Chapter 10 - Meeting Each Other.

A few hours had already clocked by since Leah and Eloise received the package from Ruth.

However, next door, where the guy in a baseball cap had walked into, soft music played in the apartment while a man in a grey suit stood before a full-length mirror adjusting his black tie.

His dark midnight hair was neatly combed and gelled to the back. He stared at his reflection as his slender long fingers played around his tie.

His face is an epitome of beauty with a mix of devilish charm. A sight to behold, his handsome features were perfect and on a great scale.

A perfectly pointy nose, thin lips and ice-grey eyes were a rare sight, they complimented his grey suit. They were so icy that the mirror would have melted from his piercing gaze if it were to be a living thing.

Suddenly a frown graced his forehead, showing he was deep in thought. His lips pursed as he hummed questioningly while tilting his head as if asking the mirror a silent question.

Suddenly he pointed at his reflection and began, "I can clearly see I'm handsome, right? I look just perfect, right?"

He asked and paused as if waiting for a response from the mirror. Enoch had now graduated from the cold quiet guy in a baseball cap to a troubled handsome fella seeking answers from his magic mirror.

The poor mirror.

"Then why am I constantly getting rejected? I'm so perfect, I have everything there is in this world, why?"

He frowned even deeper, feeling nothing but anger in his bones and blood. His mind goes to the series of rejections he had received from Fiona.

"How could she? We are clearly made for each other, she's the Cinderella and I'm her prince charming, so why?..."

RING *RING

His phone suddenly vibrated, interrupting his time with his magic mirror on the wall.

"Who now?" He asked while sighing after a low hiss.

Enoch left the mirror and walked towards his phone resting on his bedside table.

The bedroom was a bland-looking one, with dull and neutral colours. Just the typical grey, black and white. But one could easily notice the series of photos hanging on the wall.

These were all photos of him on different occasions with different expressions, each one of them having their own wonderful stories behind their existence.

Enoch picked up his phone and saw it was his assistant, the guy from earlier. He answered the call and placed the phone on his ears.

"Sir, I'm waiting at the parking lot. We only have a few minutes left before we leave." Mark, Enoch's assistant explained.

"Mark, do you think it's right for anyone to reject someone like me? Not just once but several times!" Enoch complained, disregarding what Mark had said.

A confused Mark blinked three times to be sure he heard right. But why was this not surprising to him? Enoch was the most complicated human Mark had ever seen.

"You know what? Never mind, I'll be down in a minute." Enoch ended the call and placed the phone into his breast pocket.

He looked at his reflection one last time before proceeding to step out of his apartment.

Meanwhile next door, after so much effort in dolling Eloise up, they finally achieved the look they so wanted.

The purple lacey dress was stunning, with intricate lace patterns and a high neckline. Eloise wore a matching satin belt, strappy lace heels, and a teardrop amethyst pendant necklace, creating an elegant and enchanting look.

"Oh my gosh girl! You look so stunning and dazzling, I could go blind from staring too much!" Leah gasped exaggeratedly, causing Eloise who stood before a mirror to roll her eyes upwards.

"It says 3 pm right?" Eloise asked after taking a heavy deep breath.

"Huh?" Leah questioned back in response, seeming like she didn't understand Eloise's question.

Eloise sighed and said, "The party starts at 3 pm according to Ruth, right?!"

"Oh, yes! And it's almost 3, we should get you going." One could easily tell Leah was more excited than Eloise.

If given a choice, Eloise would have preferred not to go. She just knew that it was never good news if Ruth was involved.

However, what's the harm in trying? She could get lucky this time and somehow meet someone who would notice her for her talent and give her a movie role and...

"Jeez! Eloise, get a grip." She exhaled loudly with a deep frown, not liking her line of thought.

Eloise hated the fact that she still had little hope that things might change from today. But she knew it, it was just her delusions and her hunger for redemption in the industry which can never happen.

"I will be giving you a ride," Leah suggested with a bright smile, perhaps brighter than their future.

"A ride? How... don't tell me you are referring to that dead Elizabeth car of yours? No, I'm fine. I'll just take a taxi."

"No! I'm your driver for today and that's final. You can go wait for me in the parking lot, I'll quickly change and come down as fast as possible." Leah said and was already pushing Eloise towards the door.

An already exhausted Eloise lacked the energy to argue with Leah, she just let her do whatever she pleases.

With one last push, Eloise now stood before the door, she turned to look at Leah who smiled at her but that smile only made her even more exhausted.

She sighed and opened the door and stepped out.

On stepping out, Eloise noticed a figure walking out the door of their next-door neighbour.

She stopped to stare as he locked his door and turned, ready to walk out when he also noticed Eloise.

They both stood staring at each other, few seconds later, they seemed like they recognized each other judging from the change in their expressions.

'The suspicious guy from earlier?'

'The weird lady from earlier?'
