Chapter 12 - Embarrassed. 2.

"How would you know that though?" It was Leah who asked out of the blue. She stood beside Eloise as it seemed she had just gotten here and only heard little of Eloise and Enoch's conversation.

The heat on Eloise's cheek increased so hard from embarrassment that she felt like punching Leah in the face.

With her thoughts running a thousand miles per second, looking for a way to escape this awkwardness caused by herself, Ruth and partially Leah.

She turned to look at Leah and forced a smile followed by a nervous laugh before saying, "Leah! You are here already? C'mon, let's quickly leave, we don't want to be late."

She grabbed Leah by her wrist and quickly walked away from Enoch's car and walked to where Leah's car was. And Eloise hated that Leah's car was parked next to Enoch's.

"Yo, is something wrong? You look like you..." Leah was asking out of concern only for Eloise to interject right before she could finish speaking.

"No, everything is fine, I'm fine but it would be even more fine if you'd just start this car and get us out of here." Eloise immediately entered the car and as confused as Leah was, she had no other option but to follow Eloise's words, they would need to leave immediately anyway.

However, it seems Elizabeth had a different plan because the car started acting up as usual.

It refused to start and whenever the engine was reeled to life, it would only make loud noise and create thick smoke only for it to stop.

'This is so embarrassing.' Eloise thought. In her whole life, she had never felt this amount of embarrassment, this was too much to take.

She looked out through the window and noticed the car was still there, that meant Enoch had not left, he was still there and he would have probably noticed how Leah's car was acting up.

"Damn, what is it this time? Why is it not moving? We might be late?" Eloise asked Leah, already feeling impatient. She could see outside was covered in thick smoke.

However, Leah was even more confused by the fact that Eloise was rather impatient and wanted to leave already. This was someone who had no interest in whatever party, someone she had to convince to attend.

"Why are you in a hurry all of a sudden? Just chill, this car will start soon, a little more patience and everything would be fine." Leah reassured, putting more effort into making the car move by starting and stopping it.

Meanwhile, Enoch still stood frozen, trying to understand what the hell just happened.

He kept wondering why Eloise would say he was entering the wrong car. What made her say something like that? What does she know about him?

He turned and looked at the old car she'd entered when he noticed the situation.

'Cars like this should be scrapped, why is she still using it?' He wondered to himself, still finding her to be a confusing and annoying woman.

By this time, the thick smoke from their car had already reached where he and Mark were standing.

Mark who had been standing by the door and was holding it for Enoch was already feeling exhausted and seeing the smoke, he felt this was a great opportunity to make Enoch enter the car so they could leave already.

"Sir, I think this smoke is quite unhealthy for you, please get into the car and let's..."

"Hey... what's the rush? There's no rush, hmmm?" He waved at Mark and instead of listening, he placed his hands on his waist and kept staring at the red old car in interest.

Meanwhile, Eloise was beginning to feel sweaty from bottling up her embarrassment and staying inside the hot car that had no air in it.

'Why is this damn car not moving?" She thought while also thinking of a way to step out of the car to take in fresh air without making it obvious and a thought crossed her mind.

Eloise opened the car door, stepped out and said in a loud voice to make sure the other men heard it, "Leah? Why would you do a car exchange with that friend of yours? Now look at the kind of car she gave you, it's a dead car. Our car is way better than this trash."

Eloise looked down at Leah who sat in the driver's seat, still trying to start the car.

Leah paused for a moment when she realized Eloise was saying strange words that made no sense.

She brought her head out the car's window and asked, "What are you talking about, Eloise? This is not a...hmmm!"

Eloise quickly held her mouth, stopping her from saying what she had to say.

"What do you mean? Quickly start the car or else I'll be late." She said to Leah who was still mumbling words because Eloise still held her mouth together.

But as soon as Eloise heard the sound of a car door, she turned to where Enoch's car was parked and saw the car was driving off.

'Phew, what a relief.' She thought and quickly let go of Leah's mouth.

"Are you crazy? What was all that for? And what do you mean by a friend's car? And did you call my Elizabeth trash? How dare you?" Leah ranted, feeling more pissed than ever. Her poor Elizabeth was being attacked by her crazy-ass best friend, how could she not be mad?

"I'm so sorry Leah, just start the car and let's leave." Eloise pleaded with a smile.

"You really are crazy." Leah sighed but it was evident she was still mad.

Eloise only smiled and was happy she escaped another series of embarrassment. But what Eloise didn't know was that there was something more waiting for her.
