrow from the already angry alpha. The pack doctor tried to take his Luna from Darrell, but Darrell growled at him. Meanwhile, the doctor mind-linked the people who were back in the pack's hospital. He ordered them to prepare one of the beds in the royal ward. Make sure that the bed has its IV drip intact and prepare the theater. By now, Darrell was running at full speed, and the doctor almost lost him. Darrell went straight to the royal wards, and in the process, ripped off the entrance door. The pack members were jumping out of his way, others falling in the process. They had never seen their alpha this worried; beads of sweat were seen dripping from his forehead.
"Where is her bed?" the alpha impatiently shouted at one of the nurses who was trembling in fear. The nurse quickly led him to the bed and started treating her. By now, Darrell was pacing to and fro, and tugging his hair. He yelled at the five nurses who were attending to his wife. The pack doctor came in a few minutes after the alpha.
"Sir, I need you to get out so we can attend to your wife."
"No, I will stay here until she is well. She was hurt because I was not out with her, and I will not make the same mistake again. So don't dare tell me to leave," Darrell firmly told the old man. When Marcus slipped that there was nothing he could do, he mind-linked Isabella, the beta's mate, to come in with one of the strongest hypnosis and injected his bare shoulder with it. The mighty alpha then fell on the floor limply. Isabella then takes one of the ward linens and covers him since he had not noticed that he was naked all along, as he had been overcome by the howl of losing his mate. She then mind-linked some of the pack nurses to take him to one of the guest bedrooms in the royal wing. These bedrooms were used when alphas from other packs came to visit and wanted to spend the night. The doctor and the nurses were working in a great hurry. Marcus was giving orders endlessly.
"Don't just stand there looking at me as if I have a plastic nose, young lady. Pass me the tweezers and the blades that are in the sharp container on the table! Be quick; we don't have all day!" shouted one of the female nurses who was in the room. She went to get them, trembling in fear and anxiety. The doctors were trying by all means to save the unborn baby, who was only remaining three months to be born. Though Katharine would have been heavily pregnant if she was human, being a
werewolf had allowed her to continue going for her morning runs, and she did not have a big bump that would make her feel uncomfortable. When she went for runs, she always went in her wolf form, which made it easier.
That morning, she had woken up like any other morning before and did her usual morning routine. She had gone to check on the people on duty that day to cook. She ensured that everything was running smoothly in the kitchen. She had a little chat with other pack's women before taking one of the buns that were smelling delicious and had just come out of the oven. She then headed back upstairs where her handsome mate had just come out of the shower, and a grey towel was hanging loosely on his waist. His back was facing her; she walked towards him hugged him from behind and placed a feathery kiss on his broad shoulder. She could feel herself becoming sexually aroused, and she liked that she was the one in control. She then slowly took the towel off him and pushed him onto their bed that had white silky linens climbed on top of him and started teasing him. When she knew that she was fully aroused and she could feel it through her running leggings, which she wore, though she knew that they were of no much use, she had begged him to go with her for the run, but he claimed that he was having a serious meeting with some alphas about land division. After begging him and giving him the best puppy eyes she could master with no success, she had left for her run not knowing that that would be the last time she was seeing Darrell and the babies in her stomach that she loved listening to would not get a chance to see the beautiful sun. They would never have a chance to play with her white wolf.
She walked out of the big house that was holding 30,000 members of the pack. Outside of the house, there was a big fountain with water coming out of a wolf that was howling to the moon. Bright flowers were planted around it, giving the building a happy and vibrant feeling. Small kids would be seen running aimlessly in a park that was to the right of the building. They greeted their Luna joyfully and others in loud baby voices. She smiled at them and waved at them. She loved the kids, as they always made her day good, especially when her mate would not. Her pack adored her because she was polite to them and she treated everyone equally, whether royal or omega. She jogged to the woods until she came to a small clearing where she removed her clothes and transformed into the beautiful white wolf. She bade her clothes and took off running to her usual path, not knowing that she was being watched by one of the most talented hunters.
