Upon seeing the golden portal, Kalle swallowed a mouthful of saliva and took a step closer to it.
But before he went in, he asked the staff,
'Staff, just to be clear, I can go out of the legacy dungeon anytime I want, right?'
As usual, the staff replied as concisely as possible, 'Yes.'
'I won't endanger myself here or anything correct? I won't die in this dungeon?'
'Yes.'
Kalle then heaved a sigh of relief before steeling himself.
The dungeon points that he used to summon the two goblin warriors had already begun regenerating and he would be able to summon more of them soon if needed.
He had unsummoned them and only got half of what he used to summon them, but the dungeon points regenerated over time so he didn't have to be afraid of running out of dungeon points.
When his dungeon points reached 90/100, Kalle then took the final step towards the golden portal.
'Here we go.'
Blinding light assaulted his vision before Kalle found himself in a completely different place.
The first thing that he noticed was the amount of mana that he felt filling up his surroundings was several levels above the ambient mana he felt on Earth.
He wasn't on Earth anymore, nor did he find himself in a forest with a village full of goblins.
Instead, he found himself standing in the middle of a circular room that was fully made out of stone.
The stones were smooth in texture, as Kalle somehow could even feel the smoothness of the stone from just looking at the stone floor beneath his feet.
However, the smooth stone walls didn't look as smooth as the floor.
The material used was the same, but there were hundreds, thousands, or maybe even hundreds of thousands of symbols filling up the wall of the circular stone room.
Kalle looked up and he could only see an endless darkness above him.
He observed his surroundings and found that there were 4 doors present in the circular room. Each door faced the opposite direction as Kalle stood right in the middle of them.
All the doors were made out of stones and all of them were closed.
However, there was one door that stood out to Kalle since the door had a glowing symbol right above it.
The other doors also had one significantly giant symbol above them, but those ones weren't glowing, and only that one door had the glowing symbol.
'I assume that is the first door that I need to open?' Kalle pointed at the door with the glowing symbol.
'Yes.'
Kalle then walked closer to the door with the glowing symbol and took a good look at it.
He tried to see whether he recognized anything or whether he could find any info on the door.
But no matter how hard he looked, he couldn't find out about anything as he didn't have a single clue about any of the symbols carved onto the smooth stone walls.
'I guess I just need to go in to find out… There also shouldn't be any danger for me according to the staff….'
Before going in, Kalle opened up his inventory first and got the pure white egg that Gilgamesh gave him.
It didn't have any other explanations other than its name, which was Gilgamesh's Gift, and the instruction to hatch it inside the legacy dungeon, which was the place he was currently in right now.
So to find out more about it, Kalle pulled it out.
He was expecting a small egg, the size of a chicken's.
But when he actually held it in his hands, Kalle found that the egg was even bigger than an ostrich's egg.
It was big enough that Kalle needed to hold it with both of his hands and the egg fully covered his chest and neck.
'This is a damn huge egg…
I wonder what's lying inside it.'
Kalle waited a few moments for the egg to change or even hatch when it found itself inside the legacy dungeon, but neither actually happened as Kalle received images in his mind instead.
There were only three images, but Kalle understood clearly what he was supposed to do with the egg.
'As per usual, you are a very understanding staff.' He praised the silver staff that could read his mind and gave him the info he needed.
Following the instructions he received, Kalle put his mana into the pure white egg and changes began to happen.
From its pure white color, silvery blue hues began covering the whole egg from the bottom to its tip.
Kalle waited for the changes to complete before placing the egg in the middle of the circular room.
He saw the egg was perfectly in the middle of the room and stared at it for a few seconds before thinking, 'Should I really just leave this thing on the floor? It will really hatch right?'
Not hearing any answer or comments from the staff, Kalle assumed that his guess was correct and he just left the egg there.
But not before talking to the egg first.
"Kid, whatever you are inside that shell, just know that I will accept you for whoever you are. You just need to grow up healthy and well."
He had heard somewhere on the internet that talking to babies before they were born was a good thing so he did. Not knowing whether it had any actual effects or not.
After saying his goodbyes to the egg, Kalle then walked towards the door once again and tapped the door with the silver staff.
The closed stone door then began creaking as it slowly opened.
Kalle could only see another wall behind the door when he peeped in before the door was fully opened, but after it was opened properly, the same golden portal that was the entrance of the legacy dungeon appeared in front of the stone door.
'I guess I need to step inside once more, right?'
'Yes.'
'Okay.'
Nodding his head, Kalle gripped the staff tight and went inside the golden portal once again.
Just like before, Kalle found himself in a completely different environment.
This time, Kalle found himself in a poorly lit cave.
How did he know it was a cave?
The ceiling was low, the walls surrounding him were made of jagged rocks and the space was cramped.
There weren't any openings or bright sources of light as Kalle could only see his surroundings due to the glowing crystals he found in the walls, on the ground, and on the ceiling of the cave.
He took his time observing the place calmly and tried to figure out what he was supposed to do inside this dungeon.
The staff had told him that the legacy dungeon, as its name suggests, was a legacy from Gilgamesh for him.
He would be able to claim the dungeons inside the legacy dungeon which enabled him to gain dungeon points and summon more monsters as his army.
So Kalle knew that he was currently inside another dungeon.
He needed to conquer the dungeon and claim it, which meant that he needed to defeat the monsters inside the dungeon, including the boss of the dungeon.
But the staff didn't tell him what dungeon he was currently in and what kind of enemy he would be facing.
Fortunately, Kalle didn't have to wonder for long.
Reflecting the light from the glowing stones, Kalle could see a creature moving, or rather, jumping slowly on the ground not too far away from him.
The creature was even smaller than the green-skinned goblins that were only half as tall as him.
It was only slightly taller than Kalle's ankles.
Its round body jiggled around whenever it landed on the ground after jumping and it didn't have any menacing features at all.
Without a single worry, Kalle walked up closer to the creature and stared at it from above.
"A slime… I'm currently inside a slime dungeon…"
As if to show his dominance over the little creature, Kalle simply raised his feet and stomped down on the creature without using even an ounce of mana.
"Gilgamesh must have been thoughtful and decided to give me freebie dungeon points to-"
But Kalle's mouth suddenly stopped speaking properly as a thundering scream replaced it.
"ARGHHHHHH!!!"
With his mouth still screaming, Kalle looked down below and saw that the foot that he used to stomp the slime had gone.
It was literally gone, disappearing into nothing as the slime completely melted it.
With only a single foot holding his body, Kalle soon lost his balance and fell headfirst into the ground.
He wasn't able to think of anything as the pain from having his foot melted in just a split second overloaded his brain.
Kalle was about to pass out from the pain and shock that he felt.
But the slime didn't give him that luxury as he soon felt his head sting very badly before his world turned dark as the slime melted his whole head.
In the next second when he felt all his pain had disappeared, Kalle heard the staff's familiar voice in his mind,
'You have died.'
