Realizing the situation, they quickly let go of each other's hair which had now turned messy. Both their cheeks were red from embarrassment.
Eloise cleared her throat and proceeded to arrange her hair that Leah messed with while giving Leah a side glare. At this point, Eloise knew Leah would be the death of her someday.
But as for Leah, she quickly picked up the nylon of groceries that had fallen off her hand when she tried to pull Eloise's hair. She then looked around for her soda bottle only to realize she had thrown it away while she was engaged in her little marathon race with Eloise.
She too cleared her throat to ease the awkwardness in the air but it still felt suffocating.
Eloise prayed deep in her mind that the elevator would quickly open and her prayer was answered because soon after, the elevator made a sound indicating it had gotten to their destination and they wasted no time to run out of it.
They got to their room door and Eloise being the first person to arrive went on to input their door password.
And while that was ongoing, they also noticed the guy from the elevator was also trying to input the password to the door next to theirs.
It was a surprise to them because they had never seen someone like him around here, to think he lived next door.
Eloise succeeded in opening the door and they stepped in.
However, they both had a different plan. The moment they stepped right into their apartment, they closed the door a bit and decided to peek at the strange guy through the door.
They watched as he unlocked the door and one could see the curiosities in their eyes as they concentrated on him.
Eloise and Leah were so immersed in staring at the strange guy that they were late to notice the guy had turned and stared back at them after his door had unlocked.
Immediately they noticed, they went back inside and shut the door as quickly as possible. Seeing the two ladies had gone into their apartment, the guy sighed and went into his and shut the door right after.
"Did you see that? He noticed us." Leah gasped as she whispered to Eloise. But that was not what was bothering Eloise.
"I thought a lady lived there, did she already move out?" Eloise asked, her hands on her chin as she thought deeply about what might be the right theory.
"He could be her son, we can't tell." Leah shrugged but Eloise was not convinced.
"She's way too young to give birth to someone like him."
"But why does that matter? It's none of our business who lives there." Leah pointed out.
"You can't tell, he might be a bad guy who..."
"Yo, I don't care. And don't forget you are the one to make us breakfast. Plus, he looks too calm to be a bad guy, he looks like someone who wants peace and no drama in his life." Leah said and quickly shoved the nylon bags at Eloise and walked into the bedroom.
'I'm still not convinced though.' Eloise thought in her head and followed Leah into the bedroom.
"Ahhh, the house is so clean and refreshing." Leah moaned as she threw herself on the bed and rolled on it.
"Yeah, God must have sent his angels to clean this house," Eloise stated while rolling her eyes upwards.
Leah smiled and looked up at Eloise, "For real? That's so cool." But Eloise ignored her, she dropped her phone on the bedside table and went in the direction of the kitchen.
Leah's smile graduated to a loud laugh as she enjoyed provoking Eloise.
Minutes went by with Eloise still making breakfast. Leah who was still lying on the bed heard the vibrating sound of a phone, it was Eloise's phone. Someone was calling Eloise, but who was it?
Leah checked and noticed it was an unknown number, "Eloise? Someone's calling you on the phone!" She called out and received no response from Eloise.
Leah then decided to pick up the call herself, "Hello?" She said but the other end was silent for a moment before the person spoke.
"Hi, pass the phone to Eloise." It seems the person had realized she wasn't Eloise but why was the voice somewhat familiar? It was a female's voice and Leah could swear she'd heard that voice from somewhere.
"Hello? Give the phone to Eloise since it's not yours." The person spoke up again and Leah was taken aback by how sassy and commanding the person was.
'At least use polite words. We aren't ordering anybody here, are we?' Leah thought in her head and couldn't fight the urge to roll her eyes.
"I'm sorry but Eloise isn't here right now, maybe next time." Or never. Leah was ready to hang up when the person spoke up again.
"Hold on, I'm sure you might know me." The person sounded more polite and soft than earlier, taking Leah by surprise.
"How can I know when I can't see you?" She asked, not seeing a single reason why she should be nice.
"Haha, we met yesterday at the bar, I'm Ruth, Ruth Mayer." The person introduced and that was when it began to click in Leah's head.
"I'm sorry for sounding rude earlier, it's just that I thought you were one of Eloise's maids, considering she used to be a rich actress who had..."
"How can I help you though?" Leah cut right through her sentence, feeling impatient and angry at this red-haired lady. Of course, she remembered the red-haired lady who had tried to befriend Eloise yesterday at the bar.
"I'd like to invite Eloise to a party tonight. Many actresses and actors would be invited, I thought of inviting her even though she's no longer an actress." Ruth explained, leaving Leah deep in thought.
"Uhh, hold on, I'll just look for Eloise, only she can decide for herself," Leah said and left the room in search of Eloise, she found her in the kitchen still cooking.
"Eloise? You have a call." She informed, catching Eloise's attention.
"Who?" Eloise asked and took the phone from Leah after taking off her gloves.
"Hello?" She spoke and was met with silence that only lasted for a few seconds before hearing the most annoying voice ever.
"Eloise? Hi. Look, I know you are still mad and I'd like to apologize by inviting you to a party, let's catch up tonight."
"But I never said I'd like to attend any party you invite me to." At this point, Eloise was seething with rage and wishing she could rip Ruth's hair out.
"I see you hold so much grudges," Ruth replied, leaving Eloise in disbelief.
"Grudges? Do you know what you've caused me? It's more than just grudges and..."
"I did not call only to hear you talk crap. This is not the time for this. If you are a coward and a loser, then don't come, I'm not forcing you either. Also, I sent you a package, it's a gown for you to wear. Knowing how wretched you are now, I'm sure you can't afford a proper gown and the last thing I want is for you to disgrace me. But if you won't come, you can keep the gown."
"What?! Hold on with this bullshit! You sent me a package? But how did you even know my house address?" Eloise asked, however, the call had already ended.
"What was she talking about?" Leah asked seeing the distress and anger on Eloise's face.
Ding Dong! it was the doorbell.
