Chapter 14 - 14. Quiet Baby

"I can't take it anymore!"

Natalie whispered before the sound of laughter filled the room. She couldn't hold back her laughter anymore at the sight of the twins' suffering and her husband's confusion. This is too funny!

The other four people in the room looked at Natalie at the same time. Arsen looked at his wife in confusion, not understanding why she was laughing.

Eric and Hana looked at their mother in exasperation. They can guess why she is laughing. Arion looked at his mother in shock, somewhat surprised by the sound of his loud laughter.

Arion grimaced, 'I thought since she's a queen, she would behave more gracefully. Whether there were other people around or not. But she didn't refrain from laughing so loudly.'

But seeing how Natalie had behaved before, he shouldn't have been too surprised. She was not shy about being carefree in public, interacting closely with doctors, and laughing freely at other servants.

Arion could not help but comment, 'What a unique queen.'

"Mom!" The twins protested in exasperation. They suspected that their mother had known about their suffering, judging by her laughter.

Natalie wiped away tears from laughing too hard, "Oh, dear. Mom is sorry. That was too funny." She said embarrassed, but still heard a small giggle that she tried to hide, which made the twins even more annoyed.

Feeling the atmosphere change, Arsen could only snort amusedly, "Why didn't you ever tell me?"

Hana pouted, "Although they are annoying, they are not evil." She answered softly but honestly.

She didn't want her father to misunderstand and punish the nannies. Hana just wanted them to stop tormenting her soul and her cheeks.

Eric snorted in annoyance, "They're not sycophants like most of the other nobles." He whispered. Although it didn't sound good, what he said was honest.

Arsen raised his eyebrows at the insult, but did not reprimand him, which made Eric feel relieved for a moment. After all, what his son had said was true and he was proud of it.

"Language, Eric." Natalie reprimanded her son sternly. She frowned, displeased with Eric's words.

Even if she agreed with what Eric said, that didn't mean she would let her young son insult others like that. A child should not use such harsh words.

Arion looked at his older brother in awe, amazed at his courage, 'He's too brave to say that bluntly. That's cool.'

To be honest, Arion was a little jealous of him for daring to say out loud what he was thinking. Not like himself.

Eric grumbled at his mother's rebuke, but he still muttered an apology, even though he did not regret his words. After all, he knew that his mother would agree with his words, just like his father.

Hana looked at her father in frustration, "But we can't take it anymore!" She whined in frustration. Eric nodded in agreement. They had held it in for a long time until their frustration exploded at this moment.

Arsen felt sorry for them and gently patted their heads. Their faces began to turn red until he was afraid they would start to cry.

"What about you, Natalie? Do you have anything to say?" Arsen asked as he looked at Natalie, who giggled in embarrassment. He had a feeling she knew what was going on.

Natalie looked away from Arsen and said nervously, "Well, I caught them doing it a couple of times. But I already reprimanded them!"

Arion gave his mother a flat look, 'Seriously? Just reprimanded? No wonder they still do it.'

Arsen looked at her unimpressed. He shouldn't be surprised if his wife already knew. After all, she is the one who has been looking after the twins the most. It wouldn't be surprising if she found out first.

Natalie pouted, feeling betrayed that her husband didn't believe her, "I'm serious! I've even asked Aunt Nova to keep an eye on them so they won't do it again!"

Now that she thought about it, she should have punished them, not just reprimanded them and asked Nova to keep an eye on them. After all, Nova had another job as a head servant.

Natalie felt guilty about the twins. Just because the scene was funny, she had forgotten to do something she should have done in the first place. She cursed herself.

Arion thought confused, 'Aunt Nova? Wasn't Nova the maid who bathed me and prepared the milk bottle for me?'

He still remembered the maid who had kind eyes and a smile for him. Hearing Natalie call her aunt made him think of the doctor he had met earlier.

'Does she call everyone by a familiar title? Is that even allowed? I thought a queen had to be strict.' He thought cluelessly.

