Chereads / Marked by her rejected mate / Chapter 19 - Risking nothing

Chapter 19 - Risking nothing

Watching silently as the men approached her, the rogue tried cutting the chains to escape. They held her shorts and were about to pull them off, but Alpha Alvin raised his hands into the air swiftly, stopping them before they could do anything.

"Before we go to that extent, how about we use one stone to kill double birds?" he spoke, after peeking at Annabelle and noticing the look of fright and displeasure on her face. He took slow strides towards the chest box and picked out an arrow and a bow before returning to the already quivering Annabelle.

"Annabelle, come and stand before me," he said, making her heart skip in fear. She shook her head, secretly telling him not to call her to do anything, but he continued staring at her.

"M...e?" she stuttered, and when he nodded, she looked around before walking with trembling legs towards him.

Standing before him, he smiled lightly, which no one else saw except her, and he walked behind her.

"Hold the bow," he told her, fixing the arrow.

"Our target would be her right knee," he said, holding her hands to the bow while her heart continued beating hard.

Was she about to kill someone?

"Alvin…." She tried calling but was shushed by him.

"Annabelle, concentrate!" he scolded, and she swallowed hard.

"Fire!" he said, freeing her hands, but the arrow instead of propelling towards the knee of the girl, it changed its direction and flew towards Lucas.

But within a twinkle of an eye, he caught it and stood as though nothing awful almost happened.

Annabelle, staring with wide eyes, peeked at Alpha Alvin who was staring down at her, which made her quickly turn away her face.

"Again!" she heard him say before he picked up another arrow.

"Hold it, Annabelle!" he said and gave it to her.

"I said her right knee is the target, not Lucas. Now fire!" he said, and she immediately freed the arrow with shaky hands, watching as it pierced the chest box.

"That was manageable."

She heaved a sigh of relief.

"Again!" he said, making her eyes widen.

"I repeat the target is her right knee," he said, and she targeted the arrow at her right knee.

"Now fire," he said, and she left the arrow, and everyone watched as it flew in the air, before piercing the groin of one of the hefty men.

Silence enveloped everywhere as everyone stared at the arrow, which was pierced into his groin with wide eyes.

"Alpha… I think I'm ... I'm just gonna leave," the hefty man with an arrow pierced in his groin said with a shaky voice. With a nod from Alpha Alvin, he left with the arrow still pierced into his groin.

"Puff…!!" The girl who was chained suddenly burst out laughing loud while the head of the others snapped towards her.

Annabelle, who had already fainted after shooting the arrow at the man's groin, was now held in Alpha Alvin's arms as he walked towards the girl.

"You are ready to spew it out, right?" he asked, and she nodded reluctantly.

"What's his name?" he asked, staring intently at her. He would know if she was telling lies or not.

"It's Alpha Abel of the Red Sky Pack. He is among the group interested in retrieving Luna's blood. He had his plans on kidnapping or killing the Luna of the Blue Sea Pack, in order to get you, that was why he sent me, and now that I've betrayed him, he will kill me," she said soberly.

After Alpha Alvin knew that she was saying the truth, he continued staring at her.

"Is there any way you can escape your death?" he asked, and she shook her head.

"My families are there, if I don't return, he will kill them."

"So you are one of his assassins," he said, nodding.

"I'm not supposed to spare your life, but I would, so that you'll send this message to him. Tell Alpha Able that I said he shouldn't make me visit him, or else there would be chaos, is that clear?"

"Yes, Alpha," she said, her legs trembling.

"I'm not risking anything for the sake of my little mate here. I don't think she would like to hear that you died, but the next time any of you disturbs my mate, I'll be tempted to do something," he said to her before turning to Lucas.

"Lucas, get important information from her, and give her the punishments of intruders, before sending her home."

"Okay, boss."

"Inform the gammas to keep tight security," he said before walking away from the torture room with Annabelle in his arms, but he stopped outside the door, turning back to the rogue.

"Also tell his niece, Mirabell, that I said the next time she stabs Annabelle with a dagger like the way she did, I'll kill her," he concluded before walking away.

Laying her on the bed, he smiled and rubbed his thumb on her cheek.

"You've never failed to amaze me, Annabelle," he said before covering her with the duvet and walking into the bathroom.

While he was in the bathroom, Annabelle had woken up and walked towards the window, leaning on it and staring outside.

It was still early in the morning, and the sky wasn't clear, but she could hear birds singing from afar.

She had so many things in mind to do, but the sudden fear that overwhelmed her wouldn't let her.

When watching the rogue from Alvin's back, she had the urge to request for buckets of water and pour on the girl, not as an evil revenge, but a good one.

The water she had poured on her gave her a little relief when she was dying out of the pain of the marking, and she wanted to do the same for her since she was also in pain, but she couldn't. She also wanted to have a word with her, and list out the names of her group to make it obvious that she knew them, but she couldn't. She wanted to book a fight with her, so that when she returns to her human world, she would fight with them, and while they'll be with daggers, she'll be with an ax.

She wondered what had happened to her and all those people that were screaming in agony.

Where they humans or werewolves she couldn't decipher.

And besides, why would Alvin tell her to target her arrow at the girl.

The worst of all was that she shot a man's groin.

She couldn't imagine the pain he was going through. But she refused to care; he was also a werewolf.

She got startled when she felt someone hug her from behind.

Turning to see who had hugged her, she saw Alvin holding her by her waist, and he pulled her closer to himself, her body pressed against his, while sparks began generating.

He was shirtless, his perfect abs on display, and any woman could die for it. His long glowing golden hair completed his demigod looks, he only had his pants on as he also stared outside the window.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked, tangling his fingers in her raven dark hair that cascaded down her back.

"That girl…..who is she?" she asked, leaning properly on the window frame, and tilted her head to him, looking up at his beautiful blue eyes.

"She is a rogue wolf," he replied, continuing to tangle her hair with his fingers.

"What is a rogue wolf?"

"She isn't part of my pack. She doesn't have a legal pack."

"What did you do to her?"

"I sent her back to where she came from."

She sighed in relief. She was so scared for the girl when those hefty soldiers were about stripping her naked, that would be humiliation.

"What about those people who were screaming excruciatingly? Why did you cover my eyes?"

She wasn't comfortable with everything she saw in the dungeon; they all looked dreadful.

"They're prisoners. Why? Are you worried?" he asked, and she nodded gradually.

"Are they....." she was about to ask but changed her mind.

"Are they what?"

"Never mind," she said and shook her head, turning away from him.

"They are not humans, Annabelle. Humans are too weak to be given such punishments."

He already knew what she wanted to ask even before she could ask.

"Okay, what about that soldier or a gamma?"

"What soldier?" he asked, pretending not to know what she was talking about.

"The one who was working with your Beta."

"There were two of them, so which of them are you talking about?"

"The one that I… the… the one that the arrow...."

She couldn't say it; she felt too embarrassed to say it in front of him, and she could only scratch her hair.

"The arrow shot his what?" he asked, wanting her to say it.

She was too innocent, or would he say she was shy, and it wasn't helping.

"It shot his..."

She opened her mouth but closed it back, while the night breeze ruffled her hair.

"I'm not saying it."

"Just say it. It isn't difficult."

"Why do you want me to say it, huh?"

"Because you are so innocent."

"I'm not innocent. I do fight in school and quarrel with my dad, though I still love him," she said, which made him stare blankly at her.

"I'm not surprised. You remember when I told you that you're so immature to the extent that your senses of understanding are premature?" he asked, porking her head with his fingers, which made her glare at him.
