Yellow sand in the sky, sun in the sky, an endless sea of yellow sand as far as the eye can see.
It doesn't look like much of a hunt in this hellhole.
Like August, Angela and Karel, who had come up a step slower, were immediately stunned by the sight.
In front of a cave entrance, halfway up a two thousand metre peak.
Three red, blue, and white juvenile dragons stood at the entrance of the cave with their heads stretched out, looking at the yellow sand in the sky together in a daze.
"Goo~" x3
Three stomach rumbles woke up the three young dragons.
Feeling the cramping sensation coming from his stomach, August's vertical pupils narrowed slightly.
Even in a desert, there should be living things, like this long crack below, where it is protected from the shade, and August instinctively feels that there should be animals gathering down there.
He stuck out the dragon's head to look down.
It was high, and the familiar fear of heights did not come.
I guess the gargoyle gene has changed his fear of heights.
"August, what do we do now?"
Karel's voice trailed off a little; there was nothing worse than finding yourself in the desert, breaking your shell.
When August heard Karel's question, he turned his head sideways to Karel's right.
In their vertical white pupils August saw a distinct uneasiness.
"Fly down, there must be other creatures in this rift," she said succinctly.
"August is right, this great rift shelters Shade, there must be creatures gathering in it," Angela said.
She and August thought together, both feeling that there must be creatures down here in the Great Rift.
"Well then, I'm at your disposal."
Looking at her, August nodded, the dragon's head tilting back to the side as it continued to look down into the Great Rift.
"I'll fly first. You guys follow."
"Good," Karel said.
"Aha," Angela.
Flight was a dragon's instinct, and there was no such thing as cowardice.
August stood up and unfolded his four metre thick dragon wings, tilting his head to look at them.
The shape of the wings was not too different from a bat's, but his own dragon wings were thick and heavy, unlike a bat's which were just a thin membrane of flesh, and covered with crimson dragon scales that glowed pale in the sunlight.
Not bad. I've got really nice wings.
After a self-satisfied comment in his mind, August leapt straight out, his hind legs firing.
The body that leapt out of the hole in the cliff didn't fall, it just floated and glided downwards.
Lifting his head, he flapped his wings vigorously, and the dragon's body rose immediately.
When he lowered his head, the dragon's body descended.
After a few repeated attempts, August felt that he had mastered the art of flying.
Seeing that August had already flown out, Karel and Angela followed suit and flew out of the cliff hole in phase order.
Their flight was no surprise, and they quickly took control of their flying skills.
With the sound of the wind in his ears, August tilted his head to the side and realised it was Angela.
She was catching up to him.
Turning the dragon's head to look back, Karel was still some distance away.
August slowed down.
Seeing August slowing down, Angela obediently followed suit.
Now she and Karel were on August's terms.
As he flew, August thought carefully.
Is it the skill of Accelerated Flight?
To actually be able to fly that fast, this skill wasn't exactly useless.
At least on the running part, this Angela guy could definitely get rid of himself and Karel.
As both August and Angela slowed down, Karel, who was trailing behind, soon caught up and the three young dragons flew side by side.
Seeing that Karel was following, August spoke up.
"We'll drop down to stay in the valley and fly slowly, looking for prey."
"If you see any signs of prey, let me know."
"Uh-huh," Karel said.
"Okay," Angela.
Hearing the answer, August took the lead and lowered his form to the top of the rift.
Karel and Angela followed behind.
Soon the three young dragons were flying side by side again, at low speed over the Great Rift.
As they flew, August scanned the ground that provided shade below the rift.
The ground below was dry, but not yellow sand.
It's also much cooler down in the Great Rift compared to the hot yellow sand above.
Vegetation or anything else was not to be found at the moment.
Fly on.
....
The three young dragons, who had been flying for half an hour with nothing to show for it, were beginning to get low.
Just then, Angela mechanically glanced to the right, where the rift slopes were, and her vision stopped.
A cave! A small hole in the slope of the Great Rift.
The originally listless blue vertical pupils immediately took on a spirit.
"August~"
Angela snapped.
"What's going on? Have you found something?" August asked directly, his voice urgent.
His eyes were hungry for anything, as long as it was edible.
"There's a small hole over there."
August and Karel, who had been dejected to hear this, perked up.
The body was floating.
Angela's dragon's head was pointing across the slopes of the Great Rift.
He followed Angela's line of sight.
Sure enough, there was a small dark hole on the slope of the Great Rift over there.
August's mood brightened.
With his eyes fixed on the small hole above the slope of the Great Rift, he stirred his wings and flew over.
Without a greeting from August, Karel and Angela knew they had to follow.
Like August, they were now hungry.
They flew to the mouth of the small cave and landed.
It was a small hole, about half a metre in length and width, with some withered grass nearby.
The dragon's head approached the hole and sniffed.
An animal scent reached the tip of his nose, and it was fresh.
August's vertical pupils instantly glowed; there was definitely a creature in here!
Biology = eating meat.
Dragon saliva dripped down the dragon's kiss, and August, looking like a hungry dragon, impatiently stretched out his claws to quickly dig up the dirt!
Seeing August in action, Karel immediately went up to join the army of diggers.
She was hungry and wanted meat!
"That~ I think we can smoke them out."
The faint voice of suggestion was Angela.
Hearing this, August came to his senses and stopped digging.
This is indeed a good way to do it, or at least much more efficient than digging up dirt.
My starving self hadn't thought of that.
The dragon's head lifted and it scanned the area.
As far as the eye could see, there wasn't much dry vegetation on this half of the hill.
It should be easy to gather.
Eye to Angela.
"Okay, at your service."
Hearing August's words, Angela nodded her dragon head.
In her heart she was also relieved, luckily this August could still listen to advice, if he was like those red dragons who liked to be reckless to the end, she could only obediently listen to her and join the army of planners.
It didn't fit into the aesthetic of the way she did things, and it was stupid, but who made August the boss now?
He looked at Karel, who was still digging in the dirt, and leaned over to nudge the addicted digger.
