Unbeatable Chef Xenon
Chapter 22
****
Xenon arrived at the house, using the address given to him to locate the place which was a little bit far from where he was staying.
It was a rusty brown bungalow with a bright garden amid the setting to give it a bright glow. It looked simple, quiet, and homely and for a moment he hoped he was in the right house and not in the wrong place. He stood before the door and knocked and there was no response.
After three more knocks, the door opened to reveal a blue-eyed lady with lush dark hair whose eyes flickered in shock to admiration.
"Don't tell me you're Xenon?" She asked, not wanting to believe the man her mother was yelling at was looking like a model before her even though he kind of looked shabby.
"I am, how do you know that?"
"Well, come inside. My mum needs you." She replied and opened the door wider, making Xenon walk inside.
The house looked more beautiful as it was painted with sky blue and baby pink rectangular stripes, the sofa was kept round and a glass center table stood in the front with a flower vase on top.
While he was admiring the settings of the house, a woman in her mid-forties came inside as if she had been expecting someone for ages and slammed a paper on the table.
"I believe you're Xenon so I'll go straight to the point. That's a list of what your grandmother collected from me when she was alive and she promised to pay back. Now that she's no more, you will have to take responsibility, and looking at your appearance, you look worse than your grandmother " The woman uttered angrily without sparing him a look and folded her arms across her chest while Xenon took the paper to have a look of the things his grandmother had gotten.
"So, you'll work here with me and my daughters for a month to redeem your debt as I'm not running a charity organization, we have a farm where we plant food items, our house is big enough for chores and to survive we sell some of the e planted crops we harvested."
"W.W... wait, what do you mean by medicines? What are the names of medical products? What had my grandmother had to do with that and from what she explained to me, you guys don't exist! I don't know you all and you're not related to me." Xenon spat out at the woman who expressed a horrific shock at the boldness he possessed to speak back to her.
She knew him to be poor, useless, and discarded but she didn't expect him to exude such authority.
"That's trash! I know your family long before you exit."
"And why are you acting like a stranger over a dead person? I bet my grandmother might have needed these medicines for a purpose and not just for fun?" He fired back at her now, feeling pissed at her manner of approach and speech.
"Your grandmother has been suffering from ADHD symptoms and she came to me for medicines promising to pay back, given that my husband is a pharmacist, she gets them always, and right now, we need the money immediately and if you can't provide it, get to work immediately!"
"How much is this debt you're talking about?" Xenon asked her, feeling frustrated already. He needed to leave here immediately.
"As if you can even pay a dime!" She threw a rag at his face and continued talking.
"She's been collecting these Medications for a year now and trust me, you don't want to know the price. Follow me, you need to clean the rails and glass of the windows in the living room, bedrooms and kitchen. We are having a guest in the evening."
She told Xenon who let out an exasperated sigh. This wasn't his plan at all as he has a lot to do other than wasting his time away. He shut his eyes, wondering if she should follow her or just yell at her to drop her account details to clear her off but something pushed him to continue.
The lady who had attended to him couldn't stop gawking at him shamelessly as she would wink at him at any interval their eyes met and Xenon knew this wouldn't be good in any way. Her mother seemed stubborn and won't listen to anything he has to say to get the hell out of there and arguing with her seems to be pissing her off.
So he simply did as he was told without any argument, the kitchen looked too small, so small that he knew that there was just on earth he would ever stand here to cook.
Gosh! He was so used to Royal Volt Cuisine with a large and neat space but here it looks so off. He didn't mind but cleaned what needed to be cleaned, he swept the place and made it beat, wiping the diets off the windows and going over to the living room to do the same so swiftly.
"Don't just sit there and watch Lilith! Go to the market immediately and get some food items for him to prepare. I heard he works in a very classy restaurant " She told her daughter who grinned and Xenon gasped.
"No! I'm not cooking a dime. You won't turn me to your house help overnight, I will clean the house and get away from here, I have other things to do aside from working all day long!" Xenon uttered irritatedly and she laughed.
"Says who? You don't get to choose that so concentrate on your job Xenon. If you don't cooperate, I can make you lose your position as an apprentice in that Royal Volt! I'm sure you don't know that I'm well connected too irrespective of my status!" She fired at him and Xenon wanted to tell her that he didn't care.
All he needed was to get the hell out of this place.
When he was done with the chores, he was sweating and decided to take his shirt off to sit outside. He wondered how life would have been for him if he wasn't the son of a powerful person, he saw how harsh life was and he would have continued in thorns and pain which makes him so bittered at how people treat the poor because of the material things they lack.
While he was still lost in thought, he didn't notice anyone walking outside and coming towards him as his head was buried to the ground until he felt a tap on his shoulders.
"Uhm..who are you and what are you doing in our house?" The tiny voice said and he was stunned for a moment. The lady before him was out of the world, she looked beautiful to the core and her deep hazel eyes didn't hide that fact.
He cleared his throat and sighed.
"Working for my grandmother's debt, I bet you're all in this and who are you too? I didn't see you when I came in?" He asked and she frowned, the tendrils of her hair fell to the side as she bit her lips. Her breasts were so full on display bringing out her perfect curves in her tank top.
"I'm Maria, the First daughter of my family and she said I had a cousin who would clear his grandmother's debt. I didn't know It would be you, I'm sorry about that but my mum is a greedy and crazy woman." She explained and he hummed.
"Yeah, she surely is. I can't believe I'm waiting for the next chore when I'm supposed to be out there doing other things. It isn't funny but I'll leave one when I'm done."
"I sincerely apologize, my father didn't mind at all but–my mum is weird, I hope you don't see the bad side of this family too soon. We are not monsters and we'll be glad to welcome you any other time." She smiled at him and stood up and Xenon couldn't miss the dimples that sank and the full flesh of her laps. Her jeans were tight, displaying the full curves of her ass and her niceness was beginning to turn him on which was wrong.
If only everyone smiled at her then he would have been at ease.
"Thanks, Maria, I'll just wait till your sister comes back. I need to cook next "
Her eyes lit up immediately and she pushed her blonde hair to the side beautifully.
"Oh really? I'll join you then."
Xenon's heart flipped at the gesture as he became excited that they would be close in such a little space in the kitchen but he didn't mind. She was too beautiful to be ignored.
"Alright, I look forward to that." He flashed her a genuine smile too and watched her leave, swaying her hips seductively with a juggle of her ass and he released a shaky breath.
"I need to get the get out of this place." He muttered to himself and stood up.
Inside the little comfy room of Abigail, Maria's mother. She was deep in a call conversation, feeling scared and excited at the same time and scanning her eyes to be sure that no one was Kisteyas she spotted in a whispery voice.
"Sure, I'll make sure he sleeps overnight. He's not the arguing type and he's a boy I can handle."
~Fine then, if we come over and meet him there successfully, you will have the money sent into your account while we do our business and leave.
"Alright, I'll make sure he stays. Don't worry about any other thing sir, everything must come out perfectly." She said Into the phone and cut the call, sighing in relief.