Arsen sighed resignedly, "Okay, fine. Dad will think of something about this."

Natalie also added confidently, "Mom will also reprimand them again! And this time Mom's reprimand will be harsher!"

Suddenly, Arsen looked at the twins seriously until they unconsciously stood up straighter, "But! You have to promise not to run away again, especially without a knight or an adult. Understood?"

Hana blinked uncomprehendingly. She nudged Eric to give her a hint, but he had only a blank face, obviously unimpressed by Arsen's statement.

Arion grimaced inwardly, 'If they're running away with someone, that's not running away.'

And looking at the twins' faces, they must have had the same thoughts as him. Whether Arsen said it on purpose or not.

Fortunately, Natalie expressed the same thought with an amused smile, "If they run away with someone, that's not running away."

Arsen ignored his wife's teasing as he focused on looking at the twins, "Promise?"

The two looked at each other before nodding firmly to their father, "We promise!"

Before Arsen could breathe a sigh of relief, Hana added her words, "If Daddy does something about the nannies, we'll consider shortening our escape!"

Silence returned with her words. Natalie covered her mouth to hide the laughter that threatened to escape. Arion grimaced in horror as he looked at the little girl in disbelief.

'This little girl does not have any fear.'

Arsen looked at them blankly, "...You just promised to bring knights."

"And that too!" Hana said confidently. There was no trace of the guilt and shame from a few minutes ago. She was back to her cheerful and brave self.

Eric nodded firmly, supporting his twin sister's statement. The two are too good at negotiating to make Natalie proud.

Arsen sighed resignedly, massaging his dizzy forehead, "All right, I understand. I'll get it done soon."

Arion gave him a pitiful look, 'Looks like he's completely given up.'

Hana cheered happily and Eric smiled proudly. Hana hugged her father tightly as Eric patted his father's shoulder, encouraging him.

Arsen shook his head in amusement. He lifted them up so they could join Natalie and Arion on the bed.

As he held the two on his lap, he realized something, "Did you guys wake up your mother and brother?"

Hana immediately protested, "Mom just woke up! We didn't disturb her!"

Arsen gave her an amused look, "And Arion?"

Hana couldn't answer him and slowly looked away nervously. She glanced at her big brother for help. But unfortunately for her, Eric didn't even bother to look back at her, which annoyed her.

She admitted that it was her fault from the beginning, so it wasn't surprising that her twin brother didn't want to help her. But weren't they supposed to be allies now? How dare he betray her trust!

Hana swallowed nervously, "...Unintentionally? She answered hesitantly.

Arsen looked at her intently, which made her laugh nervously. Eric pretended not to notice his little sister's distress and didn't look at her at all.

Arsen shook his head resignedly and punished her by lightly pinching his daughter's cheeks. Eric nodded in satisfaction at his father's choice of punishment.

Arsen looked at Arion who was watching the three of them in confusion. He didn't even cry because of the fuss they made.

"Hello, Arion. Sorry, they disturbed your sleep." His greeting was soft as he gently rubbed Arion's cheek. Feeling the soft and chubby cheeks of his son made everyone want to bite them.

Arion just watched his father in silence. Remembering his father's anger a moment ago, Arion couldn't help but think strangely.

'He looks like a different person.'

Arsen looked curiously at his youngest son, "He's very quiet baby."

Honestly, he had never seen such a calm baby. Even during the commotion they made, Arion didn't cry or whine at all.

"Arion is indeed very calm. Very different from his big brother and big sister when they were babies." She teased the twins who looked at her in surprise.

Hana looked at her mother curiously, "Were we noisy babies?"

Natalie smiled gently, "The noisiest and sweetest babies in the world."

As a baby, Hana was the most chatty baby she had ever seen. Even if Eric was now a quiet boy like his father, as a baby he was a talkative baby.

Whether they realized it or not, they were always looking for each other and it was hard to be separated for too long.

She doesn't know if it's a twin connection or not, but it's one of the sweetest memories of the twins' childhood.
