Chapter 12 - 12. Drama Queen

Eric snorted in annoyance but didn't say anything. Even though it was very annoying, he could understand why Hana kept complaining.

They often ran away from the nanny. But they never stayed in one place. Both of them kept moving to avoid being caught, although Natalie always managed to find them in the end.

Eric understood that Hana was the type of child who could not stay still for too long. But she was the one who came up with the idea, so she had to be responsible.

He didn't mind sitting quietly like this. It was a peaceful time for him.

After successfully calming down, Arion looked confused at the twins, 'By the way, why are they here? Shouldn't they be with the nanny? Taking a nap or something?'

If his memory was correct, the palaces in the comics were always very big and wide. Not to mention the matter of the assassin that Doctor Chris had mentioned.

He couldn't help but worry about the twins wandering around with no one to accompany them. What if the assassin really was in this palace? Surely these children would not be safe walking around alone.

'Besides, how could they have escaped the nanny's supervision and come here? What about the knights guarding them?'

But since they were fine, maybe he was just overthinking things. It was possible that the assassin problem didn't really exist. If it did, there was no way the king would do nothing. After all, the twins were his children, his successors.

Hana hugged her twin brother's waist with a long groan, "Brother, are we really staying here? Soon we'll be caught."

Eric sighed resignedly and ruffled her hair, "Don't move much, and lower your voice. What else can we do? Our goal is to see Arion, not to play around as usual."

Hana let out a resigned sigh, "We'll get into trouble."

"When are we not?" That statement made her chuckle. Eric's blunt words sometimes hurt people.

But Hana always found them funny, except when they were directed at her. At that moment, her twin brother was even more annoying than usual.

Arion stared at the twins in disbelief, 'So they ran away from the nanny a lot? And this time was no different from their previous actions? No wonder they're so good at sneaking around.'

He could already imagine the chaos they had caused. Surely the twins had given everyone a heart attack. Arion could only hope that he wouldn't be their target in the future.

'If that happens, it's the same as them giving me a ticket to die again. Just thinking about it brings back bad old memories.' Arion thought as he felt himself shudder with horror.

It seemed that the effect of the twins' chaos was so strong that even he, who only heard it, felt goosebumps of horror.

Hana let go of Eric's waist and lay down on her back. She sighed boredly for the umpteenth time, "This is indeed a pleasant habit, except for the punishment part."

A small frown appeared on Eric's lips at that reminder, "We can only hope for Mom's mercy."

"Oh? Mercy for what?"

Eric and Hana turned their heads quickly. Natalie watched the twins with an amused smile, not seeming surprised by their presence.

All the tiredness on her face had vanished as if it had never existed. The look on her face brightened as she was amused by the twins' usual amusement.

Arion sighed, 'Judging by her expression, she's used to the twins' antics. So my worries were completely useless.'

"Mom!" The two exclaimed nervously. They were too deep in conversation to notice. Even Hana had unconsciously sat upright next to Eric, who was just as stiff as she was.

Natalie looked at the twins with amusement, "Hi dear. Why are you guys here?"

"We missed Arion!" Hana replied with a cheerful smile to hide her nervousness. She had thought of a thousand reasons to trick her mother.

First of all, don't let her mother know what's really going on!

"Really? That's so sweet!" Natalie said with a soft smile that gave them both a feeling of relief that only lasted a few seconds.

"Does your nanny know?"

Immediately the smile on Hana's lips stiffened. All the plans she had thought of crumbled in an instant. Eric looked away, not daring to look at his mother.

Arion looked at the three of them in turn, 'This is getting exciting.'

Natalie sighed resignedly, "You guys never get tired, do you?"

The escape of the twins had become normal. Usually, their escapes were thwarted because Natalie always checked on them periodically while doing her duties as queen or helping her husband with his work.

But since she had to rest a lot and take care of Arion, she hadn't scheduled any more time to check on them. She admitted that she was feeling more tired than usual.

At first, Arsen offered to do it and use it as rest time. But with his duties piling up, it didn't seem like it would be that easy.

"Please, Mom?" They both looked at her with sparkling, pleading eyes that most people would find hard to refuse. Others would melt in seconds.

But Natalie, who was used to this, would not melt so easily. Although right now she was restraining herself from squealing with delight at the twins' cuteness.

Natalie cleared her throat to regain her composure, "I understand if you're bored. But you shouldn't keep running away and making your nanny worry all the time. It's not good."

The twins looked down in shame, "Sorry, Mom."

They both realized that they were always a nuisance to the nannies and knights who guarded them. But they had a reason!

"It's not just Mom who has to accept the apology." She said softly, unable to bear to see the twins' sad expressions, but still trying to be firm with them. She didn't want her children to become arrogant and arbitrary in the future.

"We will also apologize to the nanny." The two of them said, feeling guilty. They had caused too much trouble. Maybe it's time to apologize properly.

Natalie raised her eyebrows, eagerly teased the twins, "And?"

Eric and Hana looked at each other and grimaced nervously, "And Dad..."

Arion looked pitifully at the twins, 'They're bound to get into trouble. I hope they will not be punished.'

She noticed their nervousness and decided to tease them, "Daddy must be very busy. His work piled up very high until now. He must have received news about you by now and left his work again." She said dramatically and sadly, which of course she faked well.

Arion sighed, 'Turns out my new Mom is a drama queen.'

Natalie looked at the twins' expressions and almost laughed out loud. The nervous expressions on their faces looked twice as bad. Sweat was even visible on their foreheads.

Eric and Hana looked at each other and nodded firmly to their mother, "We'll apologize to Dad too."

"And we'll help with Daddy's work!" Hana continued enthusiastically, although she wasn't sure if she could help.

Eric seemed to realize this and looked at her strangely, unsure of the idea. He didn't want to ruin his father's work. No, thank you.

Natalie clapped her hands proudly, "Well done. Mommy is sure that Daddy is on his way here right now."

The twins looked at her in disbelief, "How does Mom know?"

Arion also looked at her in confusion, 'They're right, how did you know?'

"Instinct." The answer was simple. Her hunch told her that Arsen must be arguing with his right-hand man right now to go looking for the twins, which was only half the real reason.

He must have wanted to escape the pile of paperwork and hand it over to his assistant, who must have wanted to curse at his king. The thought made her stifle a giggle, wanting to see it for herself.

"Ugh…"

Both groaned lethargically as they lay beside Arion, who stared at the twins. He tried to hold back something that was about to escape from his trembling lips.

'I can't stand it anymore!'

A small giggle escaped his lips as he patted the hair of the one closest to his hand, who happened to be his older brother. Eric stared at his baby brother in shock while Hana whined about how unfair it was.

"Arion is laughing," Eric said in amazement, overwhelmed by the short pat of Arion's small hand on his head and the sound of his playful laughter.

Hana pouted, "I want it too..."

She was jealous when her baby brother patted her twin brother's hair. She wanted to be patted like that too!

Natalie held back her squeals as she looked at the cute scene in front of her. Her heart couldn't hold it!

"My babies are so cute!"

Natalie exhaled and tried to calm down. She got up from her lying position and patted the twins' heads gently.

"How about you play with Arion here while you wait for Daddy to come?" She suggested with a gentle smile as she held Arion up to face his older siblings.

The twins' eyes sparkle brightly, "Yes!"
