Chereads / My Omniverse System: Shameless Ally / Chapter 6 - Rebirth Amidst Peril

Chapter 6 - Rebirth Amidst Peril

Surrounded by an enchanted jungle, a young nineteen-year-old boy lay on the ground, covered in blood.

A substantial, deep cut marred his forehead, spilling brain matter onto the ground.

A round hole, as wide as five clenched fists combined, pierced his chest, providing a view through to the other side of the jungle. This sizable opening exposed his internal organs.

The blood and organs on the ground were still fresh at the moment, and upon careful analysis, it became evident that the young boy who lay on the ground had died only a few minutes ago.

"Urrrrmmm!" Suddenly, the lifeless figure on the ground grunted, and his body trembled. The boy's eyelids fluttered, as if he were struggling to open them.

Then, after just a heartbeat or two, the man succeeded as a pair of golden eyes burst open with breathtaking grace.

The boy gasp for breath as his eyes scan the surroundings with unwavering vigilant, taking in the macabre sight of blood and grisly organs scattered on the ground.

He pushed to lift his body from the ground but soon realised he was weak all over, unable to move any part of his body except his head and hands.

The young boy was confused and voiced his thoughts. "Hmmm, where is this place? How did I suddenly wake up in a jungle? If I remember correctly, I was supposed to carry out a mission with Varian today."

But the instant the name 'Varian' escaped his lips, as if triggered by some hidden force, he suddenly felt an incomparable pain throughout his body, especially in his head.

Like an army of a million ants were relentlessly biting on his body at the same time.

A flood of memories started pouring into the young man's brain, merging his past and current life experiences together as his brain absorbed them.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

The boy roared as he swiftly clutched his head with both hands and shook it vigorously. He so wished he could roll on the ground, but he couldn't move a single leg, let alone his whole body.

After what seemed like an eternity, the pain began to slow down and gently fade away. The boy was drenched in sweat all over, lying motionless on the ground.

"I've been reincarnated? My soul's undergone a transformation?" Disbelief surged within the man, as if he was trapped in a dream.

Yes, you've got it spot on! That young boy, covered with blood and brain matter, is none other than Zephyrion, the youthful assassin hailing from planet Earth. He's the terrifying Venomblade, who strikes fear deep into the hearts of his enemies.

Tears slid down Zephyrion's face as he still found it hard to believe. Reincarnation had been his lifelong passion since childhood, for heaven's sake!

How many training sessions and precious hours had he sacrificed just to understand the concept of soul rebirth?

"But then, his joyful mood took an unexpected twist when memories of his unfortunate demise resurfaced.

"Varian!"

His eyes turned bloodshot, brimming with resentment as he ground his teeth hard. 'I wish for you to experience and suffer endless death.'"

Zephyrion didn't know if he should feel happy or sad about being reincarnated. Whenever he was feeling joyful, it would be shadowed by the betrayal inflicted by his own twin brother."

Zephyrion scanned his surroundings, summoning his determination to get up once more, and to his astonishment, he succeeded.

It was in that very instant that he became acutely aware of the extent of his injuries- a gaping hole in his chest, a profound gash between his brow, and a few smattering of wounds all over his body ."

All at once, a mysterious energy surged within him as he gazed down and noticed that the big hole in his chest was closing up, and even the deep cut on his head was healing at a terrifying speed.

In a matter of mere seconds, his body was restored to its flawless state, free of any injuries.

Zephyrion was busy marveling at his new body in astonishment and mused aloud. "I think this is the miraculous process of rebirth, erasing all my injuries."

He was too engrossed in checking out his new body that he failed to notice a lonely stone drifting through the air, making its way towards his head.

BANG!

"Yo, yo, yo! How on earth are you still kicking after such a brutal beatdown? And what's the deal with those injuries? I didn't even spot a scratch on you!" A voice, emanating from a boy with sun-kissed blonde locks, rang out with slight shock in the air.

Zephyrion was busy looking up when he felt a stone hit him on the head, a tiny gash emerging on his forehead, and a trickle of blood began to flow.

