Chapter 15 - Chapter Fifteen

"Care to explain John?" I asked and the man laughed as if my words were insignificant and then walked to the door in an attempt to leave but I blocked his path determined, "You're not leaving this room without giving me a proper explanation, I danced to your tune did I not?"

With this, he smiled, "Even with this information you have what can you do really?" I did not fail to notice the change in his tone of course he'd sound different now, it was not surprising seeing as he already got what he wanted but it didn't matter that I was used we saved Pierce in the long run.

"If you think you can come around to seek my favor however you please only to turn around and discard me like a wet tissue once you're done, then I must have you know that you're dead wrong, I am not as weak as you think." I spat each word with so much venom and annoyance.

John advanced towards me in a very threatening manner, "Again I ask, what can you do?" he was daring me I balled my fists annoyed I wanted to punch the wall I don't remember being this angry in a while this man was testing my patience and I'd hate to show him seeing as he would soon be my father-in-law.

Suddenly an idea hit me and I smirked, "I am the acting president for now am I not?" John paused and then looked at me dangerously, "It's just for the show don't get any ideas it won't work."

I laughed hysterically so loud that boomed it across the room I'm sure the others must have heard outside, "Of course, it's just on paper to you but the shares were bought illegally remember if I choose to keep them to myself tell me what will you do, go to the police?" It was his turn to be enraged now and I enjoyed seeing the look on his face very much.

"Don't try me aurora." He warned.

"Really what will you do?" I laughed, "Send some hit men after me?" it's not like I was not scared it's just that the fear has been clouded with anger, how could someone be so cruel I failed to understand even to their child?

"When doing business sacrifices must be made." He yelled.

"And that sacrifice must not be my fiance's life," I yelled back.

"I am tired of going back and forth with you," he sighed. Same here I stood up, grabbed my bag off the table, and sauntered towards the door, "You have just twenty-four hours John, if you won't take it to the police I will."

John shook his head, "I thought you were a wise woman."

"Oh?" I gasped, "Well I'm about to disappoint you even more." flipping the door open I walked out leaving him there.

I maintained my confident walk for a few more minutes, and when the meeting room was completely out of sight I collapsed to the floor. A few people around gave me weird stares but no one bothered to confront me which I was thankful for.

"Aurora," I heard Jordan say and I looked up at her with tears in my eyes, she didn't ask any questions she simply fell to her knees and embraced me. "I know it must have been hard it's okay," she patted my back as I cried in her arms freely what a humiliating sight to behold.

I didn't bother going home, what's the point Pierce will not be there anyway I considered going to the hospital to check on him or maybe spend the night but any further confrontation with his family member would kill every bit of sanity I had left, I should avoid them. I waited for Jordyn to be done with work and together we went to her place I planned to spend the night and maybe a few more days over Jordyn was my safe comfort now.

"You mean Dante is responsible for the accident?" Jordyn asked with a shocked expression and I nodded. "Yes, he didn't even bother to deny it."

"And you mean Pierce's father wants to cover it up in return for some shares?" She repeated my previous words and I nodded again.

"I don't know what to do Jordyn," I confessed although I acted all tough back there with John, the truth is I was trembling on the inside. And right now I don't know which way to go, the police? Would they even do anything? These are people in power we are dealing with here and I am just a nobody.

"I think you should wait for Pierce to wake up." Jordyn said, "This is too much for you to handle on your own and the risk involved is way too high."

"But it's taking forever, what if the criminal escapes while his unconscious?"

Jordyn's eyes suddenly brightened, "Johanna was in the accident right, so what if you take this to the vice president I mean since Pierce's father wants to bury it and we can't go against him with the little power we have, we'll just have to pass the baton to someone more powerful than him I don't think the vice president will excuse someone intentionally trying to harm his daughter although she was not the target she was still affected, how about we give this a try."

"Sounds like a good idea." I admitted, "But the thing is how do we meet with the vice president?"

Jordyn gave one of her signature smiles and I could tell something huge had struck her, "You're the company's president now remember, I know of a party that is being held soon and as president, you will need to be in attendance, the vice president has a close relationship with the company he will be there for sure, it's unfortunate that I can't be there with you."

"Don't be sorry," My hand found its way to hers, "You have helped me enough already."

"Do you think you can do it though?" She suddenly asked, "This is the vice president we are talking about." I turned away with a fierce look of determination in my eyes it didn't matter whether or not I thought I would be able to be able to do it, I had to.

While Jordyn was away at work I decided to pay Pierce a visit at the hospital. I was standing outside the mighty building nervous wondering if I should just go back home. Hesitantly I headed in, and with a pull, the door fell open, seated next to Pierce was Johanna in a hospital garment. I felt my blood rise at the sight of her, who even let her in she didn't appear to have many injuries, just a bandage on her head meanwhile my baby Pierce was lying there unconscious.

Johanna looked surprised to see me, "Who let you in?" She asked with a frown and I laughed, "That's ridiculous considering I am his rightful fiance and you are just who to him again?" I asked sarcastically.

Johanna sighed, "I don't want to do this with you this morning."

Oh? My brows involuntarily went up. That's surprising.

Her shoulders were slumped and she looked dispirited I found myself sympathizing with her, slowly I walked to the corner of Pierce's bed and took a seat on the empty chair turning to Johanna, "What exactly happened on the day of the accident." I didn't think I would get a reply when she started saying...

"We were coming back after negotiating with possible investors all day when the brakes suddenly stopped working, no matter what he did it just wouldn't work, amidst the chaos a little boy was running carelessly on the highway, in other to avoid hitting him Pierce ran his car into a tree."

My heart broke on hearing that, no doubt I had the best fiance in the world now if only he'd wake up and marry me.

"The whole thing seems fishy," Johanna said. "Why would the brakes suddenly stop working, it was doing just fine before we left."

I paused contemplating whether Johanna could be trusted, she was also a victim in this accident of course she would want to get to the root of it and as much as I hate to say it she is also in love with Pierce so she must see things from my point of view just the way I do.

"You look like you have something you want to say," Johanna observed.

"What if I told you I know who messed with the brakes," She seemed shocked for a second but anger soon took over, "Who is it that did this to my beloved?"

Honestly, there's no guarantee she won't sell me out, she had a close relationship with that family anyway. I decided to approach this differently.

Johanna stared at me eyes wide open eagerly awaiting my response.

"Take me to your father.." I trailed, "And I'll tell you."
