I took a taxi to the police station in a hurry. When I got there I found the driver still behind bars ignoring him. I advanced and a policeman I could recognize from yesterday waved at me and I headed for his table.
"Good morning Miss Aurora." He greeted me.
"Morning." I returned his greeting, occupying the space opposite him.
"You must be Carl," I said upon noticing he had a voice similar to the person I just spoke to on the phone and Carl replied to me with a brief nod. With that out of that out of the picture I drew closer to him. "So tell me Carl, just who is responsible for my attack?"
Carl leaned back and sighed, "After going through his phone records." He said, "We found out that he has only been speaking to one person."
Curiosity swept me over as I eagerly awaited his next words.
The policeman reached for a brown file lying on the table and brought out the picture then showed it to me. Squinting my eyes to take a closer look, there was a man in black dressed my gaze swept over soaking up every single detail.
"Do you know the man in this picture?" Questioned Carl, I took the picture from him, I must say the man did appear to look familiar but I could not pinpoint exactly where I had seen him. He could be said to be in his 20s, a young fine man who resembled one of the New York City players.
Dropping the picture on the table, I faced Carl. "Does this man have anything to do with my kidnap? Is he perhaps the culprit?"
"We don't have solid proof yet," Carl sighed, frustration boldly written on his face," but he is the only one the driver has been speaking to since yesterday and he called immediately right after the accident, that alone makes him suspicious, we have summoned him to the police station but he has not shown up so I wanted to confirm if you had any link or connection with him can you think back to whether you have seen this face somewhere or had an encounter with him, perhaps that would help us go further in this case."
I studied the picture carefully I had seen this man before I don't know where suddenly it hit me he had the same shoulder as the man who barged into my house that day although I couldn't see his face broad shoulders remained etched onto my memories, I narrated the story of the intruder to Carl and he listened carefully, taking my every word into account.
When I was done speaking, he wrote down a few things in the brown file and tucked it away under the drawer, looking at me with a smile, "Thank you very much Miss Aurora this would be of significance to our investigation as soon as we have more information or he shows up to the police station I will let you know and do not be afraid if he doesn't show up within 48 hours we will get him here by force with a warrant for questioning, if there is anything as I have once said I will let you know you are free to go now."
I rose to my feet, "Thank you very much, officer. I trust that you will do your best to bring this case to an end, apprehend the culprit, and put him behind bars."
I was at home trying to distract my thoughts by watching a TV show when Jordan called, bringing the phone to my ears, "hello" I breathed into the speaker.
"Where have you been aurora!" She exclaimed ah, right I was supposed to show up at her place the other day but bailed last minute.
"I'm sorry Jordyn I forgot to tell you so many things have happened I had something important to deal with."
"Oh?" She sounded unsure like she didn't believe me.
"It's fine, I missed you. Is it okay if I come over?"
This was Pierce's house but I trusted Jordyn, "It's okay, well you can come, I will send you the address in a minute."
"Yay." She squeaked.
The line went dead after that, I sent Jordan the address as promised and a few minutes later she showed up. As soon as the door flipped open she threw me in a hug.
*Jordyn, why are you acting so touching today?" I rubbed her back, "it's only been two days."
"And you don't know how frustrating those two days have been!" She suddenly pushed me to the side and walked in.
"Wow.* She marveled looking around the room, "This place is a dream come true," turning to me, "Do you want to switch places?" She joked, causing me to laugh, really I would love to but it's not even mine. Jordyn's home was small and cozy. There was this homey feeling to it. I loved being there really. If I could, maybe I would trade it for Pierce's mansion.
She sat on the couch with her shoulders slouched, she looked tired. "Jordyn," I went to her side, "what's the problem?" it was only right that I asked if she had been the one there for me during my tough moments.
"Work is stressing me out, you know."
Taking a seat next to her, "Tell me about it." I said softly.
"So.." she started, "the team manager had us write a proposal and when he read mine he told me it was crap and even threw it in the trash can in my presence.."
"It killed me because I put my all into that and to think he would treat it like filth.."I listened to her carefully, I knew that feeling my ex-boss used to do to me too well.
"Only for me to show up to work this morning and find out that my proposal is being used to negotiate a deal and the person who takes the credit is no other than the team manager who threw my proposal in the bin."
"Are you for real?" My jaw dropped
"Yeah you heard me," she said, "he's taking credit for my work and he's even threatened me already that should I say a word to this anybody I would lose my job."
Upon hearing that I rose to my feet annoyed, "Really? Just who is this man and what is his name?"
"It's okay Aurora." She pulled me down and I obediently sat, "I'm not telling you this so you can butt heads with him, I simply needed someone to vent to."
"This Is Not Okay Jordyn, you have been here with me during my tough times it's only right I help you I'm the president remember? Trust me this will be a piece of cake, maybe it's time I start acting my role." I said I was determined to teach the man a lesson, by the time I'm done with him he will never steal anybody's proposal again.
Jordan suddenly stood up and walked to the TV stand, baby pictures of Pierce hung across the wall, I saw her pick one up and heard her chuckle from behind.
"What's funny?" I couldn't help but ask.
Dropping the picture she turned to face me, "I just thought it was cute. I didn't think I would see baby pictures of my boss one day. It's amusing to see."
"All right." I said dropping the topic, "Have fun looking." And she carried on moving from one picture to the other laughing to herself like it was nothing. After a while, she was done and she came to meet me on the couch.
"How is he?" She asked.
"I honestly don't know." I sighed, "I haven't even visited him much, there's just too much going on right now, oh did I tell you that I was almost kidnapped the other day?"
"What?" Jordyn exclaimed, "How did it happen? Are you okay are you okay?" She asked to search my body.
"I'm fine," I dismissed, "he didn't succeed anyway, that's why I didn't bother going to your place anymore, the week's events have left me drained. I just wish Pierce would wake up. I'm tired I can't do this alone."
"It's okay." Jordyn's hand came over my shoulder, "I'm here for you," she reminded me. "Pierce will be fine and so will you so back to your kidnap how did it happen has the culprit been found? What exactly happened? Tell me the full gist, don't leave anything out."
I remember taking a picture of the suspect back so I picked up my phone to show Jordan. "So far this is the only suspect, there's no proof yet just phone calls between him and the driver. I can't quite recognize him but I know I've seen him before. Does his face ring a bell?" Jordyn snatched the phone from my grip and stared intensely
"Nope, never seen him before." She shook her head and then handed me back the phone but I found her body language to be weird which I brushed aside. I was probably just paranoid, stressed, and starting to imagine things.
"I'm tired of being indoors." Jordyn suddenly spoke, "Would you like for us to go out for a stroll?"
"All of a sudden?"
"You know we could pay Pierce a visit in the hospital." I looked at her skeptically, "why would you want to see him?"
"He's my boss of course. I'm worried I want to know how he's doing. Is that shocking? I mean all these years Pierce has been a good boss to me, the manager has the balls to act like this because Pierce would not be around if things were to surely be different. I can't deny that he's a great boss and I'm worried about him."
"All right." I bought her explanation, "Let's go to the hospital to see Pierce."