Two youths, roughly his age, strolled toward him at a leisurely pace from a short distance away."

In the days before his demise, even the smallest stone flying in his way would have been detected by his senses the moment it was thrown. But now....

"Zephyrion was already in a bad mood whenever he remembered the memory of his demise. Now, as he witnessed fresh blood trickling down his forehead, bringing in new cut when his body has just been cleaned and free from any injuries, a surge of anger welled up within him."

"With an ice-cold, piercing gaze, he delved into his mind and scan his brain, seeking the memories and identities of the two youngsters at a few distance away.

After a mere few seconds, his gaze turned sharper, like the edge of a shining sword, as it turns out – these two boys were the very culprits responsible for the demise of the individual whose body he now occupies.

"Very good, I might as well kill this two boys to make the previous owner of this body soul rest in peace." Zephyrion thought in his mind as the two boys were getting closer to where he stood.

"He must have used a rejuvenation pill. How else can he still be alive after suffering that kind of injury from us? I did suggest earlier that we search this person, but you dismissed the idea, claiming the worthless fellow couldn't possess anything of value. But now, a precious pill was wasted," the other boy beside the one who spoke earlier complained.

The blonde-haired boy was taken aback. "Where did this trash get the money to buy a rejuvenation pill? It doesn't matter anyways," he chuckled, "we'll simply kill him once more and conduct a thorough search later."

"You are courting death!" Zephyrion was furious, his patience fraying at the edges.

He couldn't bear the nonchalant manner in which the blond-haired youth always talked about killing him, as if he were some kind of chicken to be slaughtered at any time.

On Earth, anyone daring to speak to him in such a manner had already sealed their fate.

With a swift glance around, he spotted a sturdy, pointed tree branch resting on the ground before him. He gracefully bent down to pick it up.

Like a phantom and the grace of a ghost, he glided forward.

Zephyrion's mind painted a vivid picture of two throats splitting open, crimson blood flowing everywhere.

Yet, reality seemed cruel, he realized he moved slower than usual. As he reached the blonde youth, poised with the sharp branch aimed at his throat, the moment felt like time was slowing down.

BANNNGG!

With a resounding bang, the jungle echoed as Zephyrion's body arched, meeting a powerful blow to his abdomen. He soared through the sky like a kite, blood escaping his lips.

"Umm," Zephyrion hit the ground heavily, huge amount of blood leaving his lips. "How could this be possible?" He whispered to himself, then, a memory sparked in his mind, and he recollected.

"Ah, f*ck it!" Droplets of sweat began to gather upon his forehead. Earlier, his anger had clouded his memory, but now it hit him like a ton of bricks.

This wasn't his original earthly body, and he'd been stripped of all his hard-earned accumulated cultivation power.

What more, the body he now inhabited was as weak as a newborn chick, totally devoid of any innate talent for wielding magic or mastering martial arts. Yet, in the realm of scholarly pursuits, he was an unparalleled prodigy.

"Hahaha!" The blonde guy chuckles echoed as the two watched the seemingly feeble Zephyrion laying on the ground weakly.

"This one's got guts, eh? But even if you multiplied him by ten," the blonde remarked to his companion, "he's still not enough."

"Hahaha." Their laughter filled the air, a sign they were not in a hurry to kill the individual before them.

Zephyrion was despressed inside, once full of confidence as he boldly confronted the two boys, but now, he racked his brain on the task of finding a way to escape and avoid meeting an untimely death for the second time.

Merely moments ago, he'd been granted a fresh start through reincarnation. Yet, not even twenty minutes had passed since he awoke in this bewildering jungle, and now, he was close to the brink of another demise.

Zephyrion's eyes were filled with desperation as he scanned the surroundings, searching for an elusive path to escape. "Am I about to set a new record as the fastest reincarnated being to die?"

"DING!!!"

Then, like a powerful knight who suddenly emerged to rescue the kidnapped and dying princess from the clutches of the witches, it manifested with a noble purpose and unwavering valor.

["Congratulations host, you have been granted the Omniverse System"]
