Chapter 23 -  - Golden Manor - II

"Do you know why?"

"Do you know why there are always so many legends about treasure?"

"Have you ever wondered, if there were no more legends, what should those who succeeded use to set off their successes and get lucky? And what about those who failed, what excuse should they find to cover up their failures?"

"Come with me if you want to get rich!"

"Don't be trifling mothers-in-law, if you can find the treasure, you can be part of the legend."

The man with the eight-beard finished his sentence and left in style with his jacket thrown over his shoulder.

The few people who stayed in place looked at each other, but in the end, they couldn't hold back the temptation of the treasure and quickly followed.

Eleazar watched this in silence when a few people came up behind him.

"Hi there."

It was the two young men and women standing on the edge, looking a little older than themselves, who looked very well equipped in their abrasion-resistant and conspicuously easy-to-rescue hiking clothes, with backpacks and water bottles on their backs.

Compared to the well-prepared family, he and Fina looked almost as if they were out for an outing.

Through conversation, we learned that they were paranormal enthusiasts who had made the trip because they had heard rumors that the place was haunted.

This behavior looked no different than a death wish to Eleazar, who knew the mystery.

The trenchcoat man at the side also advised, "Young people, listen to my advice, don't pursue this kind of excitement anymore, in case you encounter that kind of thing... You will die without a burial place."

"Che, say it like you've seen it before."

A woman with orange-red hair made a face at him, looking at the crowd that had already moved away in the distance, and hastily nudged her companion at her side.

"They've found their way in yay, let's go too!"

The man in the lead, however, smiled without haste and invited Eleazar and the others, "Want to go in and visit together, it's good to have more people to look after."

And just then, a wah-wah in the graveyard ran toward them.

Eleazar covered his forehead helplessly.

The person who came was none other than Lingyin who was not dead set on coming to be a light bulb.

She somehow managed to find her way through the woods to this place as well.

"Oooooooooh, Fifi, it's so scary in here!"

Fina hugged her with a bit of amusement, patting her back gently and soothingly, "There, there, it's okay."

"A wayward friend?"

The others cast strange glances.

One more person to add to the expedition, still looking like a very timid sort, and it's not going to be a peaceful ride.

They walked halfway along the fence and found the place where the previous digging party had gone.

The so-called entrance was just a half-man-high dog hole under the fence.

The four men in hiking clothes didn't mind, poking through the weeds and bending down to get in.

The trench coat man did likewise.

Eleazar took off his coat and put it on Fina.

She took the timid Lingyin by the hand and crouched down to move in slowly.

Eleazar at the end takes out his pocket watch and checks the time.

3:30 p.m. ...

"As long as we get out before dark, nothing should happen."

After silently contemplating this, he too dipped his head and dug into the manor.

It's a mess inside.

The center fountain was so dry that even the head of the copper pipe that spouted water had been dismantled, the surrounding gardens had been trampled to the ground, and a dried skeleton hung from the trunk of a crooked-necked tree in the courtyard, swaying in the wind.

The original luxurious villa now looks like a rotten building, even the wall bricks have been stripped, and the neighboring side building has also been poisoned, railings, doors, and windows are all gone; the stables are full of extinguished fires, and it looks like the place has been turned into a camping site.

Underfoot was all kinds of abandoned garbage, empty cans, wine bottles, used paper towels, used newspapers, bones...

Eleazar looks around silently and walks over to the crowd.

Everyone is huddled under that skeleton.

A girl in a yellow hiking suit with white latex gloves on her hands was scrutinizing it.

"The bones are thick and heavy, the pelvis is open at the top and narrow at the bottom in a funnel shape, this is the skeleton of a male, about 50 years old, the cause of death was devastating nerve damage caused by a broken vertebrae, the time of death... Unable to tell."

The trenchcoat man's face was stunned, "A medical student?"

"Little Xuan you're awesome!"

The male companion with her was quick to clap and praise.

Fina hugged Lingyin, who had buried her head in her chest, with a look of boredom in her eyes, and

Eleazar looks around, seemingly more interested in the trail of the previous group than this skeleton.

Everyone was excited to visit the courtyard and then walked into the villa.

The floor tiles were all dusty, the expensive red carpet was torn to pieces, and all sorts of miscellaneous items were scattered all over the place.

Right in the center, a heavy lamp stand was buried in the crumbling floor tiles, emptied of all valuable decorations, and they couldn't help but feel their guts roll as they approached and realized that two rotting corpses were still pressed underneath.

In the pit, the two unlucky ones were cut off by the lampstand, their stumps already stinking and covered with dense white eggs. Eleazar covered his nose and tilted his head up to look at the nearly five-meter-high ceiling.

Was it an accident?

The left side of the hall led to the dining room and the music room, while to the right, a cloister-like garden corridor, which also led to the manor's cellar, which was already shaped like hell and sent chills down the spine of all of them.

There were countless wrecks on the floor, the air was putrid, flies hovered like black clouds, black bugs on the floor were like a sea tide, flowers bloomed delicately, and the corridors were littered with traces left over from the killings and scuffles, and dark brown blood stains were smeared randomly.

Even without the spooky legends, this place is already a veritable house of horrors.

"Vomit!"

Lingyin just looked at it and stumbled back down the hall throwing up.

The others were also pale, the torsos in their clothes trembling slightly.

Folding back into the hall a bit stiffly, the group discussed the situation and unanimously decided to avoid the place and check upstairs.

Along the circular staircase, the group walked up to the second floor with somewhat wobbly feet.

It was equally swept clean above, and the walls, where picture frames had been hung, were now nothing but a blank print.

Where there's interest there's going to be competition, and where there's competition, that means there's going to be losers...

Lingyin, who was looking around stiffly, was not paying attention and tripped over something at her feet, nearly falling, and when she steadied herself and dropped her eyes down, she found another corrupt head.

The severed head rolled around on the ground a few times like a leather ball, finally coming to rest against the wall, only a few fat white maggots crawling out desperately as if frightened in their dark, cavernous quiver.

Lingyin's eyes rolled white and his body fell straight back.

Her spirit finally took it to the limit and the power began to cut out.

Eleazar held her up helplessly.

The others were also almost at their limit, no one could keep a normal face except for the mentally tough medical student, it was not true that they were psychic lovers, but they would never love this kind of gory scene.

The man in the lead, his face pale, suggested, "Why don't we just call it a day?"

"Okay, let's go out then."

Without waiting for the others to reply, Eleazar was the first to agree and simply picked the man up on his shoulders, turned, and walked down the stairs.

Seeing that someone had gone first, where could they stay, they all of a sudden followed with their asses in the air, lest they be left behind.

How spirited he was when he came in, and how wretched he is now.

These things... Can be much scarier than ghosts.
