It was past midnight when Xenon finally moved from the position he was laid. He forced his eyes open and he was too weak to do anything on the spot and realized that he was on the floor in a strange room.
His heartbeat quickened and fear gripped his entire body.
"Am I already kidnapped? Will I finally die?" He asked rhetorically and stood up despite feeling so weak and helpless.
He heard shushing sounds outside the room and took some steps to listen to whatever it was they were saying.
"You're wasting our time woman! Where is he?" An unfamiliar voice yelled out.

Abigail laughed heartily at them.
"My daughters are not here and won't pay for anything, if you have nothing to say, just—"

"Shit!" He exclaimed in fear as silence took over, he knew they had hurt her and would start looking for him immediately.
Just when he looked at the window and thought of jumping over it, a hand grabbed him and he yelled in horror but another hand covered his mouth immediately.
"We need to get out of here Xenon or they will kill you! I don't know what they did to my mum but they are not ordinary people." Mara exclaimed with fear coursing through her voice and Xenon looked confused.
"Come, I passed through the back door of the kitchen to this room." She tried to explain to him that she knew he would think of her as a ghost to suddenly barge inside the room.
"How do we get out?"
"Through the kitchen door, I'll lock this one once we get out." She told him and they both heard a knock on the door which made their hearts palpate in fear, she grabbed his hands and dragged him towards the other end of the door that was covered with curtains.
In no time, they were out of the room and now in the kitchen shutting the door behind them and twisted the knob to lock.
Xenon looked around to discover that there was no door around or any curtains to cover it up.
"How do we leave here?" He asked in frustration and she sighed.
"Relax, I'll show you." She said and walked over to the standing fridge beside the cupboard and used all her might to push it to no avail.
"I need your help, it's not a rolling fridge." She said and Xenon went to help her, pushing the fridge to the side and a door was revealed which made Xenon sigh in relief.
Maria smiled and opened the door but it was tightly shut and locked which creased a frown on her beautiful face.
"What's wrong?" Xenon asked, seeing her discomfort but she ignored it and tried severally to open it but it was futile.
"It's locked outside!" She kicked the door in anger and walked past him.
"Where are you going to?" He asked her.
"I need to unlock the door so you can pass through it and leave!"
"But those men are out there Maria! You might lead them to me out of fear!"
"No, I won't!" She glared at him.
"I promise, I just want you to leave here successfully before they see you."
"Then why did you even concede to your mother's plans if you wanted me to leave, you didn't look like it was any of your business," Xenon asked irritatedly, displeased at the fact that she acted so sweet at first and then became a devil at the end.
"My mum left me with no choice and she gave us a choice too just in case things get messy! So stop asking me questions and let me go and open the door now." She told him and turned to leave but Xenon grabbed her back.
"Let's stay here, we will leave together once they are out of sight."
He told her and she bit her lips.
"And how are we going to know once they leave?"
"The window, we'll watch them from here. Switch off the lights." He told her and she turned her back to do that by flicking the switch.
They were both breathing heavily and tried to listen to any more sounds and they did as doors bounced and banged at every interval.
"Is your mum okay?" Xenon asked where and he couldn't see her expression in the dark.
"I don't know but I know that they didn't keep to the end of their agreement.
I'm sorry this is happening, my mum caused all of this " She told him sincerely and he just nodded till it became silent except for the heavy inhaling and exhaling of their breath.
Xenon felt a chair beside him and sat on it, he regretted the fact that he was acting like a coward instead of facing those men. "Where are you Xenon?" She asked nervously when she heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen door and took some steps backward
