Chapter 36 - A Deal With Myself

"Ah, I was just wondering how old Jack is... No no no, I mean I came here to tell him that my father wants him to join the other teams. He didn't like the fact that Jack managed to drag me into something very dangerous."

Larcen looked at her while Anna walked back to the bed. Before he could say something though, she continued.

"Well, I told him that it was me who agreed and stuff but he didn't listen to me. As for the training you want, he said that you don't need it. Um, he also wants to make a deal with you since he wants the Hollow Points and Anna doesn't have them."

"No. He doesn't want to teach me and yet he wants to buy bullets from me? Is he delusional?", he asked mockingly, which seemed to have ticked her off a little.

"Listen, I told you already that you are pretty good at close combat with and without your skill. Teaching you something new right now will interfere with your decisions during crucial situations when you are in the middle of a fight. You are strong and he doesn't want you to die like an idiot."

Larcen yawned before looking at her, "Well, just buy stuff from Anna before you come to me. Since he has his conditions, here are mine. One, buy all the bullets that Anna has. Two, both of you must work under me from now on until we get to the military camp. As for the third... hmm, yeah two should be enough."

Betty looked at him, seemingly contemplating the offer while Anna walked back and slid into the blankets and then into Larcen's arms. A few moments later, Betty nodded.

"Fine, I'll talk to my father about this. I'll get him to accept it but this deal is a bit unfair to us so I would like to add another clause."

"Go on."

"I want you to infiltrate the bunker before the guys from the camp get here. My father put in a lot of his money on the bunker, only to have it stolen by some idiot who can't even hold a firearm properly. The guy in there must be killed or driven away so we can use the place like we wanted to."

Larcen already had plans on the bunker and Betty just made it a little easy for him as he could just blame them for the contract.

"Sure.", he said as he smirked.

"But I won't be doing it right now. I will only do it once all the ammo here has been used up."

Betty nodded but clicked her tongue before walking out of the room. He knew that the bunker would have a lot of ammo stored in it along with a lot of food and once the father and daughter had access to them, they wouldn't have to buy from him or Anna for weeks or even months.

While he didn't really care about such measly profits anymore, he still wanted Anna to make some profit as he somehow developed a soft corner for her. While he didn't trust her enough to give her SP directly, he didn't mind helping her make money through other means.

He let out a long sigh before checking the status screen in front of him. The SP had grown up to reach the four digits and it made him happy but the urge to spend it all had also hit him. Glancing at the clock that showed 6:23, he began to calculate which things he had to buy for the most efficient purchase.

'First is the automatic function.... 1000 SP on the first payment but I also have to pay 10SP every day to keep it active. Then the inventory slots... if my guess is right, the next ten should cost 10 SP each, and the ten after that should cost 100 each. That would make a total of 1100. Lastly, the replication slots,

The first one cost me 100 and the second one is 200. Basically, it increases by 100 after every consequent purchase. I got one slot for free before so I cannot predict how it will affect me.'

{Successfully purchased Auto Merchant -1000 SP}

{Successfully purchased Inventory Slot x20 -1100 SP}

{Successfully purchased Replication Slot x7 -3500 SP}

Larcen looked at SP remaining which showed 880 and it was 20 points lesser than what he needed to buy the twentieth replication slot but he didn't mind it as he felt like he had more than enough slots for now.

'I might need it in the future but for now, I shouldn't have to worry about it but instead, I need ways to get stronger or at least increase my combat power. A better weapon would do great and even skills could help out if I got a good one.

If only more people could buy the skill but at least this gives me an estimate of how many people are capable of fighting for now. I need to do something to increase the number of people who are capable of fighting or defending themselves.'

His eyes went to the only pistol he had but he felt a little reluctant to sell them at the moment as he did not want anyone to connect it to him and a lot of people already knew that he used that specific gun.

'I could play it off like I have no idea about it or.... use my real name to divert attention but this has its own drawbacks and risks. I guess I will have to take a small risk for now... A few more weeks and I should be relatively safer than now.', He thought as he turned to look at Anna.

"Hey Anna, I have a friend who is one of those authorized merchants. He asked me for this pistol yesterday and I gave it to him for a few SPs. No, don't look at me like that. He returned it to me and with it, he also told me that he owns a factory. He didn't mention the location but he told me that he will be mass producing this pistol soon."

"Hmm, tell him to give you a share of his profits since you were the one who gave him a weapon to study.", she said, deep in thought but Larcen shook his head.

"I made a better deal with him.", he said slowly, pushing his brain to work harder.