A lady was watching the Luna as she changed into her white wolf, waiting for the right time to strike. She had followed the clueless wolf, keeping pace with her effortlessly. After what seemed like an hour, the wolf came to a river where she bent to drink the clean water to quench her thirst, unaware of the hunter behind her who took the opportunity to aim her silver-headed arrow at the back and pierce her heart from the back. The huntress then left running immediately. Katherine fell into the lake; she half-shifted, her ears were wolf's, she had canines, and she had fur on her body except for her face which had fully transformed into a human one. She also had crawls on her limbs. The patrol teams were the ones who found her, though they knew they were going to be in great trouble. They mind-linked their alpha about the incidence. They argued amongst themselves, and in the end, they decided that it was best if the group leader mind-linked their alpha.
Darrell had prepared for the day and later gone downstairs to have his breakfast, which had been neatly placed. The rest of the pack joined him a few minutes later. The dining room was big enough to hold half the number of the pack members. The royal table was set on a higher ground compared to the rest of the tables. They followed the usual routine where the pack waited for the alpha to taste the food first, then give thanks to the people who had prepared it. Then the rest would continue with their breakfast happily. The little kids were seated in their area as they enjoyed their little celebration of cereals and milk. They threw food everywhere, and they ended up creating a big mess. You could see the omegas in the pack looking mad because they knew that they were the ones who were going to be responsible for cleaning up the dining room after everyone was done with breakfast. Not that the pack did discriminate against them, but work was shared according to the position one held in the pack. It was during that announcement that duties were shared. Darrell mentioned that the pack warriors needed to be aware of the cases of rogues that were increasing. He also reminded all pack members that the annual full moon ball was coming. There were cheers all around the dining room. This was one of the most awaited times of the year because many people got to meet their mates and those turning eighteen would be turning for the first time, though it was painful. The encouragement and happiness of seeing yourself as a wolf would not be compared. After breakfast, Darrell went to the conference room where the preparation for the meeting was going on. Unlike what people thought, they were clean and had greatly embraced the new technology. The theme of the meeting was red and white. The alphas started arriving at nine in the morning. The meeting started smoothly but after what seemed like thirty minutes, that's when Darrell received the bad news. He left the stranded alphas angry.
Clive had gone after the long-gone huntress with no luck. Clive even tried to contact other packs neighboring them to see if they could be lucky, but that was not their day. They decided to go back to the pack house and have a better plan to work with. On arriving, Clive went directly to the hospital to look out for his friend because he knew that this was the time he needed him most. His mate was the first person he saw who explained to him the situation.
"I think it's better we take him to the restraining room; otherwise, we are going to have a hard job to contain him," said Clive.
"We have lost the twins, and the mother is in a coma. Her wolf is not healing herself; maybe it's better if the alpha stays here with her to help her wolf heal," proposed Isabella. Yeah, no matter how hard Marcus and his team had worked, they did not manage to save the two fetuses. That day, the whole pack was full of sadness. They did not carry on with the usual activities; the kids did not play; they did not have the communal meals; they did not go for the communal runs. Everyone felt the loss of the lovely Luna. When the alpha had gained consciousness, he did not need to be told anything; he could already tell that things were bad. He had immediately asked to see his wife. When he heard that he had lost his precious kids, he had become outraged and started crushing things. Those who were in the hospital were forced to run for their dear lives. The pack's most powerful warriors were called to help and hold him down enough to be injected with another dosage of hypnotic. But being a midnight wolf, their efforts were fruitless because the alpha was harming anything that came his way, which earned a few
warriors fractures and sprains as the alpha had effortlessly thrown them against the walls. That's when Clive decided they had had enough of the chaos and called the former alpha and Luna, who were the parents of Darrell who came immediately. They carefully entered the hospital which was turned upside down except for the bed where his wife was laid with tubes everywhere and a large bandage across. Upon seeing this, Luna ran to his son's side who was pacing the room as if possessed by an evil spirit. When Darrell saw his parents, he fell on his knees and bawled his eyes out in pain. Meryl ran to his side immediately, with his father following closely. Basil's face was red with rage. When he saw the wound on his son's wife's chest, he knew who had made the shot. He had been alive for a long time, and he had encountered all the hunters, and he had become familiar with their work. Being a lycan came in handy when he needed to fight them. He stormed out of the hospital. He commanded Clive to hold an immediate meeting with the supernatural council. Clive went and started making calls to the groups that were in the council. The council was formed by Melvyn, the king of the vampires, and Ursula, the leader of all the witches and the wizards. Even though these groups did not get along normally, they formed a group to help them fight the hunters after they had lost a large number of them. The group formed would help in case any of the races were attacked by the hunters. Correct this chapter grammatically.
